That’s a really cute bag, Sarah! No, I’ve never made a bag like that. Actually, I don’t think I ever made a bag at all. I’m not going to say I won’t, I just haven’t as of yet. Love yours though! ❤❤❤
Looks like a fun project (I love hand stitching) and a pretty good price with all the hardware, leather, and pre-punched holes. It looked very nice styled with the black and red outfit. Great review.
Your bag is beautiful. Nice job. I make a lot of bags, but they are all fabric/quilted bags. I carry mine on my shoulder or crossbody, so I find leather bags too heavy. I do make my quilted bags a solid color or tone on tone so they don't scream handmade or Vera knock-off. They are also more versatile and professional in a solid color.
I got myself one for Christmas, for my husband to give me. I can’t remember which bag I picked, so I will be surprised on Christmas morning. I’ve made bags with my sewing machine, I’m so looking forward to hand stitching one. Thanks for sharing your experience and all your tips.
well, happy xmas to you! i was surprised that i preferred the handstitching to machine stitched bags. my machine can really struggle with all the thicknesses so this was a nice change.
What a lovely bag! You did a super job, it looks so professionally made! Good to hear your experience of making it too, I know you will always give an honest review of any product you try, and really appreciate that.
I’ve made 4 different Babylon bags. The fact that there are no written directions and that you need to watch a not-wonderful video is annoying. However, I’ve found the quality to be excellent, the finished item beautiful and, most important, the bags last. I’ve been using the tote as my every day bag for almost a year and there’s no wear at all. Plus, they’re fun to make!
Your bag looks very professionally made. My favorite styling is your weekend look with the added accessory….🐕, great way to complete the look! 😊. I had to chuckle when you thought it would unravel and fall apart with your belongings inside…..😂…. Think of the materials used and how tightly sewn the seams are, you made a solid, fantastic bag. Be proud. Thanks for sharing.
@ I get the self doubt but you are an excellent seamstress and you always come across as a confident woman. I sort of had a cartoon image of your bag exploding and your belongings flying all over. 😂. Have a great week.
Nice bag and I been thinking of buying a kit for Birkin bag if there is a large red. I have a copy made of black crocodile that my ex gave me years ago. I love it. I do put the flap over but don't bother with the buckles. If I bought the kit, I would make a complimentary wide shoulder strap. Looking to find a large Grace kit too. Or I just just buy a certain bag from Kate Spade. Actually what happens is my daughter and I voice chat and start sharing links on stuff. Once in a while she asks if I really love an item. Then within a month it arrives at my apartment as a gift. I prefer big bags because I am on foot or my wheelchair chair for long distances, so everything I need for the day goes in, including my lunch.

The bag came out so nice. I like how you styled it with the scarves. Very classy.
Thank you so much, Christine!

having everything in one kit definitely made it a lot more approachable, i think.
I can’t imagine sewing that bag. You did a great job. I like the scarf tied to the handle.
Thank you! 😊 i couldn't have imagined it either but it was a lot less scary than i thought.

that's awesome! i definitely agree with you that solid bags are more versatile.

i mean, i didn't think that would happen, but it it did that would have been pretty embarrassing. did i mention that i am often paranoid? 🤣
