Love the timeless style of my E83 X3 but I’m considering this mod. Right now I have a BT receiver in the cig lighter and it works great but I hate having a phone holder on the dash. Can’t believe you snatched this gem for $500

I got the exact same radio you did on my 05 e83. Thank you for the link to the great product and helping me install it! The only problem I had was my package came with no screws at all and their customer service basically told me that because it's not shown in any pictures that it's not included in the kit. Other than that great experience with this product! I'll figure it out 🤷♂️

The memory card clip is a cable that connects to the camera cables and allows to record while driving as a DVR. That part of the cable can be left inside the glove compartment

I think this adapter is for a sim card that allows you to have wifi in your car using cellular data

Go for it yourself! You got this! Yes, the AUX and bluetooth both work
1080p means the image has 1920 across by 1080 down pixels which is a lot less than the 1024x600 resolution you said in the video.

Hey man. I've had my x3 for a few years and finally decided to do this upgrade. This video looks like it will be super helpful. Was there a spot to plug in the microphone? my car has an aftermarking head unit that has a microphone on the visor for talking on the phone.
Did it work with the volume buttons/ arrow skip buttons on the steering wheel? Great video! Looking to do an install as well

For some reason I have the radio antenna plugged into new radio but I can’t get the aux feature to pop up on old head unit or use volume toggle on the radio or on the steering wheel. Any advice? Please help
It’s also not showing the aux mode on the old radio. It used to work on a pre ious head unit I got but the mode isn’t popping up for this one

@@hockeyrocks177 yes! i asked the seller for the manufacturer's code of the device and choose the car model. after doing this i could set the steering wheel settings

Canbus decoders are generic. Every one will need to be configured for your specific vehicle before it will work properly.

The side where you fed the wires is blocked off in my x3 😢 not sure if this is because there is an airbag fitted? Couldnt see any easy way around it but im a massive novice when it comes to playing around with fitting stuff in cars 😂

Actually I need your little help if you can help me and solve the mystery please???? ok so i have BMW X3 2004, i have installed the Android unit and its works perfectly fine. but what i wanna do now is, i wanna keep the original BMW radio in working mode same time( as its stopped working cos antenna cable not connected but power is still there. (i am planning to get new cable and connect the main Antenna line connect with this like T Connector) do i need to change any other cable to keep both running same time?? or the Original radio will start and work with sound once i connect the Antenna ??? please advise??? Now that you've had the unit installed for a while, do you recommend it? I've seen mixed reviews online. Does it work with your steering controls? Don't want to waste money and time on an install if its not much of a step up from just having my tablet mounted to the vents right now
I would still recommend it! The steering wheel controls work great, and the added functionality is night and day.
Can you run this through an aftermarket kenwood x303 stereo??? I would also like to try to run satellite service through it.
Thinking about this for my 2007. The factory radio is not working. Does the Seicane depend on the factory radio working?
I have a question with the original Bluetooth system in the car. If I install this new touchscreen display can I use both factory Bluetooth and factory microphone or does it use the factory microphone.
I tried to install the unit and at the end factory deck displayed “disabled” even though android head unit has light but doesn’t tune on, what do you think is wrong?? Appreciate any help here 😊

Thank you so much for this video. I tackled my project and made it to the finish line - almost! Just two things - one, Seicane conveniently failed to send the screws to secure the unit to the base (I have emailed them about it) - do you happen to know the size and type of screw that is needed? I went to Lowe's and bought some that I thought would work...go figure, they didn't. And two, do you have any hints about getting the unit to sit flush in the base? ie, the left side doesn't sit flush and it seems the power cord hinders it and I can't figure out how to get it tight. I asked Seicane in the email also but they aren't the most helpful of folks, nor timely to respond. Any advice or hints are greatly appreciated! If it weren't for this video, I would have probably opened the box and let it sit lol
I'm glad the video was helpful! Sorry to hear about the screws. Without a photo, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by sitting flush with the base. I would recommend making sure all wires are routed correctly to make sure they aren't interfering.

