Me 16 years ago, not knowing a word of Norwegian. * first notes on accordion * "WTF is this music" * music goes on * "OMG I LOVE THIS" It never stopped
Not to be an asshole, but the instrument is actually not an accordion, but a pump organ. A very cool instrument! See any of KO's performances, and you'll see Helge Risa playing it in the background, often wearing a gas mask. Super fricking cool.
@@MegaLol232 You're right. I actually did see them live and it was indeed a pump organ. Amazing instrument and amazing band. I don't know why I wrote accordion a year ago 😆
I remember when I was 9 years old, I found the CD with this song on it in our house and I played it non-stop. I even brougth the CD with me to school to play it to my teacher.. uhm yeah I was a strange kid, but I guess I was a kid with good music taste, too :D
English translation of the lyrics: One must be a man to wear my hat One must be cold-hearted to obtain my power One must be a size 42 to wear my shoes But he has to have his own pistol
Because you know what's stated in the will And you know what's stated in the will That the one who takes care of my Constanze Gets my hat, gets my shoes, gets my extravaganza
Take control over the continent
And I ask to be well perfumed I want to smell good when I finally go down And I have sent out invitations myself And I have a priest, a bell-ringer, it's total corruption
But all of this is stated in the will All of this is stated in the will And the one who takes care of my Constanze Gets my hat, gets my shoes, gets my extravaganza
Take control over the continent
I see it before me, crawling towards me See it before me, crawling towards me
Oh, my sister, oh, my sister, now I know who's the rat Oh, my sister, oh, my sister, I heard everything you said by my coffin Oh, Father Martin, oh, Father Martin, this is beginning to reek of gasoline Oh, my Constanze, my Constanze, take my hat, take my shoes, take my extravaganza
Take control over the continent Storyline : The head of a great and powerful Mafia family, who goes by the name of "Mr. Kaizer", fakes his own death to find out who has betrayed the family. At his funeral, he discovers that it was his sister, and he asks Father Martin, his "priest", to burn her house down with gasoline. He's not willing to part with his control on the entire continent. With ANYONE.
I saw this band live at Roskilde 2003. I still come back to listen to Kaizers Orchestra, great band. This band also teached me who created the Norwegian flag ;) Hälsningar från Sverige
Saw them in Trondheim this summer, on my last day in Norway after 2 months hiking. It was magic. I can sing all the songs, but I have, indeed, no idea what it's about :)
Såg just Skavlan.
Punk rock fan from the states here. I just got turned on to these guys and I really love this album. I was doing geologic research in Svalbard this summer and the one Norwegian geologist suggested I give these guys a listen. Love it. Now what the hell is he saying?
9 years later, but hey. The album is about crime, the mafia, etc. This specific track is the boss faking his own death to discover who is trying to kill him (his sister). He starts by explaining what is expected of someone taking over after him, and how he wants to be buried, etc. And at the end he explains how he hears his sister confess next to his casket. Then he says (to a "father martin") that it's starting to smell like gasoline (implying he's going to burn her alive or something).
Hehe, it's all good as long as one can enjoy good music right :) And btw, they're singing in Norwegian in a very hard to understand dialect, even for other norwegians. The dialect is called "Jærsk".

That very interesting and I'm totally up for other options. But still, Kaizers Orchestra have made a big deal of not explaining their songs (that's why Våre Demoner is so special, they will then explain the histories) so I find it unlikely that you got that from the band themself. Maybe you got it from just another fan, but I don't know. For all I know, it could be as you say :) Thanks for helping me mapping the Kaizers Universe ;)

Was the film The Trip? Because I just came here after watching it. Love this song!
Tom Waits (who inspired the band alot) said almost the exact same thing when they sent him a cd.

Sure, this song about love. :)

I was on a concert with them for about two weeks ago, stood at the front row and having the time of my life
Ved siden av en superkul låt, må dette være den beste musikkvideoen som er produsert . Wooooow. Her har en eller annen KONTROLL PÅ KLIPP💙
