Wow - great advice on the humming disposal...just tried the suggestion of turning the plunger upside down and moving the gears around... at first it didnt move and kept trying and after 30 seconds it worked.. I could move the gears and then ... tried the disposal and it worked... Thank you!
I just started watching your vids. They are easy to follow. I have always have an interest in plumbing and am considering going into the business.
We used to use those garbage saddle valves to install the line for ice makers.
This was a cheap and fast way to do it and appliance dealers loved them.
When I worked for the appliance store, I put the saddle valve AFTER the shut off under the sink.
That at least made fixing the damage easier...

I didn't know these things were a bad idea when I was putting them in, but I was smart enough to put them in so it was cheap to fix when the saddle leaked.

Good video Mr.Wakefield.When we first bought this house the water company came over to shut off the water at the curb stop because the existing water main was seized and I've had enough experience to know not to mess with seized valves and replace the seized valves as soon as possible.The water company didn't charge anything to shut the water off at the curb stop,it's after I replaced the seixed water main inside the house and I called the water company to come turn the water back on that I was charged $50.00 for the water company to turn the water back on at the curb stop.God bless you and yours Mr.Wakefield.If I had had the copper pipe press tool that I bought a few months ago back then I would have risked changing the main shut off valve inside the house on-the-fly like I had to sometimes do with the licensed contractors and licensed plumbers in NYC that taught me plumbing and I would have saved myself $50.00.The main shut off here in this house is only 1/2" pipe so it would have been easy to do where as in NYC the contractors and plumbers that taught me and I had to change 2" shut off valves on-the-fly.One of the great advantages of copper pipe press tools is that copper pipe can be repaired even when there is water running through the pipe which is something that soldering pipe does not allow.Note!!!: I do not advise/recommend changing shut off valves on-the-fly,it is something that should only be done with help and as a last resort in emergency cases when the water will not shut off completely.

Plumbing question - I fixed a major leak replaced it with same galvanized fittings . Afterwards there was some low water flow at a few places which I mostly fixed by cleaning out the aereators ( tips ) of faucets / shower heads . But kitchen sink faucet has no tip but still low . What could be problem ? It seems far away from the line I worked on . My repair was further away from main ( meter ) and kitchen much closer to it

Great video. As an IT guy, I love the failsafe and backup systems. and the obvious professionalism. Point of curiosity, though: I didn't quite understand how the gas service and elements can be considered plumbing? I see the relationship, but the trade certifications are different.
Not every state is the same. Some places plumber's are not allowed to work on gas lines...Texas, however, plumber's are allowed.

a good plumber in my book ALSO will educate the homeowner on meter location and how to shut it off before calling a plumber. Roger question . I always try to get homeowners to let us install a cleanout properly when they do not have one. am I wrong to do this?

Roger, I’m tying into my main water line for a sprinkler system. Where I’m tying in its cpvc but I’m using pvc for the sprinklers. Is there a cpvc to pvc glue in adapter that’s 3/4?
I must say as someone who had been a chef/cook for almost 30 years ,the kitchen industry (at least corporate wise) is in shambles STILL IN ALOT OF PLACES so i had to try a different profession which is plumbing (technically the opportunity kinda fell in my lap so to speak) IT IS HARD as a 40 year old man to retain a new profession especially since kitchens are some of the most fast paced work you will ever do going to something like this where you need to stop and think instead of relying on muscle memory anyway my point is ....THANK GOD FOR PPL LIKE THIS BECAUSE IM NOT actually learning or rather being able to do to get things down if that makes sense( for me screwing up or doing things is how i learn ,just telling me wont always compute)like i said being able to watch a video and see VISUALLY what things look like and do and such actually help ALOT THANK YOU SIR

if the horizontal pipes are to be sloped at a slight angle, then wouldn't the vertical connecting pipes be also a little slanted? what is the solution to install vertical pipes perpendicular to the ground and yet the connecting horizontal pipes be sloped?
My daughter dropped a super bouncy ball down the sink one day and it kept stopping up. When I went to remove the p trap i broke the pipe coming out of the sink trying to loosen the pvc tightener.. why do they glue these??

Mr. Wakefield, I have an unusual question. Please understand I have little know how in this field, but my partner works as a maintenance guy off and on for people, so he would understand better than I.

A friend has a camper that has no sewage tank and it was fitted to be hooked up to a regular sewage line. They cut the line so the camper could be moved. Now we have a cut at a bend in the line. How could one hook a hose into the drain and use the hose as intended?

You spoke of flushing your water heater and draining the water heater I've been they're I've been told not to do this and not to do it unless absolutely necessary some people say yes some people say no what is the official ruling on this and what is your opinion about it?

The Water Descale has no use by just using AC or Waves. For descaling you need
ion exchanger. I would be glad if you can prove me wrong.

Size doesn’t change pressure it changes volume. To many fixtures on a line will effect the pressure with them all on. What all is in the out house?
@@RogerWakefield have hot water tank one bath sink and kitchen sink one outside facet. Feeding off a football field of line to two buildings one for water pet house tapped into 1/2 pvc too my project after tank turns into 1/2cpvc too inside cold in same pipe line as it comes in.

People make lots of mistakes with venting such as not taking cleaning them or not putting them in correctly.
What’s the name of the gadget you can put on the outside piping as a strainer. This pipe connects to your bathroom sink (in case your wedding ring falls into sink and goes down the pipe).

It’s a fitting that goes outside the building with a strainer. This strainer can be pulled out and pushed back in. This way you can take out anything that was washed down the sink by mistake.

-Need to call the gas company and have them come out and slap a fresh coat of paint on that ugly meter. They may get around to it after about a year.
-Tip: Never flush anything (not man-made) down the toilet bigger than one square of toilet paper. (I'm talking to you, Charmin Ultra users.) That's what that bidet is for.
Tip: Never throw gobs of vegetable peelings, etc., in the garbage disposal (like my mother was famous for doing). That's not a chipper - it was designed to handle small bits only.
...And while we're at it - never throw chicken parts, etc., in the household kitchen trash can. Instead, freeze them in a gallon ziplock bag, and put them out for the regular garbage pickup the night or morning before the garbage run. Doing so will eliminate flies from your property.
-Tip: Forget the tank water heaters, and go with multiple point-of-use electric tankless heaters connected with pex-A expansion (F1960/Propex/Uponor) fittings. Don't use pex-B and cinch fittings or anything else - only pex-A. If you're rich, none of this matters, because you don't care. But if you're poor (like me), it matters. Dealing with tankless is less troublesome and less expensive than dealing with the (relatively cheap) tank heater that will start leaking. If you have a high-end rig (such as the one shown in this vid), it doesn't matter as much. It's like a high-end Trane HVAC system - you've already paid for the maintenance up front.
-Tip: Have a water meter wrench HANDY, and know how to use it. It doesn't do you any good when a water leak is flooding your property and you've misplaced it.
