My first Maiden show was also on the No Prayer tour, Dec. 5th 1990. I´ve seen them around 25 times, four times on the Brave New World tour alone, hahaha.... I have a friend that has seen them way over 100 times, he´s travelling around the globe for them. He´s not even 40 years old, just sick, hahaha! 2005 was the best tour for me, they just played songs of the first four records and Bruce really killed everything I´ve seen from him before and after, almost as good as in 1982. There´s very good quality footage from Rock Am Ring 2005 here on YT. The 2014 tour with the 7th Son stage was very cool as well!

I only saw them twice. Most recently on the "Legacy of the Beast" tour in Buffalo. First time, 1981 with Di'anno (my favourite Maiden singer). Opened for Judas Priest in Toronto. Maiden blew them off the stage. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE JP! It's just they weren't up to par with the "Point of Entry" era.

How was the blaze show? I know people slam him, I rather find that era quite interesting, just how he approached the songs and sang them. I always find his era of interest. I got a few official live bootlegs too, they are decent.

@@jameshowe8238 it was a good show. It was in a small venue in Chicago. The X Factor tour. Blaze has a really good voice. In 2021 I bought Blaze’s War Within Me cd. Check it out. It’s awesome. So I went back and listened to The X Factor for the first time and bought it. It’s pretty good. About 2 weeks ago I decided to check out Virtual X1 and after many spins I think that is a really good album. I should have bought them when they were released. Except for Brave New World the 2 Blaze albums are better then anything Maiden has put out in years.

Hey Darcy, The first time I saw Maiden live was also on No Prayer on the Road. From the album they played 7 songs, the 5 you mentioned and the assassin, and hooks in you. The song die with your boots on has been played live in 2003 during the Give me Edd till I am dead - tour, and in 2005 during the Early Days Tour.
Live After Death is a great live album but Bruce is struggling from time to time. He is more shouting instead of singeng. His best live performances are on Beast over Hammersmith, and Rock in Rio, IMHO.
The setlist of the last live album Nights of the Dead was great. But For the Greater Good of God doesn't work live. And I think the long songs from Senjutzu was suffer the same problem live on next tour, the future past tour, based on Senjutzu and Somewhere in Time.
    Greeting from Belgium
PS: this summer I will visite Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Quebec and the waterfalls)

I think I may have only 3.33 live Maiden albums:
    1. Live After Death (1985)
    2. Rock In Rio (2002)
    3. A Real Live One (1993)
3.33. Best of The B'Sides (2002; includes live versions of Blood On The World's Hands, The Aftermath, Futureal, and Wasted Years '99)
    * The History of Iron Maiden Part 1: The Early Days (2004)(DVD includes Live at The Rainbow 1981, Beast Over Hammersmith 1982, Live In Dortmund 1983, and Live at The Ruskin)

Nice ranking Darcy! Maiden live is an awesome experience. I’ve seen them 5 times here in Sweden, and every show was amazing. Here is my ranking of official Maiden live albums. I’m gonna include the EP ”Maiden Japan” with Paul on vocal. ”The BBC Archives” is great but includes both livetracks and studiotracks from different tours and bandmembers and therefore I’m not gonna include that one in my ranking.
    1. Beast over Hammersmith
    2. Live after death
    3. Maiden Japan
    4. Maiden England
    5. Rock in Rio
    6. En Vivo!
    7. Death on the road
    8. The book of souls; live chapter
    9. Nights of the dead
    10. Flight 666
    11. A real live one
    12. A real dead one
    13. Live at Donington
Hard to do this ranking, but the first five have always been at the top, and the last three have always been at the bottom. Take care!🤘

