The Turkish Elcan For Cheap

- The 3E AVCI is a full feature Elcan analog that is produced for the Turkish military.
However 3E seems pretty interested in selling to the US market.

I want them to do a plx prism so bad
calling their bluff and breaking the last optic was a pretty baller move
I had a more spicy edit where I had screenshots of their email.

@@BrassFacts it had to be done plus side the cad filea for the gen 2 do be looking pretty smooth now and with the addition of the planned mount changes should be a solid optic finally
If 3E could figure out the problems with this and sell it for anywhere close to half the price of an actual elcan, I'd totally be on board to get one.
The best part about the elcan is that it looks cool, this looks like a nerf optic
yeah but, nerf or nothing.
I honestly liike the way it looks.
Out of all the Elcan style optic videos out there, this is easily one of them.
By far one of them!!
It's almost certainly one of the optics of all time.
Man imagine if PA did a PLX prism in this style.
No thanks
Just a plain plx prism would be nice.

One day.
There was the PSU NPZ back in the day, after the initial batch that InrangeTV got their hands on they weren't bad but those haven't been a thing for years now.
3E: "Absolutely impossible!"

It’s a step in a direction :)

My favorite thing lately is optics manufacturers calling reviews liars when their products don't live up to their marketing. There seems to be a lot of that lately
Promethean
"nononno you didnt use it right!" " see its not designed to be dropped." please test again.
Focus Tripp doing work
I have seen one case...you can't call one instance of that, "a lot" and even if you see two, that isn't a lot. Most optic manufacturers don't say shit.
@@zakkbrown9522 1: The Promethean is not Turkish made. 2: The review was not called out for its negativity towards the product. It was called out due to false allegations the reviewer made about the company. Check your facts before spreading misinformation.
Primary arms needs to quit messing around and make their own for 8-900 with a nice acss reticle. Maybe I'm too wishful there, but I can imagine a world where it happens
I'm still waiting for a 4x prism from PA.....i got a 5x though because, well, its PA.
A GLx 4x for ~$500 first, then Elcan from Japan for $1200.
Proud owner of a waffle topper from the last sale, thanks for the heads up.
I had no idea the military used a 9 layer clothing thing, it's now a goal of mine to catch em all so when someone is waiting for me to get dressed to go anywhere I can slowly layer up while breathing heavily and saying one sec and almost done. and of course support class acts and ace Ventura extras
Came for cheap Elcan, stayed for the Goodest dog
I would say that this optic is a no go at this point, thank you for warning us ahead of time, but a gen 2 may be interesting, though given the reputation of Turkish knockoffs, i wont be holding my breath
Really cool video! Thanks for doing something that isn’t just a re-hash of every other channel. Keep it up!
Turcan will hopefully improve by gen 2
Waiting for IRL patches on their products
Skip gen 2 or even gen 3 of the 'turd-can' if they ever made it to the US market.
Dude I love watching your videos while playing games or eating. Thank you so much for the awesome content!
I wonder if this could be the reason why Turkish commandos chose ASELSAN A940 instead of 3E AVCI. It would be great to review the A940 on top of this, but I don't know if Aselsan sells it to the civilian market. 🤔
That was excactly what I thought as well. I always wondered why they ditched AVCI and selected A940 instead. I would like to see a comparison video too.
Amazing that no design like the Elcan has been made in 20 years until now
Russia does russian things. They had the NPZ PSU and PO104. I quite like the PSU, holds zero and all, but not gonna deny it has faults.
@@Welhung the faults with the PSU were more of a quality and electronics thing, otherwise I found myself using it more than a LPVO for its benefits.
Holographics haven’t really changed at all.
If you have astigmatism or any eye problem like that LPVO and prismatic are you best option.@@Welhung
@@Welhung my main is actually a acog/dot combo but okay. Thanks.
Cause the acog is better and cheaper. Elcan does look cool though 😎
I'm excited to see what they come up with next! great video love seeing dogo at the end.
Thanks for doing a video on this. Been extremely curious about it since I heard about this optic, and its a damn shame there are some critical issues. I have 2 elcans and would love another similar optic for a good bit cheaper.
I found a TFB-TV post from 2017 stating this optic was going to be issued to the Turkish Army for the MPT-76 rifle. So they have had plenty of time to ensure that the scope isn’t garbage.
It failed the tender trials and wasn't even short lister as a competitor for standard issue. Which is why they made it available to civilian market. The Aselsan A390 was the winner of the tender and is not available for civilian market
Sorry A940
I've been waiting on a video to drop about this thing
This is the best gear channel on RUclips by far please keep bringing us wierd gear to watch you review even if it's just to remind us why we don't buy wierd gear
Wasn't expecting to hear tank. Awesome as always Brock.
