I work for a delivery warehouse in Texas. Huge, long walks, lots of doing jobs you’ve NEVER been trained to do, and no one will want to help you either. 😑
One day I had to pick , and load all the Amazon flex routes, take them outside and distribute them to the drivers. I turned around and was ALONE🙄 50-70 cars, all walking toward me wanting routes/questions! I did that for almost 3 hrs, whilst the SA and Operations manager stood there and talked about employees, on their Voice enhancements so I heard everything 😑🙄😒
My second day I was very discouraged because I never knew what to do. Another coworker jus said look busy, move around like you’re doing stuff 😅 I’m 2 Mos in, and actively looking for a new, full time job.
I’ve since learned how to become invisible, but with these last few days due to peak, holidays, that’s impossible now. WE DO IT ALL, AT ALL COSTS. No break? No one cares 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @OurWorldShifted
      @OurWorldShifted  4 года назад +10

I knkw what it’s like man, where I worked, the 15 mins breaks weren’t real 15 mins, maybe 5 because it took so long to get to the break room, and would see managers all day looking like their just trying to look busy on their computer when they didn’t have much to do

I never met a person that worked in Amazon that didn’t become highly depressed, highly unmotivated. They completely switched off ,a totally different person. Some people would throw up in the parking lot in the morning from anxiety knowing they’re going to have to pull another shift. It’s such a fucked up job it should be closed down, that kind of work deserves 50 bucks an hour and a regular eight hour shift if you still decide to do it

To those who don’t like me calling amazon modern day slave labor,
if you look at the logic behind the minimal wage, making enough money to only survive, and return to work the next day, struggling to save up any money, never being able to retire, and having to spend your work life destroying your body doing abusing manual labor, is modern day, legal slave labor,
I would highly recommend looking into the slave labor that built Dubai, the people who built the city are so poor, they can never leave to return to their countries, all they can do is survive, and it’s a compete injustice to them, to tell one of them, their not a modern day slave, because they can legally try to walk away, though their stuck Sharing one room, with 20 other people, and only make enough money to buy just barely enough food to survive,
When slaves were first set free in America, they were given slave contracts, which basically said they would be given food, and shelter in exchange for work, they weren’t actually technically slaves anymore, because they agreed to work, though they were still real slaves,
The benefits amazon offers are only so you feel like your stuck working for them, and to convince you that you can’t find better work somewhere else,
Sure I can rent a room, and maybe save up to buy a cheap car with a minimal wage job, though I can never retire, never afford to take care of my family, and have to spend my life working for someone else, with the illusion that I’m free,
Why don’t you tell the old couple in their 60s, that was working at my amazon site together, struggling to save 50 dollars a month to retire, while the man can even work anymore, and he faints on the job, how he’s not a slave to a corrupt modern day society,
Or explain to my friend who came here from Africa looking for better opportunities, how he has a great benefit plan, when amazon is trying to not pay him any workers compensation for legitimate injuries he got from working at amazon,
And explain to him, how it’s his fault amazon has him waiting several months to get the surgery he now needs, in serval different parts of his body,
Tell them, their free people with great benefits, don’t waste your time on someone who doesn’t need it,
I understand being a legitimate slave is a much worse condition, though if your so blind, you can’t see how we created a system where everyone, everywhere is now just a slave to someone else, who’s aloud to go home at the end of the day, told who to vote for, told where to spend their money, and how exactly they should live their life, even down to what they should watch on the brainwashing programs of television, and what music they should listen to because it keeps minorities down,
If you don’t see all this,
It’s because you haven’t had it so bad in your life,
You have no idea what it’s like to really struggle and work hard, to get no where in life, not move forward even on inch, no matter what you do and how hard you try, and to actually feel like something in life is just pulling you back, and pulling you down, and keeping you down,
Privilege people don’t like to talk about how their privilege, they just want to blame other people for not being born in a better environment for their growth,
Minorities, go to worse school, live in worse towns, and work jobs that keep them stuck where they are,
I ain’t no government conspiracy theorist, I just see the plain and obvious truth written all over the walls,
Companies like amazon should be held more accountable for their actions then a smaller company, theirs no way you can have a fair balance for the simple reason that most small companies, can’t even afford to be held more accountable.
Jeff Bezos is such a piece of ****, the only thing he wants to do with all his money, is compete with Elon Musk, because he wants to be the richest most powerful man in the world, he has very little consideration for starting a homeless shelter, for creating better working conditions, for sending money to countries that simply can’t help their selves, for looking for ways to improve the planet, for the sake of living creatures on it now, or in the future, like why amazon need to go to space, Elon Musk is light years ahead of amazon, he ain’t doing anyone any service or justice, at least Elon Musk wants to create a way for people to live on other planets to increase the life expectancy of the entire human race and all life on earth, Jeff Bezos just wants to be a F****** A******,
Theirs still actual slave labor going on today, theirs slave labor in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 Britain, right now, who are being used to grow drugs, who do get paid every once in a while, though not enough for them to actually do anything besides survive with, slave labor isn’t limited to what America and Europe did in a not so long ago past, it’s been going on since Egypt, and still going on today in many different parts of the world,
And to tell people they can survive off the minimal wage, or two dollars above it, is just an injustice,
We went from a society where woman complained they couldn’t work fairly among men, to a society where now most women have to go to work, and most men can’t afford stay at home wife’s anymore.
While men get disrespected by society for not being more rich and successful, without any knowledge on how to achieve such goals, just endless motivation videos telling them all they need to do is work harder, as if hard work alone is how the rich get rich, and it has nothing to do with what their working hard on.

