First mistake: You think you know what to do to get rates up. Second mistake: You're rushing which is why you're making mistakes and will not make the rates. Chances are you won't get those items and then you'll freak out. If, you have to make rate of 350/hr it only takes 8 items stowed in a matter of 60 seconds (1 minute). There are 60 minutes in an hour. If you stow 8 items in 1 minute, that would be a total of 480 items stowed in an hour. Which is 150 more than required and gives ample time for the larger items. So when you get the larger items, relax it's not the end, because you know you'll have more than enough to make it through the day. Pace yourself and learn (memorize) where everything is located (computer buttons, scanners and such)- that will take a lot of the stress away. Do not run your jaws on break, run your mind on your station (where was everything located), while relaxing, getting a good healthy snack, hydrated and stretching. If you need an example: place 8 kitchen items on the kitchen counter (or table)- in no particular order. Take one item at a time and place those items where they belong, without rushing yourself. If you can do that in less than a minute - you're off to a good start. People, take your time and do not do what this person did by trying to hurry and get things done (attempting to be slick for people or his friends). You're either working 4, 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts. Work at a pace that is sustainable for the number of hours and days. If you overwork yourself, you failed to take care of priority number one.
