This was super interesting! I liked many of the outfits they chose for you, but you’re right - they felt very familiar if you know what I mean. Would love to see a part 2 now that you’ve learned some lessons along the way.

I prefer boots / shoes that match the color of the tights rather than contrast. I LOVE those spotted tights.

i do too, except with light colored shoes. i have some light colored sweater tights and they honestly just look kind of weird on me. i usually save them for long skirts where you can't really see them.

I love how thoughtful you are in your videos. I appreciate you putting this together. I had wondered about this service.
That first look with the leopard coat is fabulous. I wonder if you could find/make something similar to the coat that could be worn throughout the day, instead of as an outer layer? Love the off white booties with it.
Outfit 2 the black and white top with the blazer was also really great.
Outfit 3 with the white turtle neck, green jacket and black pants was also very fun. I Love the beret. It adds fun to the outfit and looks grear with your hairstyle. I don't like the contrasting socks, but that's my personal preference as well. As others have stated, it does sort of cut off your legs instead of elongating them. The necklace was also a great addition!
Outfit 4 the black blazer with the print top and jeans: looked good as well! I'm also not usually a blazer person, but i thought the look was very balanced with casual and dressy. Makes me want to experiment with more prints and with blazers (but I'm going to start with the knit Love Notions Metro Blazer to ease in).
Outfit 5 black linen skirt: also cute! I think it would look cute with the off white turtleneck you had on in the first outfit.
Outfit 6 jean midi dress with the cardigan: My favorite on you. The jacket looked nice, too, but i really liked the proportions of that outfit on you. The belt is perfect, and gives that 1/3 - 2/3 proportion perfectly! I definitely want to make a midi jean dress now!
Outfits 7 & 8 feminine shirt with camel jacket: cute outfit, but i understand your disappointment in how the service worked with that one. I really thought the light pants and booties with that one was super fun, and a bit more unexpected for this time of year. I also thought the addition of the red sweater was great!
If you choose to use the service again, I would love to hear more feedback!
Your comment about your wardrobe feeling off when other things in your life are off or stressful was really insightful. I am feeling that way now as well, and i think the stress of life has a lot to so with that feeling.
I hope things start looking up for you - your style journey is inspiring me, too. 💓

So cool! I especially loved the first outfit and preferred how it looked with the ankle boots you substituted! 😍
I definitely agree with your critiques about the app and its styling service- I was especially annoyed that the stylist made a couple of basic changes to the last outfit and thought it was ok to include it as a second outfit for that week….and it was annoying how she repeated some items throughout the month because you have an AMAZING wardrobe with so many incredible pieces to choose from!….I was thinking she may have been trying to bring more versatility to a singular item by showing multiple ways you can wear it, but instead of wasting one out of two weekly outfits just to show a simple tweak, she should have just included those ideas in the message she wrote for each outfit.😕
I also agree that it seems like it would be a lot more fun to choose a stylist who has a style you admire and is different from your own way of styling your clothes.
I can definitely see your initial thought process in choosing someone with a style that is similar to yours though- it’s probably what I would have done myself, which is why it’s great to know this and other critiques about your experience in case I or anyone else decides to give this service a try, so thank you for sharing your honest thoughts as you always do! 😊
Is there a way for viewers to create outfits for you in the app?? 😍 I know Open Wardrobe has that option, but I’m not sure about Indyx because I just recently downloaded the app and haven’t even taken photos of my wardrobe yet. If that option is available, it would be so cool if us subscribers could create outfit ideas for you- and then if you wanted to, you could pick some of your favorites and make a video with them! 😍

i'm not sure if you can style other people. i know you can see people's closets if they make them public. i haven't done it to mine b/c it feels like a weird invasion of privacy. i don't really know why--i guess it just feels like letting a stranger open up my closet door. i do think your suggestion is a really interesting idea.

