This album influenced me to start playing guitar. I started in 1977 and I still play....Never stopped! Ace was my hero.
That solo at the end of Shock Me still sends chills.🎸🎶🤟
Me too, still have and play my 1980 cherry sunburst LP.....but I always thought Paul was the better player.
Being a KISS fan in Mexico City in the middle 70's when I was a kid was not easy , but now a days I'm not repent at all of those days . I love a lot of rock bands , but KISS were my first rock heroes for real .

Love the rawness of this.. unpolished, no overdubs... just the guys doing what they do.. Dominated the world for a few years. Then.... the painful decline.
No overdubs? You must be new. Some of the tracks were totally recorded in the studio. They never EVER played Tomorrow and Tonight live in the 70s. You can hear multiple simultanous Paul Stanley voices in some of the choruses where they've fixed up the vocals. No overdubs? Man you KISStards are dumb.
That Spaceman is super! Go Tommy! You're the one and the only! Even Eric is playing with excitement. It makes me wonder if it's really them. 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Yeah- say what you want about them, they were fucking huge in the 70's. Imagine if KISS never was. You wouldn't have had all those little kid memories and dreams of seeing or meeting KISS. My fuckin idols growing up in the 70's

Me too- My dad & our next door neighbor too me & my friend, I was 10. I still have the shirt-it's small enough for a toddler. Also saw Rush & OZZY & UFO at Capital Centre.

My Father took my friends and I to our first show, I was 10yo. I looked over at him halfway through and he had his ears covered with his hands. He served in WWII and Korea......I felt so bad

The thing is, Kiss lost a lot when Peter left the band. He was a big part of their success with awesome songwriting. Black Diamond, Beth, Baby Driver, Hard Luck Woman. People talk about his lack of drum skills and shit, but he was KISS, along with ACE!! There is no replacing the originals!! Like going to a Journey concert without Steve!

He didn't write any of those songs except Beth which He co-wrote with Stan Penridge.He was let go because His Cocaine usage had spiralled out of control making Him impossible to work with.Eric Carr saved the band from His ridiculous shenanigans.
I'm actually a Peter fan but cannot deny anything that you said. As a matter of fact, several songs such as Black Diamond and Strange Ways Peter point blank said "I'm singing those songs or I'm quitting the band." The biggest reason why he was booted wasn't for the cocaine use perse (Ace indulged too) but the final straw was that he sabotaged a few shows. Out of spite he'd speed up super fast and then slow it down ridiculously slow.
@@user-lb8qx8yl8k The drugs were the reason for His temper tantrums which lead to Him sabotaging the songs..Drugs made Him impossible to work with & Ace was the same but His bad Guitar nights were easier tolerated than Peter's Drumming fiasco's..A bad Drummer destroys the band where as a wrong note here n there in solo's can always be buried in the mix.

All those hours, me on the broomstick guitar, him drumming away on the side of his bed with drumsticks! LOL. I would have CRAPPED myself if I had these videos at the time, and could actually see them performing! Started playing guitar because of these guys.

This is proof that the orignial lineup in the 70s was the real Kiss. And Peter absolutely gets no respect. He was the perfect drummer for these songs.

Paul and Gene had partly to do with that. On the other hand, it's not like Peter had much of a career outside of KISS either.
The original four had a special on-stage synergy. The energy was electric ✨️ when they were together.

The song was written by Kim Fowley, manager of The Runaways (Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Cherie Currie et al.) Ace Frehley recently admitted he briefly dated The Runaways bassist, Jackie Fox, who has since became a woke feminist lawyer.

I didn't read 90% of your ramblings, but I can guarantee there are younger Kiss fans out there that aren't aware of The Runaways or of the fact that their manager wrote the song. Fowley also co-wrote "Do You Love Me?" Personally, never been a huge fan of the song KNW. And yes, we all know Kiss worked with a ton of writers (Fowley, Bolton, Bryan Adams, Lou Reed, Desmond Child, Holly Knight to name a few) and a lot of studio musicians.
Ladies Room is very underrated, especially the George Harrison style solo.
Been a KISS fan since 75. Had their first 3 albums on 8-track. Out of their entire song catalog this is still my al time favorite.

Loved that Album cover as a kid. Still do. After this came the solo albums and a decline in the whole thing.
Ace's solo album was my fave AND the best...and he wasn't the one of the main songwriters in KISS
Same...stared at that double album centerfold while playing the records on a cheap KMart Emerson record player.....used to skip so I taped pennies to keep the needle in the grove....
Being a major fan as a kid, I was disappointed in Love Gun, and the studio tracks on Alive II. Decline indeed.

