I come back to this video again and again because I just love hearing an old 2 stroke roar to life in cold weather. Love the smell o' 2 stroke in the morn.
Little trick to keeping those primers working, at the end of season pull off fuel line and prime the primer with 2 stroke oil and they will work for a long time.

Reminds me of my 1974 Arctic cat 440! Work on it for 4hrs to ride it for 2!!! Lol. That was years ago. Now I ride a not so old Polaris that runs like a champ. As reliable as a hammer

@@PowerModzOfficial lol. The elans we had. No cover no carb filters. My uncle has plugs for the carbs si snow would not get into the carbs. He also used it as a choke. Terri pulls then remove plug. Three on cold days.

NGK ab-7 I believe right. I got to boxes of 10 on my shelf and I believe their for my '70 olympique. Always kept a box in back under seat. Rest of tools I kept in a box in the ski-boose

Sounds about right eh.
Sweet recitation. Obviously you are a patriot who understands the fabric of our heritage. Thank you for that.
Thanks Louis, I watch your old vids often. You and digit 9 have the best snowmobile how to vids.

Looking to get over a foot here in NWO.
Its nice to see im not the only one who makes videos about vintage sleds.
Its nice to see those old machine still have life in them
I shed a tear when I seen that VK not covered for the summer.
Ya I know - to be honest it seemed like I just parked it in the spring and then al of a sudden it was winter.... new building coming this summer.
I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only dad that makes that "I'm 16 again" face when I get the Elan going!!!! Enjoy the snow
You show'em Louie, exercise is good for the heart, snowdog.
Ethanol gas really does suck
The trick is to pump the primer while you pressurize the tank so it gets some fresh fuel as well!
I always pumped 2 stroke oil into the primer in the spring. Its a bit of a hassle, but they always worked again in the winter.

You should drain your carbs and fuel tank and plug your exhaust and air box to keep rodents out in the spring when you summarize your machines.
Should be ok if they are started every month or so, but storing anywhere but outside is best
I remember doing the spray bottle trick way back in the 70s
Our minds think alike - snow is finally here and it’s good and cold - time to get sleds going. Cheers
Finally!

She's been cold out, that's for sure. Thought you were going to drive one of them around though
Thinks that’s why my shoulder is so screwed. Pull that cord!
For next year when u park your sleds: we have been putting mouse repellent around our sleds and boats to stop mice from getting in there.
