As Macron thanked the Nexus Institute for hosting him, one protester shouted: 'I think we lost something; where is French democracy?' at the start of Macron's speech on European sovereignty at the Nexus Institute. Another chimed in: 'Why did you bypass [the] French parliament?' in reference to the controversial pensions bill his government recently passed.

Did he really just basically say
"see we have democracy because people can interrupt" ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Yes lol and arrested
Yes he did, and right after,
"Did sort of thing is forbidden"
@@Niko3387Y Must be a new style of debate
Yeah. He said that as they were silenced and removed by security. What a contradiction.
That’s the extent of his conception of democracy. A gimmick. Forgive him, he’s got more than he can handle at home right now so lecturing people during state visits is his thing now.
As a Dutch person I’m very proud of my fellow Dutch students who are known for their free opinion and straight forward way of saying what they think.
They were Dutch students? They sounded very dumb...
and as a French person I feel a lot of appreciation and gratitude for Dutch people
Goedendag, In France we are very proud of those dutch students, they are heroes for us. Dank u wel Nederlands het is echt goed. tot ziens And yes we don't have democracy no more, this guy is a psycho and dangerous.
Yea whole class citizen for freedom! I love Dutch guts.
Proud of what? Being disrespectful to a President?
Democracy is when people's opinion means something and influence on something, dear Macron. Not just right to scream in a void.

Isnt democracy means everyone got 1 vote? France has voted so democracy is served.
民主的意思不是用暴力手段推翻资产阶级政府,建立归属人民的社会主义国家吗?
Democracy means,
The majority of the people decide.
At least 80% of the French are against what Macron is doing.
Not to mention he bypassed the French parliament to dictate his will.
It is more like 60% and the rest of us know why those reforms are necessary...
@@RemiBusseuil well....
The majority of the French people disagree.
You are basically confirming what Macron is doing is undemocratic.
What about bypassing the French parliament?
Do you understand why that was necessary as well ????
It's hardly uncommon to use article 49.3 of the French constitution to bypass parliament. Pretty much every government in France has used it in modern times. If the French don't like that particular law, they should start a protest to have the constitution amendended to get rid of it.
The French Revolution killed 1/3 of the population, so what is the price? Democracy, isn't it? Did Macron trample on the French ancestors who died in the French Revolution by betraying democracy?
Macron can legally bypass the French govt because previous govt allows it in law. If French dont like it, start with changing the law. No point whining when you are on the loosing side.
So these are the "dealing with bad situations capabilities" of someone that would like to lead the whole of Europe lol
With an ally like Macron, the alliance does not need an enemy.
Lol
Since France is going to be a U.S. vassal state without the ability to be independent, it is the only country among the five permanent members of the United Nations that does not have autonomy. It is better to give up the position of one of the five permanent members of the United Nations to India. India has more backbone than France.
Macron is doing the right thing though. It might not be democratic, but with rising life expectancies, you can't just keep the retirement age the same.
Also less kids are being born, who is going to drive the economy if hals the country is retired?

@@donder91 the pension is solvent. It has no need to be changed. What he should be doing if there is a deficit is, reducing military spending. Spending that he actually increased recently by 40%.
As for the birth crisis, all you accomplish by raising the age is kicking the can down the road again, where it will be even worse next time. Ways of combating an aging population is either increasing immigration or increasing public spending on pro-natal policies, like universal daycare etc…
After his official visit to China, Macron has suddenly became like a “Chinese-spy-like” European politician.😂

There is an aphorism in China.
People are kind of like water. It seems it's nothing and no power. But the water can float a boat, and the water can drown the boat down.

@@江河入海流 Hi, Thank you so much. I amended my comment above. Thank you for letting me notice that I've been mistaken.

But regardless, the original passage is from Xunzi, a Confucius philosophical writing from Warring States period. The passage in Chinese is:
君者,舟也。庶人者,水也。水則載舟,水則覆舟。欲安,則莫若平政愛民矣。
Translation:
A monarch is that of a boat. The common folks is that of water. The water can carry the boat, the water can also flip the boat over. If one desires peace, then he shall employ fair policy and loves his people.
We've seen enough such democracy. Here in Athens in the ancient times the people actively participated in the decision making process. What we have is not democracy. Had it been so, the world would be a better place. I say let's bring about some actual democracy-δημοκρατία. Power to the people not professional liars (lawyers-journalists for the most part) who act like our representatives.
Socialism is needed for real democracy. Capitalism is fundamentally undemocratic.
Athenian democracy is of exclusionary nature and not compatible with the modern world.
For that, you would have to abandon capitalism otherwise the rich man vote would outvote your vote.
@@zeyadsaeed9580 it's not capitalism it's oligarchy like it was in Sparta.

Thanks, from France! Indeed, we lost democracy with him and his government.
Well we never had it
@@winterguest2003 maybe, but it was less evident and violent.

He's doing his best to France as a country. It's still a democracy and you can vote him out but you have to experience the consequences yourself after that.
You not getting what you want is not ‘losing democracy’. Spoiled child.
The moment where Macron realised he wasn't in China anymore
