    I’m a former police officer myself and I too wasn’t a fan of the Beretta 92 pistols until I found and purchased Wilson Combat’s Beretta 92G Brigadier Tactical. It has a FANTASTIC DA/SA trigger and it’s spot on when it comes to accuracy. It and my Tanfoglio Defiant Stock Master in 10mm have the best trigger and accuracy of all the pistols in my collection. Though I will also admit that my HK P30L with a trigger job, is very good as well.

    The 226 being the only aluminum framed gun on here says a lot about how it shoots and runs.
    Quite sad that there was never a 226X5 Allround (DA/SA) made. There were a handful of 226 LDCs but that German mastershop original 226 x5 line was a thing of beauty, shot amazing too. The standard sig srt resets the shortest too when paired with the aftermarket triggers like those on the legions. And that’s a DA/SA. Tuned, you’d even get to remove SA pretravel.
    Hell of a platform where it’s reliability often outshines it’s shoot-ability in that the latter often gets overlooked despite the great competition level performance and potential.

    • @keithgraham9547
      @keithgraham9547 6 месяцев назад

      Other than a revolver, I own all compact or subcompacts for carrying. The P229 is, IMO, not very pretty, but shoots extremely well. It really is, along with big brother P226, about everything one can ask for in design and shootability.
      Personally, I despise 9mm because I don't believe the industry hype about some Magic Technology for ONLY 9mm. Standard 9mm ammo is weak, and paying $1.25+ per round for ammo that is adequate is stupid.
      So I prefer 357 SIG, 45acp, and 357 Magnum.
      I told you all that to ask this. Has anyone got experience with a Beretta PX-4 compact or full size to make me believe I should buy one and can get respectable performance with run-of-the-mill 9mm ammo?

    • @gob7116
      @gob7116 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@keithgraham9547 I'm surprised you find the 229 not pretty, not unless this is the one with the legacy slide with half cut serrations. If it looks like a 228, essentially a shorter 226, it's a beaut.
      As for magic technology in ammo, I agree with you that it's not only available for 9mm. I just think that the improvement with larger calibers isn't particularly needed when a good 9mm hst will have enough oomph to stop what it hits while still carrying 20rds in a full size gun.
      A bud of mine has a px4, neat little pistol, the barrel rotating is quite interesting. Barrel length isn't too short so I'd think its enough to run good 9mm. Though if it's going to be a carry, use Federal HST or similar then call it a day.

    • @keithgraham9547
      @keithgraham9547 6 месяцев назад

      @@gob7116 I have a Mk25, but other than the stainless Elite, I don't think the P229 is a "pretty" gun.
      For some reason, around 40 years ago, manufacturers mostly stopped making firearms that were also beautiful pieces of manufacturing and art. I had a Browning Lever Rifle, greatly regret selling it, that was beautiful and a great rifle.
      Some revolvers today are gorgeous, mostly reproductions of the classics. I've had an S&W Model 27 for 50 years, just beautiful piece of work.
      Have you ever read or seen someone explain exactly how this new "9mm bullet" technology works?
      I've found ONE guy who claims he knows, but didn't explain it. But he did say "...it only works with 9mm bullets..." Not 380, 38 Special, 357 SIG, 357 Magnum, or anything else.
      Sounds like be to me.
      I've done my own 9mm test, using three different loads of run of the mill ammo, in a compact pistol (a typical carry gun).
      Once over 18 yards, I got fliers I couldn't blame on me. At 33 yards, shooting from rest, "groups" were 8', 11", and 12" low. The 8" group had the most variance, some more than 24" low.
      I think ordinary 9mm ammo is so underloaded, I have no confidence in it I can't hold as tight groups in 9mm as I do routinely with any other caliber. Real world statistics say 9mm is the worst of all larger calibers, and worse than 22 or 32 by some measures.
      I'm thinking about a PX-4 and see if the longer barrel will improve performance enough to have confidence in it.

    The rival and rival S are just as good as walthers the only thing I don’t like about caniks is the slide is way to chunky and heavy. I wish with the new TTI canik they would’ve trimmed a lot off the slide.

      The Walther's seem to be more reliable. I don't see PDP's choking, and yet I've watched Canik's choke (I work at one of the largest ranges in my state).

    If I was getting a full size, I wouldn't even look outside of Beretta. It's just too iconic, and too pretty.
    On a tighter budget, I'd probably go for a Canik.