I love it when a company says, "You're wrong, that never happened."
The real deal breaker is the company basically yelling "no, you!" When you showed them the issues. Imagine being a customer and having a genuine issue without having the benefit of a platform and an audience, you would just be out a grand because they have a shitty attitude.
Diggin that jazz bebop. Nice play.
Turkey is like the IRL of a "Live Service Model": gotta wait for the 1.2 patch for it to work right.
Never seen or even heard of an optic that makes things look like they're further away. Now that's some cutting edge technology!!
TANK! My alarm clock sound, bebop music is amazing.
"Bebop music is amazing"
That's jazz, baby.
@@James_Bee All jazz? No.
Well, that's a good sign their listening to feedback. Would love to see something like this come to market. I can get past the 1x and clarity issues. IMO, the clarity doesn't seem to be that big of an issue, same with the 1x. But the POI shift and the breaking of plastic parts from dropping, is a big turn off. Hopefully they'll get that sorted out. the Doctors Cut only is unfortunate, but can be dealt with. would still prefer a RMR cut.
Hey editing Brock. If you want to replace that piece of plastic a bicycle seat post quick release will probably come a similar piece of plastic
editing brock acknowledges and says thanks, but IRL brock already sent it back for a refund.
This is a good one. Thank you.
Woohoo! Was waiting from the other day.
After watching the review, oof. Looks like sticking to Primary Arms 5x/HS509T is the way to go for looking at being poor and wanting magnification and 1x in the "same" package.
In regards to the broken QD, I recommend just swapping for a standard nut and bolt and then find a way to attach the original clamping pieces that act as the picatinny interface surfaces to that nut and bolt.
Super good video- thanks
New watcher of your videos. I came for the good info, but i stayed for the Cowboy Bebop. Well done sir!
Thank you
went on a internet spiral trying to find out what this was from your mdr video. Couldn’t find it for sale, makes sense you had to import them.
Great Info, Thanks.
Awesome review/overview of this product. Man, I really wish 3e (or some other competitor) addresses these issues!
I believe they are with a gen 2.
I was going to skip the venture surplus ad read but noticed I was missing nova footage and decided against it because doge. Well played.
Love the Cowboy Beebop music at the end.
I love my elcan 1-4.
If they can make a cheaper one, i'll be happy.
One of those would cost me 3k €. O.o
Nothing says confidence in a brand like reporting multiple issues/breakages and being told "nuh uh" by the manufacturer.
0:22 😏
Everyone wants an Elcan until they get one….
I have a Vortex Viper PST 1-6x and I think it actually is closer to 0.8ish - 6x. However I think its a pretty cool feature for indoors. As Bob Ross would say, “its a happy little accident”
With the diopter setting my eyes need for LPVOs, I also get like 0.9x. Sickening outdoors
Figuring out the zero adjustment on this system is going to be difficult. If they nail that and fix the other issues it will be a very interesting optic. They do that and have a price in the middle LPVO cost range and they will have my attention. But better to take some time to get it right and then fire up the old hype train.
At least all the problems are in the mount and not the optic itself so it should be easier for them to fix. However I’d appreciate it if you’d also do a little more durability testing on the optic to see if the switch from 1x to 4x is also a weak point down the line as that seems to be the next logical failure point
How do you get around the cowboy bebop copyright at 12:45. Do you just have to play it super soft?
Yes needs an RMR mount, an ACSS reticle, and cost around $1k.
You should really check out the fixed 4x elcan specter. Way cheaper than the 1-4, and at least in Canada its also way cheaper than most acogs. Incredibly awesome and slept on optic. I switched to it from a TA11 Acog and havent looked back
As far as I can tell, it’s no longer in production.
Doesn’t matter much though, it is *significantly* less durable than the ACOG, so yeah it’s basically like buying what is essentially a fake ACOG and you’re trading off durability to save $40 😂
@rifleshooterchannel208 you're telling me that an elcan specter, which is the elcan specter DR minus the 1x, is significantly less durable than an acog? I find that extremely hard to believe.
@@canadianpatriot2498 I’m saying the DR’s 1x capability is worth taking the reduction in durability but yes they are both significantly less durable than the ACOG by virtue of their exposed adjustments and fragile-as-glass potmetal mounting levers.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 has that been an issue? Fragile is the last thing people would use to describe elcans. They've been proven to be equally bombproof as acogs
@@canadianpatriot2498 There is no mounting system on the market more fragile than ARMS mounts.
Yes it’s a huge issue. Just read reports of things using ARMS mounts just falling off the gun because the little 1/100th of an inch thick wafer of sheet metal they use for “mounting tension” wore out.
Guns, guns, and a dash of existential questioning of existence - without commentary on all the other nonsense.

