This year, one of my goals is to bring you more cinematic content through my silent vlogs. I want to challenge myself to share a piece of my mind in these films and stop worrying about the work it takes. Because phew 😮💨 It took hours and hours to film this short, but it was all worth it. You might notice a change in my style as I match my ideas to my vision. I believe film is my purpose, and I want to live more in that purpose and give it my all. "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." - Proverbs 16:3
Sam why do you steam your hair? It doesn't look super dry. I also applaud you for embracing your grey hair. It looks great on you. I can't bcus it looks horrible on me being dark dark. I look old bcus it's on my face. I don't care about the few in the back but on my face it looks horrible and I hate looking old.
Thanks for the kind words about my grey hair! I steam my hair because I noticed that products weren't penetrating my hair-they were just sitting on the surface. Steaming helps with that issue and makes my hair softer. It’s more about ensuring my hair gets the most benefit from the products I use. Embracing grey hair is a personal journey, and it’s important to find what makes you feel comfortable and confident. Sometimes you just need more time to embrace the greys. And that’s completely okay!
@@SamanthaPollack I love when grey beauties give this type of advice! It’s about being kind to yourself 1st (in both words and actions). I’m 18 months transition to grey at 43.5 years old, and it took me over a year to prepare myself it. 👩🏾🦳
@@SamanthaPollack must admit have thought about what it'd be like to just go all out with the greys ... thing is I'd want to be able to switch between that and colour ... Is that even possible? Have you ever tried semi-permanents or tints? or?
This was my first time coming across your video. Was very inspiring your hair is gorgeous. I embrace my grey about 7 years now. Absolutely love my silver hair and finely learned to care for it . After many years of battling my hair dryness. Because grey hair needs much tender loving care .
You have single-handedly encouraged me to trust the grey process. Thank you for your videos. The world needs to see grey hair aids as many of us who went natural 10-15 years ago are now older and grey and having to figure our hair out all over again.
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I love the variations of grey and black that your hair has! The thickness and health of your hair is just amazing. You really make going grey look absolutely beautiful.
This is the most soothing, satisfying, and visually appealing hair tutorial I have ever seen. Your curls are gorgeous. Whenever I start graying, your hair will be the inspo. 😍
How did you transition? did you simply let the line of color demarcation show or did you wear wigs, or cut your hair? I’m thinking of cutting mine short and let it grow back out.
@@juneyoung8231 thanks…that would be my preference too though I’ve never had short hair. I’ll scroll through her videos to look at the styling options….thanks again!
Like you I went grey early, though not as young as you - I was in my early twenties. My hair texture and thickness is similar to yours, though my grey has a looser curl pattern. I’m completely white/silver in the front, heavily salt/pepper on the sides and crown. I only have my original dark black/brown hair at the nape of my neck. I’ve been natural for 35+ years. My weekly wash day is much more simple: I use Oyin Handmade (20 years now). - 1st wash: Ginger Mint Co-wash; - 2nd wash: 50/50 cocktail of Honey Hemp Shampoo + purple shampoo, let sit ~10 minutes under a simple processing cap then rinse; - Condition with Honey Hemp Conditioner, detangle, finish my shower, then rinse; - Dry hair with microfiber turban until damp; - Detangle and section hair with Oh My Glide; - Toss in 24-30 two-strand twists using Boing! + Shine & Seal Berry Pomade; - Air dry while I finish household tasks, though typically my hair is mostly dry by the time I finish twisting. I use much less than 1 tbsp of each product for my entire head. Similar product/process for a Wash & Go, though it takes much longer to shingle my hair + air dry. Thus, I prefer twists (out). And, for me the result of twist-out vs. wash & go is similar. The twist (out) is easier and lasts until my next wash day. I sleep with a bonnet, shake fluff and go.
Your hair is beautiful, video editing is professional, and you are an inspiration for woman with type 4 hair. Great example of hair love. I have a similar hair type.
I normally do not like having to read because it forces me to sit and watch instead of listen. But let me just say - this was a beautiful piece! You did a great job and I was caught mesmerized. Your hair is stunning, your style is refreshing and I particularly enjoyed the quiet nature of the film. I could hear you combing your hair and that was just enough. I am glad I sat and watched. ❤ Well done!
Hello Loved One! I am a new subscriber after watching this video! I, too, am letting my grey/silver hair shine forth! No more coloring my hair; I am on this journey now. You have beautiful, full and flowing hair!! 😊😌 Thank you for sharing with us! God's love and blessings always! 🙏💞
Purple shampoo is the key. I use it each week with clarifying and low porosity shampoos. Keeps the grey looking pretty with no yellow, and I also use the purple conditioner every other week, and alternate weeks are the deep conditioning process. I go under the dryer, but am interested in the steaming process, so thank you for sharing that. Appreciate the quietness of the video and just showing the verbiage instead of the chatter we hear on others. Beautiful job!!
Love the video, it is so calming! Hair is gorgeous as always and I learned a few things about how to improve the definition of my gray hair. Thank You Samantha!
I stop dying over 15 years now and there’s no turning back. It’s more bronze in color as you describes it, but I always say it’s brown in color. A couple years ago, when it started turning brown it looked like dirt blond, but now it’s brown sometimes poking like bronze as you mentioned. Lol. I like your video, though there are some things I would never do. But to each their own. 🎉❤
Enjoyed your hair routine and admiring how healthy it looks. I'll be honest I liked the versatility of colors you used to use on your hair even the Henna. However, with the amount of hair/thickness you have that can be time consuming/expensive. Your hair always looks beautiful. 😊😊😊 I was also happy to see your 'SMILE ' toward the end; I haven't seem it in awhile. God gave you that beautiful light to 'Shine' no matter the day! Has anyone determined where or not grey hair is high porosity?
High
So all grey hair is high porosity even if you were low porosity before the transition?
Yes, she is right. Grey hair is often considered to be high porosity hair. Grey hair tends to be coarser, drier, and more prone to frizz, which are characteristics commonly associated with high porosity hair. High porosity hair has a more open cuticle layer, allowing it to absorb moisture easily but also lose it quickly, leading to dryness and frizz. Therefore, it is common for grey hair to exhibit these high porosity traits. So you may be low porosity before. But as hair loses its natural pigment and turns grey, it can undergo changes in texture and structure.
Thank you so much because I have been trying to keep my hair moisturized but couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Now I know I was treating it as if it was still low porosity because I didn't know that even though I never colored or chemically treated my hair that it automatically changes with the lost of pigment. So now I will adapt a routine for high porosity hair and shampoo and deep condition every 10-14 days and keep my scalp moisturized every 2-3 days due to sebum reduction. Again thank you 🙏🏾 so very much for your help ❤
