10 years working hard in construction type jobs. Not once have i or come close to dropping anything on my toes or foot. 🤷♂️
What you said about the tape measure is definitely true. I had an apprentice whose mom bought him a tape. However he’s always forget it. He’d borrow mine then leave it where he cut and then I’d have to have him go get it when I needed to measure something. Since he couldn’t remember to bring his own, I was nice and would give him one of my spares for the day. Then he’d always leave it where he cut so if I needed him to measure something he’d never have it with him. He constantly asked for my tape. Needless to say he didn’t last long and no it wasn’t just because of the tape measure. Not keeping a tape on you says something when the damn thing will clip to your belt or pocket. Though I’m a lefty so I remove the clip and keep a pouch in my belt. Id probably do that even if I was right handed because growing up with a carpenter I was used to tool belts
Hey Josh, thanks for the msg. It’s definitely a break down in production when you have to keep handing a tape measure over to someone. We don’t notice it at first, but it ends up making the job longer because those minutes add up. Glad to hear someone else noticed this detail. Thanks for the support!

I haven’t decided what I’m doing next, but I want a plumbers tool box and tools so I can start an apprenticeship at a moments notice if I want. Tekton, and Icon tools seem solid and affordable. It’s meeee Mario.

a good pair of boots was the first thing I invested in. The pre-apprenticeship I went through at the local community college gave us a boot allowance. I also had a decent grant through the college, so combined the two and got custom made steel toes from a local boot company (Franks), ordered on may 26th, still waiting for them lol but they are highly sought after at least locally so lots of orders. I have horribly wide flat feet that are two different sizes so finding off-shelf boots that work well for me is near impossible

I am in Cleveland Ohio and I have to take a test in order to join the plumber apprenticeship. I’m guessing that’s the Plumbers exam.
Hi Sierra, unfortunately I don’t know much about the process in Cleveland Ohio. I do have a video on how to study for tests. But not specifically for the apprenticeship exam.

Hey Kenny Joel from BC again, I got a plumbing helper job yesterday! Gonna be working on condo high rises. I've been up front with the company about my lack of experience on tools and they've agreed to take me on. For tools I need the screw driver, a hard hat, eye wear, reflective vest, steel toes, sharpie and also the channel lock pliers. What I dont get is which size or sizes should I buy? Thanks for your channel man. Really encourages and helps me out as a total green horn
Joel!!! CONGRATS BROOO!! That’s fantastic! And don’t worry about sizes, all that comes in the first week that you are on the job. You will see which one your superiors are using, and when you all go to the plumbing supplier you can pick one up there. But just so you know I started with a 10” long toothed Channel Lock Plier, that opened up 3”. I will be posting a picture for you on the channel of the ones I have in case it can help. I only recently understood the virtue of the thumb method for measuring. Prior to that i always had to make a mark with a pen, but i find the thumb method to be the most accurate now. I find the key is to use your thumb nail to get the most accuracy, and it ends up perfect every time.

I am currently 16 and honestly don't know what I want to do after high school. Even since a trades field trip that I went on a few weeks ago I've been interested in plumbing. I really don't know anything about it but it looks like it's a job that I'd enjoy, plus it's one of the higher paying trades in Canada. I guess my question to anyone who is reading this and has a career in plumbing is, what were you like at 16 years old?
No 8" or 10" adjustable wrench? No method of cutting tube such as a pipe slice?

Do in need to take apprenticeship for plumbing or just the course and find jobs later on ?
You need to do an apprenticeship if you want to become licensed here in Canada. But you can work as a non licensed plumber as well.
Kenny Molotov so if I take plumbing course in George brown without apprenticeship does that mean in the future inorder to get license I will have to do an apprenticeship course separately
Hey Chimey, that’s correct. You can only do the Pre-Apprenticeship course if you are NOT an apprentice. Once you become an apprentice you will be taking Apprenticeship courses. Hope this helps!

Hey Outdoorsman, I don’t really use tool bags, I’m currently using a Dewalt box set. I’m not sure if that helps you.
I’m a apprentice and have 6,000 hours towards my license and all these videos I see on apprentice tools makes me feel like I have way too many tools
I have everything the plumber has and more.
Hammer drill, sawzall, bandsaw, laser level, impact, panel light, b tank soldering rig and map gas soldering torch, brazing torch etc.
My question for you is how long have you been doing plumbing ? I haven’t watched a lot of your videos.

Thanks Cody, Im nearing around 9000 hrs this year, and as you said the video is catered more towards apprentices just starting out. I think my tool box started getting bigger than this around the 4000hr mark. Hope this helps and thanks for the support!
Kenny Molotov 9000 hours ? Shouldn’t you have your journeyman license already?
I don’t know if it’s different where you live but here all you need is 8000 hours to get your journeyman
Hey Cody, here in Ontario Canada you need 9000hrs, I’m actually finishing up school as you and I speak. Should be challenging the national exam soon. Whereabouts do you live?
