John, I am a BIG Miami Hurricane fan! I was born and raised in South Florida, better known as the 305. At the same time, I have tons and tons of respect for Ohio State! They are a great team that is full of tradition and winning. I cannot even begin to deny that. As for the Rose Bowl game, OSU is going to absolutely CRUSH the Huskies, and they will carry out the coach off the field as a winner. Final score Huskies-18 OSU-49. Next year I hope the U can play better.

I'm not gonna say too much, as I do think a brain cyst is not something to take lightly. But he did this at Florida too. He took a couple of years off, then went back to coaching. He also did this around the time of allegations and other junk at florida. Just something to think about. Otherwise, he was a good coach for a good osu team, and my Michigan could never beat him. I don't know if Coach Meyer is sick or not, but in my opinion is he decided long ago that he didn't need all the headaches that came with being a head coach. Coach Meyer has accomplished a lot in his career. Maybe one day he'll be offered the AD position at The Ohio State. I wish him well in his future endeavors.
He would actually have a backbone unlike Gene Smith, that would be really cool to see. Then JT comes back as our QB coach or OC.

Lifelong Michigan fan here. Part of me wants to say I won't miss the guy. Part of me wants to bring up the scandal where he was protecting his long time wife-abusing assistant.
But, I can't deny the high level he brought Ohio State to and maintained for the last 7 years. Kind of wish Michigan had one last crack at him, just to say we finally won one against him if they could pull it off, but he clearly has been in pain this last year with his health issues. I do wish the guy well and hope he finds some relief. One of the all time great coaches for sure.

Gene Smith needs to go. He pushed out Meyer and messed up OSU’s playoff chances for the last two years. Their Haskins Heisman campaign was the worst I have seen in three decades with the most talented offensive player OSU has had at QB ever. The President of the University also bears responsibility here.

imma rant here. even as a michigan fan, i never like to see a winning coach fall to illness like this, however, this is urban meyer. I like to think of this man as the modern Woddy Hayes, and no that's not a compliment. i would have liked to beat him before he left and I'm sorry about his sickness, but this is a coach that surrounded the big ten in controversy and I'm glad to see him go

FACT: that abysmal loss to Purdue is unforgivable, and rightly so. They did not deserve to be in the 4-team playoff due to that loss.
I wanted Chris Spielman to be OSU's new coach. Spielman knows Ohio, knows the rivalry with Michigan, and is full of energy and enthusiasm. I never played football, but I would run through a wall for Spielman. I don't feel the same way about Ryan Day. Ryan Day will be another John Cooper. Michigan fans should throw all sorts of parties and be celebrating this move. Michigan will soon own the rivalry with Ohio State again after a nearly 20 year absence. Cooper(Ryan)Day is a good coach, like Cooper was, but doesn't know the true meaning of the big rivalry versus that team up north. Urban's having to step down due to health reasons AND Day(not Spielman)being named Ohio State's next head football coach probably saves Jim Harbaugh's coaching job at the Maize and Blue(TTUN).

Urban Meyer is a great coach and when he was at UNIVERSITY OF UTAH he did so much for our team and community. It was sad to see him go . Ohio State was just too big to turn down. Next year Utah vs. Ohio State in the Rose Bowl
Playoffs should be Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia. I could entertain an argument for Oklahoma over Ohio State but Notre Dame is definitely a rung below any of those five teams. Meyer is clearly a flawed human being (who isn't?) but at the top of the heap (with Saban) in college football head coaching.
