+Herbert Noverola agree with you. very Special Drummer with a philosophic mind behind. maybe he puts both together when he play ;-)he doing his own Thing and thats what i like him for.
I think Vinne Colaiuta, Dennis Chambers and Dave Weckl are just as good as Meyer if not more so - both heavily influenced by Buddy. Can't forget Tony Royster Jr.
You know why Vinnie got sacked from Sting's back? Vinnie is an amazing drummer, as is Chambers and Weckl. Even though his bpm is not always solid, jojo is an amazing, inventive joy to behold.
i finally got this guy's hand techniques learned... took almost forever.. there is a method i think i figured out how to really , i mean really teach it to ppl , Anderson Paak uses the same push-pull/moeller hybrid technique.... there was one youtuber who inspired me to learn it. he explained it proper to me and i created a step by step instruction for myself to learn the technique. there is a method now... not just this crazy shit where they tell you to look in a mirror.. soon enough i will start lessons, maybe after the winter i set up a small studio
My very drummer DNA is activated. Thanks for uploading this show. Long live NERVE. Jojo morphes Matter, Energy, Space and TIME !!!! This is an incredible shamanic experience. Jojo NERVE Journey !!!
This show reminds me so many peroids in life, so much memories - It's just a masterpiece and a never ending story... Jojo is a truly beat master and the whole band has incredible chemistry together. 5 years after the first time and i still amazed as the first time. Highly recommended live show
Really dope. I feel like much of the older Nerve stuff was meant as a showcase for Jojo to go nuts. There were some exceptions back then, but this new stuff feels restrained. Like they're more concerned with making sure the music is good instead of just virtuoso showmanship that only other drummers would care about.
People change. Overtime everyone's more concerned about how to make something sound musically better rather that lyrical (more catchy stuck rather than meaning, wordplay/rhetoric, etc.) Jojo is the same just different.
thanx for sharing this.wish i could go there to njoy the band. jojo is still one of my Idols since i started playing drums with 11. at that time he played in switzerland in a band called " Stiletto". someone remembers this band?greetz from Zürich!!!
Just a few views? This combination of musicians is so freaking awesome. And they seem to be quite relaxed while playing... even Jojo. Absolutely brilliant! :)
DVD resolution would be 720 × 576 . This video has 1080p (1920 x 1080) and is always available everywhere. Only reason to BUY (in my humble opinion) would be the wish to send money to NERVE. Get on their website and paypal them ;-)) just my 2 cents. ;-)
The music is; - encounters of another kind - it's like accessing another level of altered State of reality - surfing on extra spacial dimensions - mystical, magical yet in gentle groveness - the drums are inside of the rythems yet all encompassing - JJM just is teleporting us into another universe - the atmosphere of the music is something totally new to ones senses. Actually needs more sense elements to absorb more of JJM and his group
Good sound...good recording....I love this concert... New music added..especially the human voice which take this music to a new level...more of that..add sounds from different culture, human voice, and music from all over the world(get inspired by zawinul and his world....and there you go...booomm:) Love it..! Thank you Jojo Mayer drummer exstraordnary...
I was actually at a masterclass before a show and went on a rant about how fed up he was about drummers going up to him and obsessing over his technique :)
10:38 - Jojo plays a four on the floor beat kick-hat-kick&snare while with his left hand creates a snare roll build-up. He does has some trouble, but still, Is that insane or what?
Alexander DeSchutter It's stuff like that that keeps me practicing, because I can see even the best have to work hard. I might not become a drummer of world class, but it makes me feel like I can accomplish something
I'm a little confused why you have decided to highlight what I would consider is a dot in a patchwork of excellence. I'm not sure what it proves either? Jojo has produced electronic music with a humanistic feel in an incredible way. People who highlight such small detail publicly are usually just trying to use it to hide their own insecuirties and failures. I hope you're not doing that
I didn't highlight his mistake, but his incredible idea and the fact that he's not afraid to do it, even if he makes a small mistake or two. I like that spirit. You've got my comment all wrong.
+Robert Fennis They already have some songs that fit the style. Catachresis for example, Ulaan Bataar, maybe Them... You can listen to bands like Noisia and Black Sun Empire for more. Noisia even has some very technical programmed drum parts in most of their releases, and Split The Atom (by Noisia) is a reference in Neurofunk.
Salim N. I love Noisia and Black Sun Empire. Pythius, Gridlok are awesome but the best DJ-set I've heard to date is Billain's set I witnessed recently. It was absolutely insane.
I feel lucky to be a human being and be able to appreciate such music.
oh man, im feeling your immensity
Imagine what all the stupid medieval people have been missing out on...
wouldn't be surprised if even animals would love this
dig it
We animals appreciate it too.
If someone ever invents a sentient drum machine it would have a nervous breakdown listening to Jojo Mayer.

