Death on the road above Flight 666 is just crazy

Death on the Road as live dvd was great. Flight was live intermixed. Flight was great but Death on the Road is definitely more consistent

Hey thanks! I agree with your rankings. Almost exactly as mine, I have Maiden England a bit higher though. Murders in the Rue Morgue on Beast Over Hammersmith is Godly. If we we're including Best of the BBC, the Reading '82 concert is awesome!

I loved how the band sounded on that " Flight 666 " movie. Picked up the soundtrack on vinyl and it just sounded flat. Same with the " Live After Death " re-issue.
I play those D.V.D's /Blu-rays through my T.V. and just enjoy. Yep 150.00 for that " Number Of The Beast " is too
    much. Nice Ranking, Thanks.

@@RustyDarlington I absolutely hate The Final Frontier album, it is and will always be at the bottom of the IM discography, so a concert heavy with those songs, and especially the song El Dorado, which I despise (my most hated song from them), and hearing Bruce butcher it on top of it is just to painful for me to watch or listen.

Our rankings are so close! For me, Rock in Rio is #1. I can't argue with your rankings though. Maiden is my favorite band, though I hate to admit that there are a few stinkers in the live albums, which identified exactly in my order of preference. Once you get past the bottom 4 or so, I love the rest. I will say, I love Wasting Love and Brave New World. I heard Brave New World performed live in concert a few times and it was insanely good. I do agree about Heaven Can Wait! I'm torn about En Vivo. I want to rank it higher, but I think you put it in the proper spot. Great video!

Beast on the Road Bruce sounded stronger than he ever did in the 80’s. Beast over Hammersmith Bruce sounded exactly like he did on Number of the Beast. That hard touring schedule didn’t do Bruce any favors

about the live - dead one ... those weren't shows... they just picked the songs from the tour that were originally released before 1986 and put them on "A real dead one" And the songs after that on "A real live one" and released them like this. Reason being not to force fans buying the old songs they already had live on "live after death " etc...

    14) Nights Of The Dead: Amazing setlist but IMO this thing should've never been released. Period. Bruce was ill as hell and sounded awful. It's painful listening to this demigod of a singer struggling this much. Use overdubs in studio, I don't care. Anything but listening to one of the best vocalists of all time like this. Plus, sound quality wise, it sounds like a quality bootleg (though I've listened to better ones). As far as I'm concerned, this record never existed.
    13) A Real Dead One: Like its twin brother, Steve does an awful job while producing and mixing these records. And the performance itself sounds sloppy. Some cool surprises though (Where Eagles Dare, Transylvania, Prowler, Remember Tomorrow) yet not a single track out of Killers. When the band remastered it back in 1998, they could at least add Wrathchild from Hallowed Be Thy Name's single B side (like in the Japanese version). Shameful.
    12) A Real Live One: Besides featuring two piles of garbage in Wasting Love and From Here To Eternity and the aforementioned poor production, it only features one song from Somewhere In Time. Once again, they could add Wasted Years (from the same source above) when they remastered it in 1998. That being said there's some truly cool material here from the 90's that are rarely featured (Be Quick Or Be Dead, Afraid To Shoot Strangers, Tailgunner, Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter).
    11) The Book Of Souls Live Chapter: Cool album. Nothing too special and Bruce's voice is still a bit frail yet strong enough. Powerslave, Blood Brothers, Wasted Years alongside new tracks like The Book Of Souls and The Red And The Black. Yup, I enjoy it.
    10) Live At Donnington: When it comes to production quality it's a bit better than A Real Live/ Dead One. The only downside is the lack of the aforementioned deep cuts but on the other hand at least it features Wrathchild. Another enjoyable release, if one skips Wasting Love and From Here To Eternity.
    9) Raising Hell: Bruce's farewell gig. Don't care much about the magic numbers but production-wise it's quite good. Plus, it has a decent setlist overall (with an exception I don't need to mention), the performance is ok and also features Transylvania. Cool and peculiar gig.
    8) En Vivo: I love the audience on this and the songs from Final Frontier are really well picked. It also sounds awesome. When it comes to the rest of the setlist I think it could be a little more varied but nonetheless a great live album indeed.
    7) Rock In Rio: Great production and two amazing gems at the time (Sign Of The Cross and The Clansman). Performance-wise it's excellent but when it comes to the remainder of the setlist it's really limited. I mean... Brave New World, Dream Of Mirrors and The Mercenary are simply a drag (they could easily trade two of those for Out Of The Silent Planet and The Fallen Angel like they did at a couple of other dates in South America around the same time). Nonetheless still a great release
    6) Death On The Road: To begin with great setlist. The songs from Dance Of Death sound awesome and then there's Lord Of The Flies. And if it's true I already loved the original, this is IMO the Blaze era song where Bruce's impact is felt the most. I simply love this album.
    5) Beast Over Hammersmith: Combine the oomph and irreverence early Maiden still had in 1982 with the entrance o Bruce and what else can result but a legendary concert? And the setlist is amazing to say the least. Zero fillers (although I'd like Purgatory to be here... but hey! We can only get so much). Brilliant performance that should have been released long before.
    4) Maiden Japan: Ok, I know it's a bit of a stretch, but even the five song EP is breath taking. Now there are some versions (unofficial but with excellent sound) that feature the entire Nagoya gig and man... this thing just RULES! Raw energy and deep cuts from two excellent albums once again featuring zero fillers. Monster of a concert!
    3) Flight 666: Live After Death mixed with Maiden England? Oh yeah!!! Give me that any day of the week. And if it's true the band's elements are far from being young (in their 50's) and lost a bit of the edge they had back in 1988 and 1985, the fact is the performances are rock solid. The playlist is almost a dream come true My only complaint is the inclusion of Fear Of The Dark: since it's an era dedicated tour it should be left out like they did in 2005 when they covered the first four albums. Other than that, absolute banger.
    2) Maiden England: Bruce's voice sounds a bit tired and, while being good, the production could be a bit better. Yet this is Maiden during one of their best periods, playing with impressive intensity and speed. Once again, there are some deep cuts like Die With Your Boots On and The Prisoner, although in this department I'd give relevance to Still Life and Killers which are easily two of my favorite songs from the band. To sum things up, a great record featuring songs I have loved since my early teens. Brutal.
    1) Live After Death: IMO this isn't just Maiden's best live album: it's Metal's top live album ever, period. Maiden live at the top of their game. Setlist? Stellar. Performance? Immaculate (especially Bruce... I don't know how someone can put any inch of defect in this godlike performance). Production? Amazing (especially for a 1985 record). I mean... this record is widely regarded as a masterpiece. And rightfully so. Maiden have great live records but none comes close to Live After Death in my book.
