I met Rick, once, near the outskirts of Lyndell. I asked him what it all means--the meaning of life. He smiled and said this: "'Tis simple, nobel Tarnished. 'Try finger. But hole'". Then he mounted his horse facing the wrong direction, took up the steed's tail into his hands as though it were reigns, and trotted off toward the setting sun. Rick truly does work in mysterious ways.
Rick facts: The Greater Will is only ‘greater’ because Rick’s will is the greatest. When Miquella dreams, he dreams of Rick. Gordfrey never considered Rick a worthy adversary because he knew he could never hope to beat Rick.
When Rykard said he intends to devour the gods, he was referring primarily to Rick (to whom he was named after), but despite his power, Rykard procrastinated that goal for he still feared Rick's power
The reason that Rick carries a Zweihandler is because once, while Rick was creating the Walking Maloseum in the Weeping Peninsula, he was secretly being watched by the Isolated Merchant who lives nearby. The Merchant accidentally caught a glimpse of Rick's True Power, and was blinded. For this reason that Merchant wears a mask. Rick took pity on this colorful Merchant, and bought the now blind merchant's sword for one hundred fifty three times the intended price. But the Isolated Merchant never knew it was Rick who bought the sword, due to blindness, and still dreams of a terrifying warrior. These dreams have come into reality every night in the form of a Bell Bearing Hunter.
The worst part of this is the idea of the bell bearing hunters being the effects of the madness worshipping merchants fear of the Golden order is a legit badass idea
Nah you got it wrong. He got the inspiration for his holy weapon from an other god, who is reffered to as 'Giant Dad' by many tarnished warriors throughout the Lands Between.
The reason why rick looks like a run of the mill soldier in the service of godrick, is so that the Tarnished would seek out godrick first. Not only did Rick pity the weak Lord but also wanted the Tarnished to meet their greatest challenge on the way, to see how great their willpower really was, that being Margit the fell Omen

Incredible... Gideon knew, in a way, the logic of the world. He was just missing a singular piece. It is about time someone writes the fanfic AU in which Gideon is finally enlightened to Rick's influence and true motive before he fights the Tarnished. This could change everything.
I'm still amazed that we got so much background lore around rick, soldier of god with the demigods, the lands between and even the previous elden lords.
Rick, the Soldier of God was said to hold the Lands Between and the Lands Far away together, so that Godfrey wouldn't just drown in sea, as every boss in the game can't swim. What a nice guy!
Rick orchestrated the entire storyline. Being Rick, Solider of God. He rid his exist as Elden Lord, Father of the Lands Between and sat back to watch the story unfold. You could still find him and heed his wisdom. Greeting you the tarnished himself as a way to test your strength, from one god to another he felt the potential in the tarnished and passed down his God like powers to a being who has no purpose, had thoughts of his own, filled with curiosity and befitting of his pass crown and finally let the Tarnished decided the fate of the world that he had been observing for so long
Being serious, I think the tutorial cave is an isolated, small mine, with the generic non soldier NPCs being used as slave labour, and the soldiers being their guards. The actual Soldier of Godrick then is the person running the whole operation, to little success
They cpuld have gave him a sliglty different skin though. But in the end its ok. I knew this would have turned into a giant meme the mome nt i laid my eyes on him.
I remember having to make a new character because I was stuck at Rick. After I killed Elden Beast and Malenia, I returned to Rick and just barely managed to beat him. Putting an enemy like that at the start of the game is truly one of FromSoftware's most cruel jokes on the players.
It’s so awesome how he twisted the irl lore so well. Like if this is what a first time person trying to learn the lore found before finding the real stuff. They’d be screwed
I had actually never known why malenias went to caelid! Makes much more sense now, and very sad that her ultimate goal was right under her feet when she came to a draw with radahn
Rick is called the soldier of god for a reason. God in this case is the player and Rick faithfully serves the player throughout the game, secretly helping here and there. In fact, Rick knew about the arrival of the player for a long time, broke the fourth wall and hid in the colosseum, guarded by a large jug. Because Rick can do anything. In addition to repairing pvp, here, unfortunately, he is powerless
Then when the tarnished arrived at the haligtree Rick removed his armor down to his loin cloth placed a pot over his head to disguise himself grabbed two katanas and spoke 4 divine words to the the tarnished, “let me solo her.”
It's a good thing that Rick goes so easy on us the first time we see him; if he tapped into even 0.5% of his true power, he could simply plunge his sword through the screen and delete our universe from existence, weaving the world of Elden Ring into reality in our place.
I was really just expecting this to be a funny meme video but the way you explain it…it all sounds so true…I am a believer, a believer in The Soldier of God, Rick.
Something I recently learned: Apparently his arena was supposed to be absolutely littered with corpses, and stained on every surface with blood - both old and new. The water was supposed to be red, the ground that you stand on would just be a mass of dead bodies, all to convey that you are not the first and certainly not the last tarnished/God he has effortlessly killed. Budget, time constraint, and for storage reasons, it was eventually decided to be a generic wet cave. I hope the DLC would give him his proper arena.
It’s canon: Demigods < Tarnished < Malenia, blade of Miquella < Starscourge Radahn < Malenia, goddess or Rot < Let me solo her < God Rick, the soldier = Telesto.
