Napkins can add something special to a card. Did you see the video where I used the white backing too? Here is a link ruclips.net/video/vMESeaDnbjM/видео.html
Me too Tina - especially when you need 3 quick cards! These 3 are already in the mail - I have gotten a bit behind on my Birthday list. Happy Crafting and Come Back Soon!
AWESOME cards!!!!! A former neighbor taught me years ago to make a "napkin card" but I never knew it was decoupage. One thing she did differently was to emboss the card front before the glue was dry and then cut it down like you did. That made sure the napkin was well stuck to the card stock and made the whole thing even prettier. My napkins are not nearly as pretty as yours - thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing that Kathy!! I'll try it next time I get around to my napkin stash. One thing I like about vippies.com (if you are USA) is that you can order a nice variety and only get a few of each. I've also ordered from amazon, but then you end up with 20 napkins or so - yikes!
@@SeniorSusieStamps Thank you Julia - that is good to know. Years ago a good friend of mine (she has passed away) was in charge of all important meetings and functions at our local hospital. She would bring home a couple of extra napkins from all of their VIP functions and shared them with me but my supply is dwindling now so I will check them out. Yes I am in the US, I live in Florida.
Don't know if you are asking Julia or me Elaine but I do not. I just use glue stick all over my white card stock and press the napkin with my fingers and then maybe with a brayer. Then I run it through my embossing machine in a folder before the glue has dried completely. Now you have a lovely background piece or even the entire card front, just add a sentiment.
That is a really good idea to use the second layer with a ghost pattern for the inside of the card, now why didn't I think of that ? 😄 I love your cards, thanks for the great ideas !
@@SeniorSusieStamps Thank you for your reply, as I am in the UK I can't buy from that napkin source. But, I do have already a large drawer full of napkins that I bought a couple of years ago, I went a bit mad at the time and bought every pack I could find, typical crafter 😅
Ohhhh Julia, I love, love, love all three cards. These are the type of cards that I like, as they are so pretty and girlie with added bling! 💎 You are so lucky to have found these beautiful serviettes, and lovely to make into a card to keep rather than for the purpose of a serviette which then ends up being thrown away! You are one clever and creative lady. 😊 The inside of your cards always look so special, and since watching your videos I have been decorating the inside of my cards as well. If I have to fussy cut an image I like to use the Tonic Tim Holtz 5 inch of 7 inch scissors. I find I have more control with the micro serrated edge compared to a normal craft scissor. Looking forward to your next crafting project, so until then happy crafting! Blessings, love and hugs. Gloria 🥰🌺💝
I am so glad you liked these! The ebay store I ordered from is Napkinworld and most were $1.98 for 2 napkins. I really don't want many more than that of each style so it's perfect for me. And with free shipping here in the US I will be purchasing a few more. Yes my favorite fussy cut scissors are the same TH. I always have to do a precut tho because I don't want the serrated edge. I'm still working up to a studio tour for you so don't give up hope! Talk soon - and have a wonder filled week!
I know this was a long time ago but they are very beautiful cards. I am thinking about joining a group who wants to make paper napkin cards. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Margaret - I will be interested to see how to make paper napkins. When I have some time later this week I'll search. Do you have any suggestions for interesting videos showing how to make? Thank you!!
I loved this, Julia. I just watched and learned … can’t wait to make some as I do have the napkins. If I can’t get that glue stick in Canada, do you know of any other one? Thanks for sharing - the cards are beautiful. I think my fav is the pink rose card. ❤️🇨🇦
Hi Mary Lynn - If you can't find that one in CA then perhaps try UHU. It is good also. Try to find on that is well rated and has the large head. It makes life much easier for these things. You can also use collage medium, it just requires a brush...Have a wonderful week! PS I think the Pink Rose is my Fave also!!
@@SeniorSusieStamps Thanks, Julia, I know I have seen UHU. BTW, using the ghosting tissue layer was so pretty on the card … I’ll have to check out mine for that. Have a blessed week! 😘
@@mmmmlllljohn That ghosted back image was just a bonus! I haven't found it on 2 ply only on the 3 ply with strong colours. And you know me I hate not to use pretty things so I thought about the inside...another viewer suggested stamping under the layer and I found that works if you use Memento ink not Versafine - it smears when you put glue stick on it. Talk soon!!
Hi Jean - I purchase most of my stamps used from ebay. You could always type out a sentiment on your computer and use it that way. Perhaps tear the edges?!
Hi Poohdbearaf - I went back and watched this video and I think what you are referring to is the glue stick. This is the one I think is the best - www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Value-Sized-Photo-Stick/dp/B00004ZCM4/ref=sr_1_6?crid=PDJWB47WA30T&keywords=pioneer%2Bphoto%2Bglue%2Bstick%2Bacid%2Bfree&qid=1694030045&sprefix=Pioneer%2BPhoto%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-6&th=1
I was wondering if you could stamp the sentiment on the inside of the card and then glue the thin napkin layer over top. Do you think the stamp ink would smear?
I stamped 2 different times once with Memento Black and once with Versafine Onyx Black (which I thought would show through better). The Versafine smeared with the glue stick and didn't work at all even though it was completely dry. The Memento came through just fine, tho the text is much fainter. Will post a pic on the facebook page if you want to see result. You are Brilliant!! facebook.com/seniorsusiestamps
Hi Sharon - That is a Pioneer Photo Glue Stick. Here is an amazon link - www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Value-Sized-Photo-Stick/dp/B00004ZCM4/ref=sr_1_5?crid=25J54DFHWK422&keywords=pioneer%2Bphoto%2Bglue%2Bstick%2Bacid%2Bfree&qid=1694183915&sprefix=pioneer%2Bphoto%2Bglue%2Caps%2C121&sr=8-5&th=1 That brand specifically is WONDERFUL! The other brand I really like is Uhu.
All three napkin cards are just beautiful, can't choose one over the other two!!
I agree Helen - But I have to go with the birds; it's another passion of mine!
All of your cards are beautiful. I really like how you outline the bird. That light touch made a big difference.
Thank you so much!
Truly lovely cards. Great usage of those gorgeous napkins.
Glad you like them Cindy! I thought those napkins were fabulous! I have to rein myself in at vippies.com!! LOL
Julia all three of the cards tuned out beautifully! I can't pick a favorite because they're Gorgeous!
Thanks Roxanne! Did you check out vippies.com? You can get about 3 napkins of each one that you like so you don't have a pack of 20 to deal with.
I really enjoyed this video and I loved all of the cards! They all turned out beautiful!
Thanks Val - I was surprised how much I enjoyed working with napkins! And yes - I did order some more - LOL!!!
Beautiful cards.! Really enjoy your gentle voice and easy to follow instructions.
Thank you so much! These napkins were meant to be something other than napkins for sure!!
I love all 3 cards but I have a thing for birds, butterflies and dragonflies so of course my favorite is the bird card.
Weren't those great napkins? They made some lovely cards for sure!

These are gorgeous! Hard to pick one, but I guess if I had to it would be the card with the birds.
