well Mike is natty, but a natty needs dedication and intelligence to build that kind of body. His hybrid strength and power/mass ideas are pretty spot on for most sports. But there should be more variety in the exercises. 6 sets of incline bench maybe a little boring. It can be 3 sets of inclines and 3 sets of dips. Two of the best exercises that contributed to the heaviest bench ever, but they also support each other. Benching needs tightness toes to shoulders, but at least you have the bench. In dips, your body is in the air, so it compliments benching that point. Benching needs an arching position, anterior pelvic tilt is needed. Dips work on posterior tilt to balance the anterior tilt, you are going to avoid bad posture. On the bench, the shoulder blades have little space to move, but they can move freely in dips, which is important to help train the stabilizing muscles and avoid stiffness there.
@@HernandezEvan this is actually a good program for natural though the frequnecy is low for each lift but it doesnt matter for the casual working guy with ajob etc, rest is more important
I'm not here to fight if he's natural or not.. i don't argue over things i dont know.. but his body compared to his height looks natural enough to me.. and the workout he suggested is pretty good, and I do feel the difference.. i had the same problem with more reps.. i'd get tired at the end of it.. but this style gave a pretty satisfying result.. his strength however is pretty impressive
I was one of the fans who blindly believed Norton and O'Hearn were natural. I did some digging around and I am not so sure anymore. Why do you think Layne is more probable?
When i train im chasing an incredible pump and so i prefer to only take about a 60 - 90 second break in between sets , but i understand that does limit the amount of poundage
1:31 "Cuz I combinate two things together, powerlifting and bodybuilding." I'm Mike fuckin O'Hearn, English does what I want, not the other way around, I'll inventify whatever new words I desiricate.
im 160lb @ 6ft. I've been bodybuilding since august this year after being a long time runner. Im 23 years old. I still struggle with 65lb db's for flat bench. this guy is a fucking strength beast doing almost tripple that weight. fuckin insane yo
I don't think he really flew at the end although it looks like it. I think he just jumped & because of his leg strength, he's able to leap such large distances, it looks like flying.
He is absolutely right!!!!!! I can't stand personal trainers and other know-it-alls preaching light weights with strict form to build muscle. Now there are some who can respond to that, however the vast majority of people need to train harder with heavy weights till failure and beyond. That's why muscles grow.
Most personal trainers teach strict form, usually because most people don't have it. People are misinformed and many times too lazy to do their own research. If they did, they wouldn't need anyone else to train them.
I love when people see bodybuilding and say that guy can't fight. He'd get his ass kicked in fight. He's training for aesthetics and strength. If you want to be a fighter then train like a fighter. Not everyone is in it to fight someone.
it's not roids guys. mike has been lifting since his early teens. you lift seriously for 20 plus years and see if you dont pack on muscle. this guy is to be admired. most of you couldn't stick to a 30 day training routine yet you want to ridicule somebody who's been doing it all his adult life.
This might seem low in volume but it's racks way up there In intensity. U go as heavy as u can for all exercises and ur good to go home. As long as u made that negative super slow ur chest will be done.
Some people call it being full of ones' self, some call it arrogance, and others call it being a douche, but lets call it what it really is, charisma. Seriously, would anybody watch this if he was a robot about it?
He never mentioned what his weekly routine was... 6 days? how many times each body part? other than that seems like an easy way to train imo... insane rest times compared to what i have done for 50 years...thanks
I'm doing this program kinda. Except on chest day I add 1 tricep isolation. And back workout I add 2 bicep exerc. Then instead of doing one day for arms I applied the 7sets of 4 to standing shoulder press. Because the real program by the way is 7x4 - 4 wks. 7x34wks the. 7x2 4wks. I am just about to complete month 1 and my lifts are up by 20 lbs or more.
I'm not good at English. Someone, please tell me about his Incline barbell press. Push every set to the limit? Or chose wight to reach the limit with the last set?

@2sexy4myshooz u start out 70% of 1 rep max. So what I did is each day that I would go hit chest back and legs I worked up to a 1 rep Max. I also made this same style workout for my shoulders. Mp. Is going way up to. The 7 sets is not including 3 warm up sets.
@ediot6969 i see what u mean.. hmm but my question is basically well if i wanna do it the way He does. What he says is: 6 sets of 5 OR like his program 7 sets of 4's were those 4s or 5s suppose to be weight u reach the Failure each set? or something u can do about6~8 reps but u do 4 reps instead? 1 So i'm saying for every 7 sets were u suppose to reach Failure? 2 and also the REST TIME. I dont think he covers this up completly within his vidoes.
I hope your not basing your statement on 1 video. There's more to his training regiment then this. But if you're wondering about why weightlifters and powerlifters aren't usually as cut etc, it has "A LOT" to do with the diet. You have to customize your Diet to what your goals are...diet is key.
i never knew he rested 3-5 mins between sets...maybe that is his secret to being so strong past fifty... Many of us just bust ass and rest maybe a minute or so between sets or super set...
the way I have understood the program is that you do 7 sets of 4 with the same weight on your power movement, and then you do a regular pyramide style on the 2 bodybuilding exercises. Am I correct or is it supposed to be the same concept on these exercises aswell?
Mike's training philosophy is spot on. Heavy weights stimulate growth not light weights. This holds true for all natural athletes.
"Natural"

Mike O'Hearn has impeccable form. No butt lifting in his flat bench and a modest arch on his incline. Extraordinary weight this guy is lifting.
Mike O'Hearn is legit. Sick ass mentality on lifting
I don't warm up! but you should.
i don't need a spotter! but you should.
mikes breakin all the rules hahaha
Great to see a guy use good form even when going heavy
This program works! 5 weeks in and I'm doing 225 on incline 7 sets of 3. I started doing 185 7 sets of 4. Gainz