Credit to From Software for putting the final boss near the tutorial area of the game. Pretty bold choice considering you encounter this boss at the end of NG+100.
I can't imagine the players that have to wait till Christmas/they're birthday's to get the game and wondering who soldier of God, Rick is. And letting the memes take hold and just leaving the dungeon as soon as his name pops up
I spent 24 hours with Soldier of God, Rick. The first thing I noticed was the nefarious look in his eyes, I asked him what's on his mind. Then a short silence followed, he then he said, "Been thinking a lot about feasible alternative to combustion engines and how it can affect the GDP of several developing nations." Right then and there, my mind was completely blown away.
I beat the boss of the chapel of anticipation (the starting area) first try then got my first death of the game against Rick soldier of god (I was trying to practice my parry) so he holds a special place for me
Rick saw me using rivers of blood, the disappointment mixed with disgust on his face made me truly ashamed of my actions and to this day I have never used it again.
rick. Soldier of god is actually the outer god the anchent dragons believed in. however he was sealed in a cave. the rick we fight is just a projection.
They really should make this into a thing. For any player who skips the tutorial area and kills Elden Beast. Then you should be able to go back and fight Rick, but at full power.
After having taught the goats the art of the "Rick Roll," the goats out of pure joy, happiness, everlasting love & respect, wrote & sang a tributary song to Mr Rick, the God. The song goes as follows: "Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around &, desert you!" Once this Heavenly song of tribute was finished, to the delight of Rick, the goats of The Lands Between officially presented Mr Rick the royal title of, Soldier of "GoatRick." As they saw him to be the 1 true G.O.A.T. of The Lands Between!
Once met Rick while takin a pee in Limgrave, he decided to pee next to me, looked at my junk and said "nice", it was cold that day, Rick really knows how to make a fella feel special, never saw him again
So wait. You're telling me that I was able to complete the game on multiple playthroughs not because of my improving skills, but only because Rick allowed it to happen? I don't know if I should be sad or thankful, but it at least explains why I was able to do so as my first Souls game. So, now that we got deep lore dives on Let Me Solo Her and Rick, will we get one for The Wall?
I personally find the theory that Rick is actually a manifestation of the One Great, the almighty god who created all life and souls, to be extremely compelling. That would be the most logical explanation as to how he's by far the most powerful being in the Lands Between, however it is debatable whether our primitive forms of logical deduction can even come close to understanding the complexities of Rick, Soldier of God, who may exist on another plain of existence or perhaps all of them at once. It's possible he's a being that's somehow more powerful than even the One Great.
As stated by Gideon ofnir a "man cannot kill a god" i belive this is rick speaking through his ashes as he fades, subtlety implying that Rick is possessing you or gifting you the strength required to kill a god
It is said that there was once a legendary battle between pinwheel, Jabba the hut's little bro, the witches of hemrick, nameless king, Mist noble, and Rick. It was a hard fought battle but the name of the victor was lost to time. Also the legends also said nameless king died first

Rick invented the elden ring
Rick rolled the Lands between to oblivion.
rick. Soldier of god is actually the outer god the anchent dragons believed in. however he was sealed in a cave. the rick we fight is just a projection.
in the Rick’s end (true ending) he turn himself into a pickle, funniest shit ever
They really should make this into a thing. For any player who skips the tutorial area and kills Elden Beast. Then you should be able to go back and fight Rick, but at full power.
I loved the cutscene before the game where he yells: "It's Rickin' time!" before he ricked all over the arena 🥲
Truly one of the games of all time 👏👏
After having taught the goats the art of the "Rick Roll," the goats out of pure joy, happiness, everlasting love & respect, wrote & sang a tributary song to Mr Rick, the God.
The song goes as follows: "Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around &, desert you!"
Once this Heavenly song of tribute was finished, to the delight of Rick, the goats of The Lands Between officially presented Mr Rick the royal title of, Soldier of "GoatRick." As they saw him to be the 1 true G.O.A.T. of The Lands Between!
Rick, Soldier of God doesn't just dodge,
He Rick rolls
I missed him the first time I played bc I didn’t trust the ghost. I thought the jump down was a “gotcha bitch!” moment
Once met Rick while takin a pee in Limgrave, he decided to pee next to me, looked at my junk and said "nice", it was cold that day, Rick really knows how to make a fella feel special, never saw him again
You know, fuck the DLC, i want the REAL FINAL BOSS BATTLE against god`s greatest Soldier.
Rick
So wait. You're telling me that I was able to complete the game on multiple playthroughs not because of my improving skills, but only because Rick allowed it to happen?
I don't know if I should be sad or thankful, but it at least explains why I was able to do so as my first Souls game.
So, now that we got deep lore dives on Let Me Solo Her and Rick, will we get one for The Wall?
i honestly love ricks videos man, and this is one of the best!
Rick is actually the soul of cinder
It is said that there was once a legendary battle between pinwheel, Jabba the hut's little bro, the witches of hemrick, nameless king, Mist noble, and Rick. It was a hard fought battle but the name of the victor was lost to time.
Also the legends also said nameless king died first
