Nice solution to the weird ELRS implementation. One concern I have with this solution is what happens if have control link, but loose telemetry, even for brief period? Would a "disArm" be sent over the control link from the transmitter? Thinking if is possible to setting up a redundant logical channel and mixing in flight controller to avoid the radio transmitter and continuous radio link dependency. Could include a countdown timer, to disarm if radio signal lost for an extended period. My concern is a brief lost of telemetry could result in a disarm.
It's a good question, but I think it's ok. telemetry seems to hold the last value it received, so if it lost link while armed, it will stay ARMed. Thanks for watching!
I found your video on the ardupilot forum. I'm using an F405wing with ELRS - I've got Yaapu loaded on my TX16S and the ELRS telemetry is functioning. However the pesky "ARMED" message is overlaid on the artificial horizon, and it will not go away. I was hoping these steps may solve my problem, but when I try and set up a logical switch "ARM" is not available to select. Everything is powered on and connected - any idea what may be going on?
You need a telemetry value of "ARMED" not a logical switch. I found it doesn't always show up right away. You might need to leave "discover sensors" running for a while. Hope this helps.
I have it installed but keep loosing my main screen (the 1 you have before installing yaapu) it does go to the screen but it's blank .before I keep going I'm going to take time today and reinstall everything as I play with and add stuff to the controller it may have something that's conflicting. Thank you for sharing the video .
Let me summarise, elrs is not intended to work with ardupilot without hacks and tricks. Let it control Betaflight and Inav as it was designed initially.
@@myway6335 Not exactly. ExpressLRS prioritizes the RC link, so you can lose telemetry but still have a valid RC link. For more - maybe ask on the ExpressLRS discord.
Real nice. Thank you for sharing the unique arming setup
Thanks for the feedback. Let me know how it goes.

@@timtheplaneman I let it search for about 5 minutes, then the “ARMED” message finally showed up. Thanks!
never had an issue with elrs and ardupilot, not sure what all this mess is about . sounds like user error with your radio
So if you arm using the Mission Planner, how do you get Channel 5 to switch to "armed"?

Lots of help online. It does work, but there are lots of gotchas. Keep going!
Hello, could you help me show video to guide to use the elrs telemetry to t16s? Many thanks
Have you checked out @painless360? He has some great videos about this.
@@timtheplaneman I got it, thank you so much! This worked right now!

Yeah I don't agree, I use ExpressLRS with ArduPilot and it works great. Of course you do it your way! ;-)
@@timtheplaneman Correct me if I wrong, rc link will work until telemetry works? So, loosing a telemetry is an equivalent of RC failsafe.
