Real nice machine. These have Differential steering. As you discribed a brake band stops one track and the power then goes to the other track that is still turning. Those Chrysler flatheads are actually a good motor. Parts are still available at most auto parts stores. Looks like alot of fun!!!
I have a question, I was watching one of your old videos where you were tearing down a seized Honda 3 wheeler engine, 250 I think. Anyways I have a 84 trx200 and the jug looks identical to my son’s 82 Xr 200, I cannot find a new jug for his bike but I can for the trx was wondering if you knew if they interchanged.
Hey man, I don't know if these machines are around but you should check out the Ski Doo Elite 1500, it's supposedly a SxS snowmobile lol. Looks so goofy with the dual tracks
Hey I just bought a 07 mxz 440x with a 800 in it. Do you know how to identify these engines? I’d like to know what it is for future maintenance. Guy I bought it off didn’t know.
You're machine looks very similar to the international Rescue Thunderbird's Recovery Vehicle 1 from the 1970's episode Pit of Peril. Two of these machines Pulled up and out of a deep sink hole a 500 ton Walking killing machine from the us army failed test.
@@PowerModzOfficial just watched but now do you recommend that year and model? If not I’m thinking about getting a Yamaha nytro if the 06 mxz renegade 800ho isn’t very reliable
@@mrtundranutz1 oki see, ya that's sad for sure....lots of thinking ahead with old machinery. My old Clark skidder had no brakes...had to use the blade to stop it. This j5 will be getting a blade for sure too.
@@PowerModzOfficial I'm glad to know your new workshop is ready, I can't wait to see this. I take a lot of inspiration from you and powermodz, it sounds groupie but you help people a lot to make their own modification, on my side with chanel tazmonster I work the best I can to help people in the same way, but in French . I hope one day we may be able to meet, but I will have to improve my English.
Wow, what a machine. I should have guessed it was made by Bombardier! That Chrysler engine, is it a V8? it sounds good, more like an aircraft engine. Cant wait to see some vids of it working. Paint it Kawasaki green. Cheers
I have a better design to couple the machine to the trailer. Edit: I forgot to mention. It didn't sound like a Chrysler slant six, nor did it sound like a ford inline that I have seen in these. Im going to your other channel and hopefully you have a view of the engine compartment as I am curious! lol
terrible approach and departure angles. that's unfortunate. Expanded sheet metal for the front would be good to prevent brush and branches from impaling you from the front whenever jump romping around in the woods :D Don't pull a 4+ wheeled equipment with a tracked equipment as tracks will eventually flip the wheeled equipment on a tight turn or tight reverse. Looks like a hobbled together hydraulic steering system. Looks very like it would be easy to break on a twist /watch?v=EObOUb3g86I /watch?v=BciSdXIKCRo Check these videos out for a more hardier design
I agree, the front plow mount im cutting off tomorrow, we will weld a new blade mount in the proper spot...it does need a blade for our bush. Agreed on the mesh as well. Ya the hydraulic system is pretty lame - going to see if I can attach a pump to the main engine.
@@PowerModzOfficial hydraulic steering isn't really necessary unless if you're needing really tight turns between trees. You don't really need a hydraulic steering at all if the roads you're taking to pull things are decently straight or wide enough. Just put the chains as turning radius limiters instead, it'll pull like any other trailer
Definitely a powermodz unit. Love it! Man the young lad has really shot up.
Oh bud you wanna believe it.
Well that looks like the most fun you can have with your clothes on!!

Nice rig! My mushing club uses a 1980’s DMC, delorean manufacturing company, thiokol imp 1450 to groom the trails
7:26 so happy, 2 hats on and everything 😂
lol, I was waiting for that
The J5! Can't wait to see more videos of that tank working away, i'll definitely be tuning in as usual
That’s actually pretty sick man! Cool find!
I see this and just immediately start thinking of ways to build a grooming skid to be towed behind it. lol
Ty for the info in the video info 👍
One of those is on my motorized bucket list
Also, you need to gas that old plow harness off the front. Justs hangs you up it seems. Cool machine!
Yup - its gone now!
A short custom welded 2 wide ski sled behind it to drop the winched in log ends on and it'll be a cool winter skidder!
kool little tank well built
Uh, yes please. That is an awesome machine!
Very cool love to see more footage of that beast
More coming on my other channel!
that thing is awesome!
I know what I want for Christmas now!
That thing is sick.
very cool
We own a j 5 and a j 3. Awesome machines. Yours appears to be in a little better shape, our winch runs off of the crank shaft.
Id like that winch!
Nice new tank. Think you get some some more hp with a powermodz sticker and a jet engine.
it's nice, not too loud !
holy cows that looks cool
Hi ! Is there any power on the trailer ? Or just free tracks follow ?

Great vid bud
If it was easier to get into I would say that's a great vehicle for my dad to go Morel Mushroom hunting. He doesn't get around as well as he once did
That thing is so cool. Is it air cooled or water cooled it has a huge fan
Cool toy
J- 5 it’s in the 50 because it’s front and 3 speed transmission. I’ll be drive them from a kid and still to this day .
Paint it bombi yellow. Awesome machine, also on my want list!
Good choice!
Love these videos but he doesn't make enough of them.
All my vids like that will be on my rolling up my sleeves channel =- everyone got mad at me for making non snowmobile videos on powermodz
The break bands "some sorta friction material" I think that's asbestos. Great vid bud, keep up the good work.
The original probably yes.
@@PowerModzOfficial That's a nice lookin rig you got there, with the trailer. I could see that being way handy around our neck of the woods as well.
Great now I want one 💯👍🤣🤣🤣
That is pretty badass.
Totally
I can understand you "always wanting" one of those. Sweet old machine.
You got that right!

You need to go up to the ice roads with the tank
im going to!
Not sure if the "tank" and or the trailer have individual brakes like a tractor. If so, when turning hold the inside break on the tank and or trailer!
just the tank does...that's why I want the ram steering.
That thing could use a V8!! Maybe 2jz? Chevy LS small block? Green? Great vids too!!
That would be cool!
I had one of those
I’m thinking about getting a 06 mxz 800ho renegade now for 2300$, should I buy it? What’s some things I need to look out for
Check my other how to buy a snowmobile video.

If you stopped on a steep hill with the engine running and the transmission in neutral will it roll down hill ?
Yes

I like that green idea
Doesn't sound like a slant 6, looks like a tight fit for one anyway.
Ya it's not a slant 6 its a flat head 6
You got a bad u joint
Sherp been kinda quiet..
what happened to the Clark skidder?
Sold it, not enough work to justify the expense to run it.
@@PowerModzOfficial ahhh thought so almost bought it off a guy in Massachusetts a few years ago.

No I sold that a couple years ago - but still have footage of it.

Losin snow already?
Oh ya only about 1 foot left in the bush
might even move the lever for rear steer seems in a bit of a od spot you looked like you was reaching for it and not comfortable
Yes for sure, previous owner put it there for some reason. I might try to put the hydraulic pump on the engine to eliminate the Honda as well
Id let ya take me out for dinner in that!

wheres all the vids?

Not a tank. Do you call a snowmobile a tank ?.
Did you call a J5 a snowmobile?

I would get rid of that flat head Chrysler and go with a 300 ford a way better engine