Yes! You may also play music through bluetooth instead of CarPlay

JD: Another question - Did you have to deal with the BMW X3 AUX cable from the factory? I saw other (older) videos where they had to tie into the factory AUX cable but not in yours. My kit did not have an AUX male to male so maybe it’s superfluous, but still a good question. Thanks. Bob
Hey Bob. We did not have to deal with a factory AUX cable. Have you installed the unit and tested it out?
@@JDCarsChannel I did the install without find any AUX cable included in the kit, and it seems to work ok, albeit I have a few bugs I’ll attribute to not installing the rear camera yet. The screen switches to what appears to be backup mode and looking for the rear camera. Maybe that will go away once I hook up rear camera. The factory radio doesn’t have volume so I can’t use that radio or CD player. No biggie. I’m waiting on a 90 degree antenna adapter ( from my seller on EBay) to plug in the supplied antenna cable to the old factory radio. That will allow me to use the new radio interface. All in all not bad.
Love the video and install it in my 2010 x3. Only problem is getting the carplay to work. I can get the link to download on the unit...any advise.

I think the third antenna is for GPS. if you want to have gps on the car you should put gps card on it.👍

JD: love the video and liking the unit so far. The ease of putting it in was smooth for the most part. One big question: @ minute 15:50 you point out the antenna hookup in the rear of the seicane unit and even showed the antenna adaptor just before that. Then you video cuts to the head unit inside the clam shell. My fm antenna supplied looks exactly the same as yours BUT the male head extends too far back out the rear to allow the clam shell to close and then install your five screws. I looked at it 3 times thinking I could bend it a little to squeeze it in, but it’s not physically possible. I’m looking for a 90 degree adapter to plug in the rear and pull from there. How did yours fit? If it’s the same cable as mine I’m Impressed you squeezed it in without an aid of some kind. The GPS plug in was engineered just right. This fm adapter is odd. Your input is appreciated.

What cable/wire controls the car speakers? Like what do u hookup so that the new radio sounds comes out of the speakers?

@@JDCarsChannel yeah, I hear ya man. It's just the sat nav for our era can be problematic. I have heard it can actually mess the car up if it dies.
Having issues with the bass being very intense and can’t find the controls for it. On the settings on the table there are sound settings but none related to bass, treble, etc. Any suggestions??
There should be an "EQ" or "Equalizer" app or page in settings... I remember adjusting it but have forgotten where exactly to find it

I didn't have any issues with Siri. The Apple Car Play dongle I did purchase from them, but didn't do a backup camera.

The steering wheel controls worked out of the box. If yours aren't working properly, you can go to settings and set them up there.

No volume knob. The volume controls are touch screen and steering wheel

I notice you have links to both wired and wireless Car Play dongles. Why didn't you use the wireless one?
I've yet to test the wireless version and wanted to make sure this worked so I went with the wired version. Should I do a wireless CarPlay video?
@@JDCarsChannel I just bought the unit through your link with these options: Carplay Android Auto USB dongle, External DVR, Wireless Rearview Camera, External OBDⅡ. I bought the wireless rear camera, after Seicane assured me that it would fit my 2006 BMW X3 3.0i without need for drilling new holes and I would have bought the wireless CarPlay dongle but because it was 3rd party from Amazon, I wasn’t sure of compatibility/stability re: interruption of phone calls while driving. Yes I would love to see a video with as many full wireless options as possible. I’m sure Steve Jobs would love that too! :-) Thank you for your good work!
@@JDCarsChannel So, as mentioned, I used your link to purchase a unit on Aug 29. Since then Seicane keeps sending me emails saying they've shipped via DH for 3 to 5 day delivery, and give me a tracking number. They've sent me 12 emails! Now, on Sep 7, nine days after purchase, DHL still says they haven't even received anything from Seicane? Holy cow! Has Seicane turned into another fraudulent website. Went down this road before buying tools from China. Had to report the fraud to PayPal. They refunded me. I never use anything but PayPal now because there's so much fraud from China. Have you had any issues like this?

This one worked out well for the short time I owned this car. It would occasionally freeze or crash but not terrible

Occasionally that would happen yes.

I'm sorry to hear that. I would suggest checking all connections are secure. Did all speakers work prior to install?
@@JDCarsChannel it looks like it is a bad speaker. Also I can’t get CarPlay to work. I downloaded the APK and installed it. My phone does charge but CarPlay won’t launch.
If you have an iPhone, can you still just use the Bluetooth? Not a huge fan of CarPlay.