I got Alive II for my 8th birthday. Favorite songs were God of Thunder and Rocket Ride. In 2nd Grade I was into astronomy and thought that's what Rocket Ride was about. You know, rockets, space, stars, etc

Damn, I had forgotten about all of this old school Rock & Roll for quite a while but these guys were really good back in the day.
Rock & roll over is my most favorite album kiss has. Hard for me to believe some of those songs are underrated

People can always try to hate on this band, but they are one still one of the main bands that put Rock at or near the top of the mountain! Still one of the best!!! They were my introduction into rock n roll and my 1st concert Kiss Army for life. Kiss Alive 2 was my 1st live album. I had already got the Love Gun album a couple of months earlier.

I'm really surprised that either none of you knew this or nobody bothered to mention it.....Kiss alive 2 was all sound check recordings and both live albums were completely doctored up to make a marketable release. I did see them at the cow palace in 1977 and I can't tell how many times my feet came off the floor. I was 13 and my buddy and I got stuck down on the floor about 10 feet from the stage and we couldn't get out or breathe and we were getting trampled badly but the older dudes were so cool and picked us up and passed us over their heads to safety at the back of the crowd... thanks older dudes..that was cool and I have told that story to so many people over the year...great memories of childhood in the 70s..great show!

I was informed over 20 years ago that Gene used recordings from sound checks and added the audience for effects. The comparison to that album vs the video footage of live shows from that same era is too different. Paul moves away from the mic during the performance and and the albums that's not happening. Look I love kiss more than anyone

The concert footage at the beginning was the best outfits they ever wore. Especially Gene's.
The Aucoin era rules in my book as far as the outfit and look. I was upset when Gene put on those shoulder wings during the reunion 96' tour. KISS decided to replicate the Love Gun era outfits for the reunion, but Gene's outfit was "off", wasn't right. Why alter the outfit? It was kind of a bummer seeing those things on his shoulders, it's those little details get to you as a fan.
Ace was the most talented one on that stage! He could do circles around the others with that guitar!! 😲

I was at the 1st night of the Fourm shows in Los Angeles 16 rows back on the floor I will never forget it. AWESOME. 1977 was a great year and Lynyrd Skynyrd the next day in Anaheim.

Ese fué el primer disco de Kiss que escuché por primera vez, era de un amigo de los años de secundaria (1978), entre los 17 y 18 años de mi vida en Venezuela, me chocó el sonido fuerte de su música y esos maquillajes fuera de lo común (yo como fanático de The Beatles creí que su sonido se parecería en algo, nada que ver), sin embargo, cada vez que lo escuchábamos cuando nos reuníamos a escuchar discos lo iba asimiiando más y más junto con otros de la misma época y me fuí convenciendo de lo bueno de su música, actualmente con 60 años tengo su colección completa y lo disfruto mucho y sus espectáculos, verdaderamente fantásticos...!!!

Love how Peter just looks up and taxes never missing a beat. Ace in his own zone as if he's alone. Gene and Paul ok but lost their best. Now living as ghosts from the past.
In the workup to the Destroyer album, producer Bob Ezrin had put them through a sort musicians boot camp since they were not quite pro level with their instruments, so it's not like these guys had any natural chops but it got the job done.

Love KISS...Alive II was the first KISS I heard at the age of 7. Love the rawness of this. But all I can think is what a nightmare for the producer/engineer to put together Alive and Alive II. They must have heard the tapes and thought WTF are we going to do with this! LOL But, whatever they did, it sounds great and I'm totally fine with the massive amount of overdubs.

I remember going to church as a kid one Sundaymorning and the pastor talked about this evil "Kiss" band playing at the Capital Center later that week, a few days before Christmas! This was the concert I heard about. I had never even heard of Kiss before the pastor has raised the fact that they were playing at a venue a half hour from where we lived. I left church that day thinking that this evil "Kiss" band must be really important in some way if the pastor is talking about him in his sermon.
I think I saw that in a movie once.

Me too!! 12-19-1977 I didn't know who AC/DC were at the time but I do remember Bon Scott wading through the aisles with Angus Young perched on his shoulders since they were using the cordless mic and guitars at the time. RIP Capital Centre!!

I was at the show the night before with AC/DC opening. Funny how Paul screams LARGO! Largo was only a tiny town. Capital Centre covered the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. LARRRGO :D

I don’t get it. What makes this the real Alive2? The sequence matches the record? Alive2 was recorded on the Love Gun tour and opened with I Stole Your Love, Take Me, etc They never played Hard Luck Woman or Tomorrow and Tonight and the whole thing was just cobbled together to make a live record that didn’t repeat what was already on Alive.
Anyway I do like the sound here but don’t get what it has to do with Alive2 necessarily.
Agreed and considering the truth behind Alive 1 being heavily over dubbed in the studio after the concert recordings I would imagine Alive 2 was heavily over dubbed as well on select concert recordings also. Still one of my favorite bands and live albums though.
