There’s an implied misconception that needs to be addressed. And that is the assumption that Apple is a monolithic entity only capable of one stream of thought. Either they’re listing to customers and doing everything they want, or they’re not listening at all and simply doing their own thing. It’s important to remind everyone that Apple is run by thousands of different people who’re capable of having original ideas while also considering customers needs. And if you’re familiar with how Apple operates, you’ll understand that having original ideas that address consumer needs has been their core philosophy since they were founded in 1976. Now you could make the valid point that Apple abandoned that mission from 1985 to 1997 when Jobs was absent. But that isn’t what people like Jon Rettinger are suggesting. He’s saying that in the last six years, Apple’s values have fundamentally changed from ignoring customers wishes to embracing them. So let me go through each point one by one and add some perspective.

To “knowing what customers want”, I think we should also add “anticipating what customers might come to want”. Describing it solely as the former assumes that all the “needs” are already there and a company simply fulfills them. When it comes to new types of technology, however, “needs” and desires are often created or at least amplified and shaped in a certain way by the very techs.

Why did apple added all those new features on ios13?! Good question the lack of a proper file management system is my main problem with apple products and also the user interface that I simply hate

Years ago, when people were ridiculing Apple for not having a stylus for its premium iPhones, Apple didn't cave in to these ridiculous demands. Instead, they created a stylus for iPad, knowing that iPad users needed it more. Today, no major smartphone companies make styluses, including Samsung.
Since 1-2 years, John's videos are often based on controversy with titles like "I hate Apple" or "Why Apple fails" and things like that. I feel like he jump into the "clickbait" side and just want to attract as many people as possible and this kind of stuff is always very popular on youtube. Its sad because I used to like him with Techno Buffalo in the 2010-16 era.

I am so glad we have RUclipsrs like you, helping us extrapolate the truth from big tech channels with millions of subscribers where when they say something, many who watch will instantly believe that person is right, just because of their number of subscribers and their “credibility”. You help us see past all that with counter arguments they chose not to use for the sake of getting enough viewers to fill their pockets with Ad revenue. I wish TechTubers would just be straight forward and do their full research, otherwise I’d question their credibility and their subscribers.

Jony Ive's departure from Apple is the best thing that could have happened for both parties. Ive has been designing himself into a corner for years and he really can deviate or experiment as an artist with a company as huge as Apple. Similar, Apple's product lines have been a slave to form over function year after year because of his design direction. I'm excited to see what both of them will do in the years to come.

Jony Ive departure is actually more like because Jony Ive cannot have a room for innovation, because Tim Cook would rather focused on making profit and cut some slack on innovation and creativity. Tim Cook showed almost zero interest in design. This made Jony Ive and his team frustrated. These current designs are slave to Tim Cook, and not Jony Ive. If it was up to Jony Ive, you would already see a rather radical departure from current designs.
Li Yong Chen I don’t doubt there’s some truth in that. But cook is a businessman, not an innovator. He will always make the safe decision to ensure profits. Unfortunately this goes against what Apple was under Jobs.

TheDracarys I love that redesign ! It had flatter icons, it removed skeumorphism. And to this day I love the fact that they redesigned iOS in 2013.
Esa Allah i don’t like it one bit. Not only did they put very little effort into making the new design make sense, they also made some of the apps waay less intuitive to use. The reminders app for example: they stealth-added a priority feature to reminders and for the first few months I was scratching my head trying to figure out why my reminders didn’t pop up notifications or make sounds.

As a consumer the only thing I dislike about Apple is the exorbitant prices (lets not talk about work ethics and such), apart from that I agree with what this video shows

You can make some excuses, such as they don't do the same amount data collection as google and microsoft (as far as we know) nor do they have ads in their os like windows, and that you need to account for things other than just the spec sheet. And some products like the imac pro is very competitively priced compared to even diy solutions.
Regardless some are way overpriced, like their 1K stand.

Too many ads. Regardless of how good apple might or might not be, they are pricing me out of their products and Samsung isn't far behind.
I've always thought Apple was a good name for them because of how much they like to polish things. I grew up with Macs and every time I used a Windows PC, it felt like everything had an extra step or two. I'm sure that's just familiarity, but every complaint I heard from a Windows user trying a Mac ironically had to do with the Mac being more user-friendly, to the point they felt like they were using a toy. It seems throughout their history, every design review hinges on, "but is it easy to use?"

