Hello thanks for watching and your comment. You are welcome, glad you enjoyed the video. I know what you mean, when editing I could just imagine them as Christmas cards.
Brilliant photography, made more atmospheric with the snow and lifted the steam. I was there on Thursday and Sunday, Thurs was even more special as the afternoon the snow stopped and the sun came out adding the the effects. Everyone did an excellent job at the WVR, a memorable gala.
Hi Chris thanks for watching and your comment. The snow certainly made this years Steam Gala one to remember. :). Just wish I was free to visit on another day over the weekend. Maybe next year.
Reminds me of going on holiday when I was a child in the 50s and early 60s. We went from Leeds to Anglesey and from Bradford to Kings Cross, invariably by steam train. The Kings Cross service was the Yorkshire Pullman - getting the holiday off to a good start with lunch on the train Wonderful days.
For those of us living in the US, where the weather right now feels more like summer, this was a joy to watch, plus it's in one of my favorite parts of England. Thank you!
Hi Brian thank you for watching and your comment. Hopefully I will visit again when the USA Transportation train is running up and down the line again.
Great filming and capture of the atmosphere. I imagine that your work clothes will pick up a particularly dense aroma after the day's work is done. Tough job but someone's gotta do it.
Can't remember where I got it, (I think a friend gave it to me) but I have a tea towel with all these stations (and a map of the line) on it. I'm looking at it now as I'm watching your video. Well done for sharing this.
It would be nice to go back in time to the golden age of steam. At least the staff at these railways keep it alive for future generations. Thanks for watching and your comment :).
Hello it was up and down the Keighley Worth Valley Railway in West Yorkshire. It starts just north of Bradford and runs further out into West Yorkshire. Shot along route at Oakworth, Oxenhope and some footage at Keighley.
I can tell you from experience it wasn't a bit romantic in the early 60s shoveling coal into a clapped out steamer all night. These engines must be a pleasure to drive and fire as they look in tip top condition. I did drive a class 31 named Keighley and Worth Valley Railway a couple of trips over this line on naming day. Anyone know if the nameplates survived?
Superb
I fond of Steam Engines

Hi Andrew thank you for watching and you're comment. Appreciated :-)
nice
Thank you :)
There is something about seeing steam locomotives in a snowy landscape, It's Heaven but on Earth
I agree, also I'm the UK it can be rare for steam and snow at the same time :-)
Brilliant photography, made more atmospheric with the snow and lifted the steam. I was there on Thursday and Sunday, Thurs was even more special as the afternoon the snow stopped and the sun came out adding the the effects. Everyone did an excellent job at the WVR, a memorable gala.

Hello thanks for watching and you're comment. Oh yes the smell was in my nostrils for ages :-).
The snow adds to the atmosphere! 😜👍
Hi Bob I agree, one Gala to remember weather wise :)
That brought me back 50 years when I used to walk the line banging in the keys and tightening the fish plates.
A tough job but someone has to have the honour of the job :-). Thanks for watching and your comment.
There's nothing to beat the sight and smell of a steam locomotive.
I agree Gordon, especially first thing in the morning on a Gala day. :)
Fantastic winter steam scenes at the Gala and very nice photographs included.
Hello thanks for watching and your comment. Certainly a Gala to remember. :)
Thomas the tank in real life awesome

You're very welcome Gordon thanks for the comments and watching :)
Those scenes are reminiscent of years long gone sadly.

@@railway_photographer Wouldn't it?
Be nice to see a loco named after Bernard Cribbins.
The Railway Children 1970.
A film I have yet to watch which is on my watch list. :)
You're welcome.
Fantastic weather for a winter gala. Only why didnt they put the L&Y carriages behind the L&Y loco. Look like someone wasnt thinking.......
Couldn't have asked for better weather :). With all the snow and running about I never noticed the coaches.
Henry in the Snow
Was that old photo to do with the great freeze of 1962-63, which I well Remember or the film the Railway Children the Remake again I Remember
This engine crew must be brave souls as I did not see a cab enclosure for them.
Where was this video taken?

Fabulous photography but always told, a fireman who lift the lid (blow off) needs to go back to school.

That's all wasted steam blowing out, but when you need to put on a show, you need to have full steam available.