I told the mgr beforehand I would do my best but couldn't move very well, he said ok, do your best (he denied saying that later) and then wrote me up for my troubles. Total dick move by a guy who got arrested in college for underage drinking..(yeah, Amazon don't background check the mgrs either). It also scares workers into working harder because they think they will be fired next. But they won't fire you unless you violate their attendance policies. Most of their write ups are production related. You don't make rate for one day or one hour, they write you up. I just laughed in their face because I knew they wouldn't fire me for that. Management is taught to do this. And I say shame on the managers for playing this idiotic game. ... also, for pickers, your pick paths aren't randomly selected. The manager who assigns them can tell which ones are easy, and which ones are slow. And they can give their favorite workers the easy ones so they can get a higher rate.

Most people will just refuse to believe how bad it really is until they actually see it their self, I’ve worked a lot of different job, including construction work, jackhammers, shovels, etc…
Amazon was by far my worse work experience of my life, I really want to explain to people so much how your truly treated like a real life slave their, and everyone just gets upset and say, if your a slave, why do you get a paycheck and the illusion of freedom, when the only freedom you get is to make the choice to go to work every single day you can, and every single hour you can, because you make so little you can barely even survive,
While they make sure get make every single penny they possibly can out of you, and stretch, and abuse you as much as they possibly can, then discard you when your either of no more use to them, or simply can’t keep up with their ever growing demands, with what seems like no time to catch your breath because you can’t even enjoy your break time when you waste most of it walking back and forth inside of such a large building

I worked at Amazon through a temp agency called Integrity Staffing in 2017, and I remember when I went to the bathroom because my stomach was hurting bad. I was in the bathroom for more than 5 minutes, and then the next day, I was pulled aside by an employee of the temp agency, and she told me that Amazon said I left my station and thought that I left, I told her I had a bad stomach ache and went to the bathroom. Luckily, I didn't get written up. There's people who have bladder problems or something else that makes them go to the bathroom. Amazon needs to get rid of the stupid ass TOT rule. Thank you very much for this comment, my personal recommendation is to not go their, theirs plenty of jobs of their that will pay you the same amount of money, or more, for less work, I really don’t think it’s worth it, First Student will train people to get their Commercial Driver License with paid training, just a suggestion, though theirs plenty of other options out their, you can be a security guard as an example, if you work for the right place, you’ll make the same check amazon will pay you, and not have to lift anything up, keep looking, get on ziprecruiter, and indeed, apply to a lot of places, front desk office jobs, delivery drivers that don’t require special licenses, USPS front desk assistant that talks to customer’s face to face, school janitor, theirs endless options out their you can work instead of amazon, where you won’t have to kill yourself, and damage your body to make a living, I had a friend who was working for Amazon for around 5 years, and he tells me he finally found a job, that will both pay him more per hour, and require no lifting of anything at all in an office building, even some restaurants servers make more money if you work in the right restaurant, maybe you don’t like dealing with customer’s, though you won’t have to sacrifice your physical health to make a living, you’ll find something better, just keep looking, a lot of places are hiring right now, and in serious need of workers, one of my old amazon coworkers told me he left a job as a restaurant server where he was making twice as much money, to go work at Amazon instead because his family would respect that job more, let me be the first to tell you, F*** That S***, go work at Best Buy, or Target, before you decide Amazon is your only choice