Is the Ipad pro (2018) a good tab s2 replacement? Im thinking about getting the 11 inch version. I mainly use it for music, youtube, social media , browsing and netflix .Is an ultrabook a better option?
the ipad has no (good) competition. android is way behind in terms of the tablet industry.
They're not at the same price level. iPad Pro is starting at $799 and Galaxy Tab S2 is starting at $199. I don't recommend both of them. I think Surface Go would be a better option.
For what you do with it? The IPad Pro is King. But expensive. You should also consider the older pros or the 2018 IPad. If Money matters.

Interesting question... to be true even the 2018 iPad is a better tablet than the Tab S4. So it basically speaks for itself. The iPad Pro 11 is like 200 times better than everything Android tablets can offer.

The video must be recharged every time, and when you have a slow internet connection, it's really painful! Just one before the video, that's enough. But that being said, it's all good! The point in this video is correct however the idea of "customers don't know what they want until they see it" has gone away at apple as somebody who was really into apple back before 2012 I would have agreed completely. Yet, why I no longer believe this is that ever since apple has not delivered anything groundbreaking that people did not realize they needed. This magic has disappeared with apple but is starting to show more in Chinese tech like the Vivo Nex a phone with a full display (actual) like what the iPhone X was supposed to have but then got notched.

Thank you!!!! I am a 10+ year customer with apple. And there is one reason why I have them and will keep them... their ecosystem. Everyone says and will always say that Apple is behind the times. Apple is never behind the times. (Samsung gave journalists a Samsung Fold prototype and they all broke them. Pealing off a layer of the screen they weren't supposed to peel off. Now they have hinge issues.) Apple has an R&D team that waits. They wait for the market to be ready. That's, why Apple was 2 years behind the 4G network because they wanted to make the device faster, and not just rely on a new cell phone network. Now I'm ok with everything that Apple does, not because it's Apple. Because I NEVER picked up their product and was never dissatisfied, And that is Apple's ultimate goal. And lastly, when a kid is in an electronics store, watch what tablet they play with...

Hello guys I love Apple, but Yesterday after washing my hands and not mosturizing, I went to touch my iPhone XS which was connected to a charger, and I felt vibration or radiation while touching the metal part of the phone, but after I disconnected it I didn’t feel it anymore, what could this be?

That’s actually normal. It means there’s no ground on your wall outlet (no 3 prong) and you can feel some current on the metal if you brush your finger against it.

Apple definitely has been listening to customers. It's how they have steadily improved over the years.
I don't think 2009 apple notebook lineup confusing, but today is, it is more confusing then ever. Back then the choice was so obvious, my dad would get the white ibook and i would get the macbook pro for work in production. I thought it made so much sense unlike today. Please bring back those days.

I agree with your point about Steve Jobs listening to the customer. What Steve Jobs was doing was to find innovative solutions to problems people have. In other words, no one asked for a colorful computer with a see-through cover, but the iMac did solve a lot of problems people had with personal computers at that time.

Pichkalu Pappita Or, there are so many different Android devices coming out so soon that AREN’T at all different from each other that they couldn’t get any good content out of it in an Android dedicated channel. Besides, Android is just an operating system. It’s not like Android is a company. Apple is a specific company that has a known list of products, but Android is a massive operating system that is used too much as an umbrella term for every phone that isn’t made by Apple.

And don't say Android, because it is not a phone it is an os, Google makes the non selling Pixel. And Microsoft's Surface line, although very good, do not sell any where near the Mac line-up.
All I am saying is these are very different companies. Apple is a hardware company, where as Google and Microsoft are primarily software companies.

Well, I think that Apple has been more willing to challenge even itself, despite having such a glorious history Apple's trying hard not rely on them. Steve Jobs seems to have a lot stronger ideas on what a 'perfect product' would be.

It's an accessibility feature, it doesn't take full advantage of the mouse at all. It just simply uses it as a pointing device. If it was fully featured, that would just make it another Mac but with an OS that's awful as a point & click OS.

There is no way they would allow that unless it played a message notifying the other caller. Otherwise this completely goes against Apple’s stance on privacy.
In many countries it's against the law to record phone calls without notifying the other person. Because of that I don't think they really want to support it natively in the OS.
