Even though a Liverpool fan I've always had great respect for Shearer so I watched the full two hours. I'm just a bit older than Shearer so I remember all the players he talks about watching as a child and those he came through with in the early 90s. What I found particularly interesting is all the Liverpool legends that he worked with - Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, Jimmy Case, Terry McDermott, Peter Beardsley, Graeme Souness, etc. I love the fact that Keegan was his boyhood hero - as he was mine when he played for Liverpool. Younger fans don't realise what a great player he was - and he built his career a lot like Shearer did - with hard graft, desire and enthusiasm. It was great to hear his comment about how Case took care of all the young lads at Southampton - he was also an unsung hero at Liverpool and was an uncapped player that would walk into that England side today. Great anecdotes about Garry Speed, Bobby Robson, Gazza, Bellamy, and lots of Newcastle players that have been criminally forgotten. Shearer was a great player and I love his humility. Newcastle are a great club and their fans deserve better. Congrats on interviewing your hero TG - you deserve it.
I'll never forget the day Blackburn sold David Speedy, I was gutted. Then this guy called Alan Shearer played the first game in the prem and started smashing goals in from outside the box. Forget Speedy, Shearer was the man. Great times witnessing Rovers win the Prem! Great days

I think every kid of the nineties loved Alan Shearer with maybe the exception of Sunderland lads told by their fathers that they can't like him but perhaps didn't know why! I was 9 during Euro 96 and remember clearly being on a Cub Camp and everyone constantly requesting and singing "It's Coming Home" on the tape someone had brought on the mini bus everywhere we went. Shearer was the figurehead for all of that. Magic memories! Legend.
Love Alan's honesty, really enjoyed this podcast. Although I've never been a Newcastle supporter I respect talent when I see it & Alan was & still is one of the greatest strikers this country has ever had.
leeds united way so sad, I was watching his Wales team play Norway just before he died, they won 4-1 and I really thought they were going places. I was shocked when it happened, I always remember him playing in the prem, although I was too young to see him at Leeds, what a nice guy and great player, almost 9 years now but he’s never forgotten

I'm not a Newcastle fan, I'm a MUFC fan, but when Shearer joined Newcastle everyone knew, it was Newcastle that made him think he's hit the big time. That's insane when you look back at just how reliable and dependable he was at the time, at a Premier League winning club Blackburn Rovers - he could have signed for just about any club in the world but he chose Newcastle... this guy deserves a massive amount of respect because he's one of the greatest English strikers of all time and his loyalty to his boyhood club is unquestionable. An absolute legend of the game. I was raised to hate Liverpool FC but I think the same about Gerrard and of course perhaps the most loyal English player of the last 30 years Matt Le Tissier, another player that never left his club and another absolute legend of a player and a genius player that was clearly born to play football. There are so few of these characters but I hope as each new generation comes along, we see more people like this.
I can say this as a Sunderland supporter, Alan Shearer was Englands best ever centre-forward and one of the best players I've ever seen. Had everything. Shows you the character of the man, he went to Newcastle when he could have gone anywhere in the world. Simply one of the best.
Shearer was a big part of why i started following NUFC, what a player. Great man too. Loved seeing TTG get the chance to meet one of his idols too. Great stuff. Keep at it fella. HWTL

@@tucosalamanca5194 yes.....just like anywhere else in the world you have the good side of town n the bad side of town. Don’t think anyone black or white would be walking down the bad side of town in your neck of the woods???

Geordie should get Karl pilkington on the podcast
Loved the interview, could listen to shearer all day, and hats off to you both for a class inter view
Now moving on to Eddie hall interview.
Think Geordie has properly made it now. Keep up the work mate!
I can say this as a Sunderland supporter, Alan Shearer was Englands best ever centre-forward and one of the best players I've ever seen. Had everything. Shows you the character of the man, he went to Newcastle when he could have gone anywhere in the world. Simply one of the best.
Awesome Interview! Loved Alan Shearer and all his goals for us, he was truly the best! Thanks for the memories.~ Blackburn Rovers Fan
