Really goes to show how a drummers style impacts the feel of the song. Lars takes a lot of flak but to me the song really doesn’t feel right without his drumming
I listened without looking at the captions at first. Not to see if I could figure out who you were being (although I got Bonham easily enough), but to see which one sounded most like what I'd be likely to do, then I could go back and check. Bit Nick Mason, but Bernard Purdie. I will absolutely take that.
I loved Rudd, Bonzo, Nick Mason, Ringo (the decision to do “The End” drum solo over the bridge followed by Come Together was bloody genius, that was great) and Neil, awesome job dude. As for some future suggestions, how about Keith Moon, Tré Cool, The Rev, Charlie Watts, Mike Portnoy or Dave Grohl/Taylor Hawkins?
Please follow a pattern on the cymbals... sometimes you are going 123, then 421 then 625... when recording Lars always go the same cymbals for similar parts... It allows him to make a progression, if the guitar is going from a low note to a higher note, he can follow hitting cymbals from bigger to smaller. Drummers should pay more attention not only playing but listening so they can compose better.
Nick Mason's part is just spot on LMAO, especially the "double stroke-ish" bass drum and the hi-hat between the fills. And great idea to put The End on Ringo's part. Honestly the two's part is pretty exchangeable IMO, with Nick's contain a spin of Sheep or Set The Controls while Ringo's contain a spin of Hello Goodbye or Don't Let Me Down. Neil's part is pretty good, but maybe you could throw some herta fill there.
You could easily replace the Bernard Purdie part with Jeff Porcaro tho, as he would basically play the same "in the pocket" pattern. The same goes for Gene Hoglan and Richard Christy. Their parts would be indistinguishable.
I haven't listened enough to Porcaro to know, but I think you would be able to tell the difference between hoglan and christy. In this case I just extended the scavenger of human sorrow intro, so it would be a big difference to what I would play for hoglan
That's actually Hetfields part, unless Hammett did it on the album. I've always thought it Hetfield, obviously because he did write, and is evident from the MOP demos and riff tapes
I am not sure if you are aware, but in 2004 there was a Metallica concert where Joey Jordison and Dave Lombardo took over from Lars (since mr. Ulrich couldn't be there). I am not one to often bash Lars but it sounded WAY better with those two. Lombardo went really wild on some tracks too. ~ But maybe you knew that already, just saying!
It sounds like you are miming playing guitar over the master track. No hate, just confused. Why show yourself playing at all if you're just overdubbing it anyway? And if you're overdubbing, why exclude the bass track? If you included it it was too quiet to hear. Good video otherwise
I mime on guitar in most of my videos when there's a break on the drums. It's just to keep peoples attention. I'm not that good on guitar and the original tone is probably better, so I just mime. In the future I might record it, but for now I think it's better than a black screen or me sitting around
@@carlolaison I wouldn't underestimate the value of genuine guitar work in your videos! You should definitely try recording the part yourself next time. If you don't like it you can change it later but I would encourage getting creative in light of giving up and using the master instead. Just to add some more authenticity to the whole package.
All of the Ringo parts were just actual Ringo songs 😭 respect tho good video
Thank you man
End solo
"The End" drum solo
Lombardo is actually really good and fits the song
No
@@Jimmothy_Coleslaw fym no

sounds like battery's drum riff
I mean, it's a thrash song, and slayer is a thrash band
Richard Christy was just scavenger of human sorrow lmao, well not literally but it kicked off like it. Fuck yeah
You caught me
The transition from Nick Mason to Ringo Starr was perfect! You are a diamond in the rough.
Thank you so much
Well said
Richard Christy didn’t have enough splashes and chinas😂
Really goes to show how a drummers style impacts the feel of the song. Lars takes a lot of flak but to me the song really doesn’t feel right without his drumming
I really like the Ringo part , the bass drum adds tension to the song
Yeah, I was surprised at how well it worked
Good ol Phil Rudd keeping it simple but doesn’t miss a beat
Like Lars in studio and some lives
The Nick Mason and Bernard Purdy sections were hilarious. Fun vid!
Thank you man
the bonham one is really accurate tho damn, shoulda added vinnie paul dave menza and bill ward too, but i love this video
Thank you man, they will probably be in future videos
Awesome video! Keep up the awesome work! You nailed the Nick Mason and Neil Peart drumming. Two of my favourite drummers!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it
Dave Lombardo & Richard Cristy are my favorites.
They are my favorites too