I've only seen maiden once - 6th August 2018 at Manchester arena on the legacy of the beast tour. I'd just seen Alice cooper at Leeds arena in November 2017 which was and my dad picked me up from school a few days later and told me that iron maiden had announced a UK tour for the following summer and that he'd book tickets on Friday. I only knew phantom of the opera and the trooper and wasn't super into them but I went along because I thought it'd be fun to go see another concert. My dad got tickets and lent me his cd of live after death so I could become more familiar with them. I didn't get far into the cd because I had a short attention span but the first three tracks I heard (aces High, 2 minutes to midnight and the trooper) were enough to get me hooked. He then bought the dvd for live after death and I was absolutely hooked. August came around and maiden didn't disappoint and is still one of the best shows I've been to. Was gutted to miss out on them last year as somewhere in time is my favourite album of all time but unfortunately tickets sold out too quick but we managed to book tickets for the show in Ireland next year as we're doing it as a special occasion for my 18th.

I saw Maiden the first time as Headliner of the Monsters of Rock at the end of the Powerslave World Tour together with 55.000 and being lucky of standing close to the stage (thank God I was young, could'n do it these days). It made me a Maiden Fan, before their Studio Albums were to softly and thin sounding for me as I was more into the growing Extreme Metal sound but that show blow my mind with their musicianship and virtuosity and how they filled the stadium with their songs....... Saw them since 6-7 times and most enjoyed them the last few times in Berlin on the Waldbühne, a stage which is build like an old Greek Theater where the rows grow high and they curve around the sound stage. It is always sold out with about 12.000 and everybody has a great view and sound and the atmosphere of this close bucket of energy is amazing. Maybe 1-2 more times until they retire or get too old to be as good as they still are today. I don't care if AC/DC tours or not or has a new album or if the Stones have their 45th good bye tour anniversary, when Maiden ends, something of me will end as well and the World of Rock will have lost something that cannot be compensated.

I've probably watched the VHS of LAD more than I listened to the album even though I got both when they came out. My first show was Iron Maiden/W.A.S.P. in 1985 on the World Slavery Tour. So, I don't dislike LAD, it's just that the video was always closer to what the show actually was for me.
I've seen Maiden a total of eight times. I've seen them every time they've come to my area except twice. One of those was with Blaze in '98 and the other was in '03. I had a lot of shit going on then so I probably didn't even know about the show. It was Iron Maiden/Dio/Motorhead so I definitely would've gone if I knew about it. I'm actually pissed I looked that up. I did see them in Las Vegas once which was cool.
    Keep up the good work!

When will you do the Black Sabbath ranking? I'm so looking forward to that. Live Maiden? Early stuff mostly. Gets too redundant after 2000. "Maiden Japan" needs an official re-release.

You can't beat a Maiden ranking video, whatever the topic! That Cloudy Milder does a lot of Maiden videos but he talks a lot of crap so I wouldn't listen to him. I much prefer one show (or single venue if recorded over multiple nights) live albums rather than the best of tour albums they do (I got negative feedback for ranking Flight 666 low, so guess I'm in the minority, DVD is brilliant though!). Maiden and Anthrax at the same show, I would have been in my element! I've only seen them once(!) but will be again this June, can't wait! you got me pulling Death On the Road to listen to next. Great ranking, #1 was inevitable!!

Saw maiden twice. Somewhere back in time tour and then the tour after that one where Dream Theater opened up for them (don’t remember the name of the tour).
Maiden is a band you need to see live to truly appreciate them because I feel the studio albums don’t do them justice in my opinion.

maiden should have 2 different setlists for each tour. swap out 1/3rd of each set for plan B every other night. my fav setlist i saw live was the first leg of final frontier, where they only played el dorado, mostly stuff from bnw, dod and amolad. the best performance, and show overall i saw was the 2015 book of sould show. easily the best show i've seen them put on. as for live releases, bruce was in terrible form on live after death (the video....the casette/LP/cd versions are heavily repaired/overdubbed in the vocals-you can clearly hear the edit points). hammersmith 82 and rock on rio 2001 are the only live maiden records you need. here's a fun drinking game.....take a shot every time you wince at bruce's performance on maiden england....if you're not HAMMERED by the middle of hallowed alone, you're tone deaf. i can't believe they greenlit that release, let alone the full show reissue.