I really wish people would stop being so full of sh**, and stand up to their employers, I’ve been their where everyone wants to tell me why they hate working at amazon, though almost no one wants to actually talk to the managers about it,
And I was the guy who actually went and complained about everything, to get no where
I’m going through the same thing right now, I don’t have a job, I’ve been applying to jobs left and right, lost jobs I would have been perfectly good at because other people applied with more experience, lost one I already sign paperwork to work at, because THC decided two months, and some body cleansing, wasn’t enough, and have plenty of jobs that don’t even respond, while I know that truly, I don’t want to work for any of them, you send me to help staving kids in Africa, I’m all over it, I’ll be the hardest worker, I’ll figure out how to build them houses, you want me to be a cashier at a supermarket for 1 dollar above minimal wage, ain’t no body calling other people lazy in this world, who don’t have better opportunities for their selves
This world is filled with people who sit behind a desk all day, calling people who are stuck doing labor jobs for minimal pay lazy.
If my RUclips picked up. And started paying me, I wouldn’t work a regular job again in my life, I’ll work on RUclips videos everyday of the week, then work a job for even 3 days a week
I think it’s a fu**ed up statement at this point, though all we can do is keep moving forward, and keep looking for better jobs, even after you get a job, as tiring as it may be, we may have to Look for a new job while we’re working our next one,
I really want to get back to working on this channel for example, though it’s been hard to stay motivated when most of my videos struggle to get over 100 views no matter what I do in them, and I have no interest in starting a channel just doing anything for views if I’m not interested in what I’m doing
Fuc* these labor jobs, and forget about the people who tell you that you should be working a shitty job, my knees are fuc*ed up, my mom gotten a lot of work on her knees. And when I tell her I can’t work certain jobs because I’m gonna end up like her, she just tells me, that I should do what I have to do, when their no logic behind me telling her. Well how am I going to do that when I can’t walk, and why the hell would I wait till I can’t walk to make a different choice in my life when I know what’s coming if I stay working labor jobs, she expects me to just go kill myself to make a living if that’s what I have to do, and I think it’s really fuc*ed up
No offense to illegal immigrants, though I’m not one, and really think only illegals are stuck working whatever job they can get, no offense to them, I just believe I don’t have to kill myself to make a living, and like theirs better choices out their
My dad worked as a laborer his whole life, though no one wants to knowledge that we don’t even know how many injuries he currently has, and is choosing to ignore, when he could have retired if he made better financial decisions, he stays driving the machines now, he can’t even really work as a laborer anymore, and they expect me to just go labor myself and become just like them,
Point being, I feel really bad for him, I would prefer it if he didn’t have to work anymore, though me not wanting to end up like him doesn’t mean I’m lazy, it just means I’m concern about my health, safety, and future

I don't disagree with you, but this is basically how every low skill general labor job is. I haven't worked at Amazon, but I have worked in similar environments. You're on your feet doing very repetitive manual labor for the entire shift with no downtime and very little to no socializing. Maybe Amazon is worse than others, but you basically feel like a slave in all of them with management that really only cares about production numbers. But that is why generally speaking those types of jobs starting pay is more than other low skill jobs like fast food and retail, otherwise no one would do it.

    • @altoid8450
      @altoid8450 3 года назад +5

Agree. And you need no skill or training to get hired. All you gotta put in to get a job is as long as it takes to fill out an app. That's the trade off. They pay you descent, but you gotta work hard. If you want something better, put in some work for it. Go to school, put in a couple years at the bottom gaining some experience, something... And Amazon gives you way more breaks than other places. You work like 2.5 hrs and get a break. Most of the time you should be able to work 2.5 hrs straight without going to the bathroom.

Further more working at amazon you are not a person you are a number (ROBOT)! All I can say is that I was self-employed all my life and can tell you what I saw there in the warehouse. But all I can say is I have signed a paper from them that says I can't say what I saw and what was going on in the warehouse.

What does amazon say? Oh well gotta deliver these packages no matter what!
Yes it’s true drivers urinate inside vans because we don’t get restroom breaks. Most of us don’t take lunch breaks either while working 12 plus hours.
We get so many damned stops 200 or more. Oh and Amazon’s GPS is garbage. It gets most apartments incorrectly. And they expect you to drive a mile worth of residential road in less than a minute.
So what do people do? Drive wrecklessly and speed. I knew of a guy who literally drove the van off a mountain and never came back.

Also, of course Amazon “pays people to talk to the media”. Duh! It’s called a media department. 99% of big companies have them..
I just think its weird that people who are managers don’t have this “Amazon sucks. Don’t work there”.

And when I first started I did really well despite the fact that I have people hazing myself that I wasn’t the only one. We actually had training investors let people and operations it up here dick here know that yeah they were taking products from us that was making our rates go lower I’m scraping to get whatever they could’ve somebody else’s stuff giving us equipment that they knew was an operating correctly in and then we’re getting graded on our stats. No it’s toxic it’s clicky and it is just obnoxious there. And the fact that we have people sitting on the floor now because we don’t even have enough tables for lunch it’s just total bullshit. And the fact that there’s so many safety issues I could just go on especially after I’ve worked in training. I know my shit and what does me to sing in this video of this is exactly how it is when there’s a problem people to sit at their desk and they don’t wanna do anything they just say they got a headache so they hold her head where they don’t know what to do and you know they just kind of sit there and say oh OK well you guys go fix it and I we’re just gonna do our thing yeah whatever you’re not part of our clicks we don’t care.