i've been following this man all my life and he's the most important drummer about rhythmical culture he`s the buddy rich of our era...

Sting's band - whoops.
Totally, you are correct - he is a great successor of Buddy Rich. He could be very proud if only he would still be alive...
Playing along at home on my kit. What a great click track!
i finally got this guy's hand techniques learned... took almost forever.. there is a method i think i figured out how to really , i mean really teach it to ppl , Anderson Paak uses the same push-pull/moeller hybrid technique.... there was one youtuber who inspired me to learn it. he explained it proper to me and i created a step by step instruction for myself to learn the technique. there is a method now... not just this crazy shit where they tell you to look in a mirror.. soon enough i will start lessons, maybe after the winter i set up a small studio

Wow! I learned something new! So Fauxtek has its name as a tribute to Photek! Awesome!
This show reminds me so many peroids in life, so much memories - It's just a masterpiece and a never ending story... Jojo is a truly beat master and the whole band has incredible chemistry together. 5 years after the first time and i still amazed as the first time. Highly recommended live show

🤩❤
Pure Genius. Thanks for such a great Music.
I love some of the "darker" turns...little hints of Eno and even early Pink Floyd....REALLY good shit...and i'm sober!!!
Fantastic !!!!!.... no words to describe how Good It is.... just Perfect !!!
Holy Moly!!!! John Bonham of our age! Talk about someone who created a style of his own and owned it. This guy is the real deal holyfield.
Thom Yorke from radiohead
Well John Bonham is by far some miles behind Jojo Mayer in technique, and Bonzo is only 15 years older
You totally missed the point.
Yeah, his style became mature, virtuosity != seeing how fast you can bang on everything
People change. Overtime everyone's more concerned about how to make something sound musically better rather that lyrical (more catchy stuck rather than meaning, wordplay/rhetoric, etc.) Jojo is the same just different.
just... great! jojo kick it, band as well, very good music

Just a few views? This combination of musicians is so freaking awesome.
And they seem to be quite relaxed while playing... even Jojo.
Absolutely brilliant! :)

GO JOJO
mesmerizing...
Wish one had another dozen sets of ears to consume all of this sonics
The music is;
- encounters of another kind
- it's like accessing another level of altered State of reality
- surfing on extra spacial dimensions
- mystical, magical yet in gentle groveness
- the drums are inside of the rythems yet all encompassing

Love it..! Thank you Jojo Mayer drummer exstraordnary...
50+ minutes onwards the music gets inter galactic.
Never knew the music of drums and the low bass can also become a medium of floatation
10:39, always makes me smile:) great technique
I was actually at a masterclass before a show and went on a rant about how fed up he was about drummers going up to him and obsessing over his technique :)
Zamanın Ötesindeler
I like the part where the video started. But not so much when it ended.
Ya mükemmeldi.

THIS IS SO SICK
John Davis is kiling with that synth bass sounds!
Can't even fathom the physical exertion on each of them esp JJM
10:38 - Jojo plays a four on the floor beat kick-hat-kick&snare while with his left hand creates a snare roll build-up. He does has some trouble, but still, Is that insane or what?
There is only one real flaw, so it's even more incredible
Yup. Insane. It's his beats like this that convince me he's an android (with a soul).
Alexander DeSchutter It's stuff like that that keeps me practicing, because I can see even the best have to work hard. I might not become a drummer of world class, but it makes me feel like I can accomplish something

Super!
Nerve reminds me of what I think society in Blade Runner would be listening to. How many Replicants in the audience?
Meshuggah is what I envision the people in Blade Runner would be listening to: ruclips.net/video/m9LpMZuBEMk/видео.html