Ahh, you nailed the Ringo hihat-stroke
The Nick Mason part had me wondering how the ballad part would sound like if it was on Dark Side Of The Moon. Good video material that.
Nice vid 👍🏻
Thank you man. Yeah with some organs from Rick and a solo from Gilmour, that would sound great
A vinnie paul section would have been cool. Great video and great drumming!
Thank you. I will be sure to play like him in a future vid
I liked the outtakes at the end. Great addition to a well done video.
Thank you, I liked them as well
Amazing idea, but you need to get better cams and mics to make it great!
I do not have the economy to upgrade my mics or cams. You will have to make do with this, for now at least
Well none sounded better than Lars Ulrich, which is kind of reassuring.
Someone can a great songwriter and bad musician, he’s the nega-Alex Van Halen.
Personally I liked the John Bonham part
Nice job. Did you really break a stick playing Kieth Moon or is that just the way it looked n sounded to me? 🤘😝
It was for Lombardo, but thats a good one for a future video
got me with nick mason
Props for the rotos and for the ride chain! And the performance, Great work, man!
Thank you man
The Ringo Starr part had me laughing
Why do you have so many cymbals that stresses me out
great video btw
So that I never miss, I'm glad you liked the vid
Ringo and Neil's part was really cool
I came for one drummer in particular. I stayed for the other 9.
Who was that drummer?
@@carlolaison Neil, of course. 🙂
one of best videos i have seen lately, keep it up \m/

Nailed the Cris Cristy part 🤘😎
The begging of Ringo's part remind me od In-a-gadda-da-vida's drums solo.
Impressive and inspiring. Keep it up!
Thank you, I will
Were the little microphones apart of the drum set or did you have to pay for them separately? Weird question I know
Bought them seperate, from thomann

Dave Lambardo sounded awesome 👌

Nick Mason needed more mallet 😂
Of course! I forgot about that
Kirk with the middle finger 😂
I'm glad someone noticed lol
Try AHEAD drumsticks, comfortable and don't break, I switched over from wooden to AHEAD, it really changed my life.
Please make a part 2 with Eloy Casagrande, Charlie Watts, Phil Taylor, Roger Taylor and Scott Travis
well done !!!!

Scott Travis in part 2?
Nice video, btw
Awesome job capturing all those great drummers and their styles. Lombardo rules!
Early Meshuggah sounded like Metallica a bit, but more technical.
That’s why I never use wood sticks
What sticks do you use?
lars commented this
Purdie metal 😂
Nice
Bonham ❤
NIce. I liked Richard Christy on Metallica :)
Phil rudd has unreasonable groove
Nobody plays a straight 4/4 beat better than him
But.... The Rev, you can't forget The Rev.
I was surprised to see someone mentioned Jimmy
I think this video only contains drummers from Lars' era and before, but maybe he'll add Jimmy if he make a part 2
Feel like simply playing Tom Sawyer on the Neil Peart part does not do justice to what he potentially could have played there.
It totally felt like he was building up to something there too. Could've been really cool :(
I'll do it better next time
LOL😅
No ride no peart.
He was doing the Tom Sawyer beat. Peart didn't only do the ride groove
The Dave Lombardo one makes it sound like battery lowk like that more than Lars on this song 😅
It kinda does
Lombardo best !
Mario Duplantier would have gone so hard
Ooo, I forgot about him. I'll 100% do that in the next one
That’s not quite my tempo
Drummer: good
Cymbals: not