    • @kat_thefruitbat
      @kat_thefruitbat Месяц назад

@ Ohh I see…I completely agree and would feel the same way…Feels weird to think that literally anyone using the app could see your entire closet! It would be nice if the app had a feature that allowed people to share their closet only with certain people…Kinda like how you can do that with Google docs, or how you can make your Instagram stories visible only to your list of close friends. If there is a way for other app users to freely create outfits in your closet, maybe you could pick a weekend where you make your closet visible just for those two days, and you could make a RUclips community announcement about it a few days before so just your subscribers would see- It’s just an idea though, and I totally understand if you aren’t comfortable with that either! ❤️🤗 If you do the month-long style subscription again, I think Nathalie (“Yo Homegirl” here on RUclips) would be a great stylist to choose- just a suggestion though! 😊

I thought that was a really good idea to choose a stylist that's a bit out of your comfort zone to help you get more creative with your clothes. I also appreciate your tips about how to layer in order to wear a lightweight blouse in the winter. This was interesting to watch, and I'd be curious to see what a different stylist would do. I hope get less stressful for you soon ❤️

I would love to see a part two. I love my Indyx app and have been thinking of hiring a stylist just to see what they would come up with. I loved the first outfit, the spotted tights and the high boots are so chic. My other favorite was the black skirt outfit, although I thought with the coat it overwhelmed you. I also like the idea of adding a blazer with jeans. Getting closer to hiring a stylist.

Interesting experience, thanks for sharing! I really liked outfits 5 and 6. Like you said, a bit classic/traditional, but it seems that a little extra bit of thought given to layers and accessories really makes you shine. Maybe just looking back at what elements make up those outfits will help you mix your own in the future. I do like the beret on you! I just found a black one when I pulled out my sweaters for winter... I will try to use it :)
I can relate to sticking with comfortable shoes. Those taller boots looked great, though :)
I am often building outfits from the ground up, because foot comfort is crucial to me at the moment. And staying warm. Must stay warm. I just discovered those magic fleece lined tights (they are black on the outside, skin colored fleece on the inside... hard to describe) and they are making dresses and skirts a lot more appealing. Keep sharing!

I’m preferring the bootees on look 1, but perhaps with less sheer tights. Your linen blend skirt and boots are lovely but I feel that the longer line jacket adds more bulk to your petite frame. Your personal sense of style is spot on Sara, you know what looks great on you 💞💞

    • @knottygnome

i'm not sure what you are saying but if DM means direct message--you don't really get any do-overs. your stylist would just take your feedback going forward. i did remove the dreaded tall boots from my closet after she created that outfit.

I agree with your assessment of the style service. She just did you. Hopefully, you’ll give it another shot with a more daring stylist. You are more likely to find elements that suit you while laughing at others. I’d like to see you use color more. Love the beret. It’s chic and super flattering as well as warm. Oh, and it adds an inch to your height!

I have tights like the first styled outfit. I wear them with lbd cocktail dresses, pencil skirts and in place of plain black.
I liked the blazer outfits but then as I've said before, I'm a blazer freak.
The Doc Martens look great but again they are my favorite shoes. I can't do kitten heels or heels less than 3/4" square and that is because no matter what I do, they catch in sidewalks and other things. Therefore I choose mostly block heels. Some are 5" and the average is 2 and 3/4". I always feel short at 5'6". Silly I know.
I don't remember the brand hut a few years ago, my best friend sent me 8 pairs of winter tights that are common in Sweden. Never am cold wearing them with dresses or skirts in the winter. I've even worn them in Sweden in the winter.

I think you're an amazing sewist; that's one of the reasons I love your channel. Another reason is because you're quite analytical and project management oriented regarding your selection of patterns and fabric, your selection of the projects you choose to work on, and your evaluation of what worked/didn't work with each project. It's from this perspective that I must share, I do not think your stylist provided you in general with good options. There was only one I liked - the midi denim dress with the burgundy boots and camel cardigan - all the others, to be honest, I felt did not suit you well or, sadly, were fairly standard in their coupling. You're a terrific stylist. You understand your body, coloring, and favored silhouettes. The outfits your stylist chose for you - likely for many of the reasons you mention - were misses in my book for you; particularly length, originality, bulkiness, and the hems on the pants (specially when paired with the shoes) seemed too short. Your clothes are beautiful! Your finished garments are incredibly well done. I don't think you need a stylist. I think you need to experiment with differing silhouettes and colors to introduce diversity and surprises into your wardrobe; not using a stylist. Thanks for sharing.

You have a very petite frame and I think some of the proportions are off. Your blazers should be much shorter and the flare jeans are much too cropped. I try to wear the same color shoes as my pants which makes my short legs look longer. Being petite can be a challenge with styling. The shirtdress is a very nice look… it is simple and doesn’t overwhelm your petite frame.

The bell bottom pants are too short, truncating your legs further. All the outfits are classics but it seems you'd be more interested in adding more twists to your wardrobe. The next stylist should provide the unique twists you need. Your clothes are beautiful pieces.
