    @MutilatedMetalMatt Pretty much, i had to film 7 or 8 lessons for the upcoming issues on the spot with no preparation (didnt have time to prepare, was recording an ep/preparing for our euro tour) and it was Guitar World, needless to say i was nervous. Sorry guys, im a guitarist, not a public speaker.

    No offense to anyone who is talking about Misha Mansoor saying " uh uh... like uh like yea uh....." I just wanna point out that this man is an absolute genius when it comes to music. His lack of theory is amazing! for someone to create beautiful melodies, timing ect... with out any kind of theory or anything!?!?!? he was born with a gift! this man deserves RESPECT! Hes not good at "speaking" hes good at playing guitar like a God. Listen to every word he is saying, and try to recognize his beautiful creativity.

    being a master of music theory can allow you to play some amazingly complex stuff. Yet if you focus too much on creating a theoretically sound sequence of notes you lose that raw emotion that really speaks to those without knowledge in theory. Its one of the main reasons why classical music tends to only be truly appreciated by people who are knowledgeable in theory.

    • @brunodelcarpio
      @brunodelcarpio 6 лет назад +1

      Metanoia facts. its like classic music and metal are opposites. metal is pure creativity with little to no rules. i hate how half the people on here talking about how he should know theory. hes amazing without knowing theory, to each his own

    @thelilEmoBoy I didnt form or start "Djent", and i wasnt trying to do anything other than just create music that sounded good to me and that i could be proud of, the same is as true back then as it is today. Label it progressive or djent or whatever you want, but its all about having no limitations to me...

    You guys are a trip. This guy goes in detail as best he can to try and help others who are not so advanced, to help understand and teach what so many love about what hes doing. I totally appreciate the fact this guy takes his time to literally spill it all out for you here in the simplest form but yet others complain.. LOL WOW.

  • @Periphery

    @JerkyChid And i also play and have deals with Ernie Ball, Decibel Guitars and Strandberg Guitars, working on something with Daemoness and Vigier at the moment as well. What can i say, i love amazing guitars!

  • @sheancarey106
    @sheancarey106 10 лет назад +5

    Yes perhaps they could have done a bit of editing with the " likes" and " uh's" but he's a musician and a very skilled and creative one at that, not a news anchor... since when are guitar players public speakers, he speaks through his fingers.

    @Patinator37 I LOVE IT!

  • @ImKevan
    @ImKevan 4 года назад +1

    I love how he puts into words the same thing i kinda do, i know some music theory, but i'm not really thinking about that when i write things, i just kinda play stuff and see how it sounds and if it works together, knowing some theory around time signatures is definitely useful, but Eddie Van Halen once said "if it sounds good it is good", sure its great to know tons of theory, but its also just good to experiment and see what sounds good, who says you have to stick to any rules, if you wanna stick a crazy solo on some strange traditional instrument no ones heard of into a metal song, if it sounds good, do it because who knows how much awesome music we wouldn't have now if people just listened when someone said "that not how you compose music" or "no you can't mix those styles of music".

    Say you have a high gain distortion. It'll probably have a lot of hiss noise on it. A noise gate can remove that, but if it's too aggressive you end up with a very choppy, artificial sound as the gate starts to remove the start and end of the notes themselves.

  • @TheSquareOnes

    Guys, he's clearly talking about the riffs at a conceptual level. That that has merit should be fairly obvious. Just because it's neither a theory breakdown or a "here's the tab so you can play this too" session doesn't mean it isn't working as intended or doesn't have a purpose.