@@Sig_P229 they were basically selling some Chinese optic in the first place lmao.
"Made in Hong Kong" is a hilarious misnomer, because Hong Kong does not have industry relative to mainland China. It's a financial hub.
This is exactly it.
Brassfacts Friday 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I might consider one of these if they fixed the mount and stabilized the POA shift problem. I don't even mind the underpowered 1x.
I wouldn't consider a purchase even with the improvements if it showed up on US shelves with a price tag anywhere in the same zip code as an Elcan. Because if I'm honest, I wouldn't consider an Elcan at Elcan prices.
When you specially imported these at $1400US, you likely had additional agent and customs fees within that cost. Just curious, but what was the price at the source?
NPZ makes a 1-4 and a 1.5-6 Russian Elcan knockoff for under 600 bucks, and they work pretty damn well
I looked into that one earlier in the year the reviews were pretty mixed. Seems like quality control across them is hit or miss.
@@biggboysouthjust buy 4 bro.
Dang... It's hard for the poors to get a good optic out here.
getting btfo'd
Its never been easier and cheaper actually. Even on the low end like the SLx series are light years better than budget optics 2 decades ago. Actually I don't think you could buy a decent sight for under 1-2K 20 years ago.
Love the cowboy bebop drop!
You should check out the A940 scope, the military variant Turkish Elcan made by Aselsan
I looked at it...could be worth testing. Funny stuff they sell like that knockoff Eotech called 'Holobright' with little information and bubble buttons on the back while the magnifier is behind it. There is no chance that's holographic.
Actually AVCI is also being made fro Turkish military. Kinda funny how bad is this.
I suspect that this Aselan has the same problems as AVCI.
If you're going for cheap, trying to include a quick release mount is often a red flag, you can't take shortcuts with that. Looks like the missed the mark for relatively no that much, unfortunately, too much for a rifle optic.
Well, it's a pretty good first attempt, I guess. Hopefully they keep working on it, still seems promising.
Anyone else notice the few degrees of cant of the big horizontal part of the reticle? At first I questioned if I was really seeing it, but then he showed the Elcan that looked right.

If you can, get the 1.5-6x variant and maybe 1.5x will be 1x.
I grabbed the data sheet and only 500 hours of battery life of a 2032 is weak but if it doesn't make it through the battery life it may be sufficient. I hope they can fix their mostly external issues. I'd be interested in one in that case in central europe.
3D print will likely crush or creep in this use, i would recommend using aluminum as a shim.
I saw the same problem with the Burris LPVO 1X, the 1x setting was noticeably NOT a true 1x, it was like .5x as the car I was looking at was larger to the naked eye than the 1x setting by a good bit.
I actually prefer variable optics that do that because it kinda gives you more fov than the naked eye
My guy drivin that forester
Nova is a very good dog.
LPVO > Aimpoint/EOTech & magnifier > Elcan > ACOG & RMR
You got that backwards. Its a common mistake to use < and > incorrectly.
The easiest way to remember is that < looks like a crocogater and its trying to eat the bigger value. Example: 1 < 4 or 10 > 5
I wonder if a version of the Elcan @ 2x-6x power with a piggy back dot position would be good. I feed like if I'm using a top dot, I don't reeeeealy need a 1x.
They should just ditch the quick detach mount and change for a more rigid one.
Honest question: in what situation you would need to QD a prism? Those optics are almost bomb proof, if you crack one you probably have multiple fractured bones and is out of combat.
If your prism completely lost zero because of the external adjustments falling, can’t you flip up the iron sights and use them with the 1x (I know from personal experience that they won’t work with 3x and 4x, don’t have a 1x)?
I said the same thing for recent laser aiming module review.
QD is nice, but it should only be done if the price can afford a really high end QD

Is it possible to make an optic with this mechanism but FFP instead of SFP?
