A great way to lift the boat off the trailer...lower the tounge jack all of the way down, put jack stands under the boat then crank the jack up, it'll lift the boat off the trailer. I just did a full roller to bunk conversion on my trailer this way and it works great.
@@RFishingtx NP. Great video BTW. I wanted to do those type of boards, they were out of the budget though since I did 4 bunks and had to buy all new brackets. Next time around I probably will.
Recently picked up a 22 model pro 170, I was looking around for adders and mods - glad I found you, those bunk boards look terrible, hard to believe they did not use treated lumber
Thanks! I heard that pressure treated wood has a higher concentration of copper, which results in a chemical reaction that discolours and corrodes aluminum. Overall I’m pretty happy with the ultimate bunks after adding the bunk carpet strips. I will likely get that Drotto latch everyone has mentioned at some point in the near future
I have the same growth on mine. i have a 2022 Pro Guide tracker. took several pics and went to Idaho Fish and Game. Their in house biologist said they looked like a fungus.. He suggested to scrape them off and spray with straight bleach. I did. Growth was back in two weeks. Im changing by bunks and the wood. I dont feel it can be healthy for the eco system to add to our rivers and lakes. Im in and out of the river 3-4 times a week. Like you I think its from the wood used, come on Tracker! time to step up your game. What the heck. H.R. Bell Nampa Idaho
Thanks for checking out my channel. I was blown away at the condition of the wood after only 2 years on a garage kept boat. First time I had seen growth like that and I have owned a few different boats at this point. I decided to do the ultimate bunks because I kept hearing that pressure treated wood has a higher concentration of copper, which results in a chemical reaction that discolours and corrodes aluminum.
Bass Trackers are cheap way to get on the water. Fits most working mans pocketbook. I have had 2 Trackers and then I bought a new Ranger tin boat. The difference was like night and day. even the trailer. Sure, the Ranger cost a few thousand more but boy was it worth it. I love this Ranger.
Thanks for sharing! At some point in the not too distant future, I will likely replace my Tracker with either a Ranger or an Xpress tin boat. Glad to hear you love your Ranger.
they are -- great first boats, I also have a 170 and it fits my needs but the next one will be a little bigger maybe another tracker like a 175 minimum I dont know yet.... I think for someone like me just starting out they are a great choice, they come with all the basics and it's all new for a reasonable cost. is it the best boat on the lake?? no not at all but you are on the lake and learning a lot about boating / fishing and narrowing down what you really want in the future I will keep mine for at least a few more years mostly because Ive also done a fair amount of upgrading on this one already.
Saw this on the FB group and this is an upgrade ive thought about doing but haven’t gotten any further than that ….. my plan was to go to the lake on a quiet day and put the boat on the dock then change the boards out (pre measured of course) but was wondering how to get the angle and lengths / position on the trailer to match the boat right to make sure i can get the boat back on the trailer! Great video and the bunks on my 22 already have that stuff on them as well, I thought it was carpet glue that had seeped out - but I guess not. Can you do a follow up after launching / loading a couple of times as well to see the difference? --- I have the same boat as you same posts on the back to help with the wind as well! I tried getting that rub rail also but they have sent me the wrong size twice so far - it's like they're sending random lengths they have laying around the warehouse! let us know how the launch / loading goes! did you lift at front and back or just that one spot on the rear? - you got the 8ft board length correct? using the old ones as a template is a great idea at least for one of the two holes I like the grey I was considering getting the black but might do grey.
I would definitely recommend doing the upgrade. I was blown away at how bad the condition of the old bunks were in. I just raised the back. Are you ordering the rub rails from amazon?
@@RFishingtx I did -- twice they sent the wrong length -- twice. It looks like we need about 15 1/2 feet for each side so total of about 32 feet sounds simple right?????? anyway first I ordered 32 ft they sent a 25 ft piece and another 7 ft piece - I dont want seams so I returned that and thought Id make it more clear so I ordered two 16 ft sections - they sent a 28 foot and a 5 foot section so I just returned that... after they process the refund I might order a 16 foot section and then order another 16 ft section on my wife's amazon or at least two separate orders a couple of days apart so that maybe I will actually get what I ordered 😂--- two intact 16 foot sections I can cut to fit the sides. anyway, it looked like good quality stuff but I just dont want to deal with seams or joints so Ill try again in a few days and see what happens. I did look at the bunk boards today but wow that shipping charge is crazy! its almost more than the boards! --- like $90 to ship and $90 to purchase of course I guess you already know that. -Im sure I will order them but gotta digest that $90 shipping charge for a few days and mine are only one year old so I can probably wait but knowing me - ill get them before to long. - thinking black to match the rest of the trailer..... I have a section of 4x4 post, I wonder if I could lift a side with that and my floor jack? anyway, good video --- you said about 8 inches from the front support correct???? -- let us know how they do first launch / load!
Boards should not be fully covered. The bottoms should be left open with at least 2 to 3 inches so water can get out and drain properly it's lasts years😊
Thanks for the video. These are my exact installation thoughts. Looks like a great job. Good looking boat by the way.
Thanks! 👍🏼

I wonder if the ultimate bunk noard are the same as plastic lumber.
All I know is they’re made from High-Density Polyethylene Plastic with a UV inhibitor. So far they have been great.

did you raise both the front and back at the same time or just the back to take the bunks off?
I jacked the trailer up and set up the stands at the back which held the boat off the old bunks when the trailer was lowered back down.
Whered you get the rub rail at? My pro 170 doesnt have one

Can you share the link where you purchased your bunk boards
www.ultimatebunkboards.com/store/original-bunk-boards/2-x-4-original-gray-detail
Invest in a drotto bow lock, your slide off trailer problem will be solved.
Thanks! Its on my list for sure. 👍🏼
what length did you purchase
I purchased the 7’11” (8’) bunks
Thanks!
