    Alright! I have successfully installed my new Tuff Bunks. Previously I struggled because the lag bolts did not fit my specific trailer. The company supplied a new bunk free of charge and even waived the shipping cost! Anyway, the installation was as easy as the video implied. All went very well. I have used them probably a dozen times (I fish a lot) and they are quit solid. They are more difficult to winch onto the trailer even when they are wet as the company directs. If it is a sunny, windy day, they dry off within a minute making loading more difficult. My winch is very heavy duty and I have above average strength; so, it has not been a big problem for me. On to positive statements: I will say they are very solid, high quality pieces that will probably last a long time. I agree they will likely prevent the spread of invasive species. The company really did come through for me and even provided a number to call if I struggled with installation again. Integrity means a lot to me and I feel this company really wanted me to be a satisfied customer. They succeeded! I am very pleaded with my purchase!

    Don’t like the lag bolts. The wood around the lag bolts will rot out, and these will fall out. I would like to see a counter sunk bolt and nut, with a washer on the wood side with the holes epoxied during installation, or some of your material to waterproof the hole above the bolt and washer. I have GatorBak’s now and they are pretty good, but power loading does skin them up. Using the same boards Ranger used in the trailer from 1999. Not sure if they are pine. Likely not.

    • @protechmats5274
      @protechmats5274  Год назад

      Thank you for your comment. We've considered the counter sunk thru bolt method and you correctly understand that sealant is necessary. We maintain the waterproof integrity of Tuff Bunk by installing with urethane sealant on the lag bolt penetration. Tuff Bunks start as untreated, prime grade, kiln dried fir for our boards.

    • @tonyjordan1320
      @tonyjordan1320 2 года назад +1

      That sounds like a excellent idea-you would eliminate the screw holes rotting out wouldn't you???

    • @Straight0uttaCrofton
      @Straight0uttaCrofton 2 года назад

      @@tonyjordan1320 if i did it i would probably drill holes all the way through and countersink stainless t nuts down through the top for a bolt to bite into from the bottom.
      not sure the composite would be stiff enough though, even if doubled it up. would depend on the span i suppose.
      i saw another video where they used this "plastic wood", but they even said it might have too much flex so not really sure.

      Hello Tom, thank you for your interest in our Tuff Bunk.
      We do not make boards for every situation because there are a lot of different boats and launch ramps, however, we will always do what we can to make our customers happy.
      With that said, every Tuff Bunk board that leave here is inspected and sanded smooth on the top surface. This change in the boards came after we receive input from the consumer that the boards might scratch the bottom of their boat. We had a non-slip surface on the boards that was great for application like yours so we can make that for you. If your boat has a black polished bottom like our customer that was worried about scratches, then maybe this product is not for you.
      #1 current boards have sanded surface.
      #2 old style board has non-slip textured surface.
      Both #1 and #2 Tuff Bunk boards are way better than wet or worn-out carpeted board.
      Hope this helps.

      * The boat won't slide off if you keep it snubbed at the winch. I bet you like to take off all your tie downs, then back your boat into the water. Once the boat starts to float you give your trailer a little jerk to cause the boat to float free of the trailer, then you drive away and come back to retrieve boat with that long rope. Keeping the boat tied to the winch isn't going to slow you down that much.

    My opinion the Ultimate Bunk Boards are better since they are 100% composite boards which NEVER wear or rot like anything made with wood. Of course these are a nice option but not the best option.

    • @protechmats5274
      @protechmats5274  Год назад

      Composite boards do offer the advantage of long life over carpeted boards. Composite boards will sag at lengths over 60" and their surface is extremely slick. This may not be the best option for everyone.

      Thank you for your comment. We understand that Tuff Bunk trailer boards may not be the best fit for every budget or needs. We provide the only non-skid, completely waterproof (when installed with urethane sealant on the lags) solution at lengths over 60". Wraps and composite bunks have their place but don't directly compare to Tuff Bunk trailer boards.
