How funny it is that we hand workers must suffer double the Summer heat, our laps covered in afghans and sweaters, in order to enjoy warmth and beautiful things in fall and winter. This is lovely and charming and will not likely give me heat stroke in it's making 😉😘💖
Thank you! An ad popped up for a website selling this type of garment, but I don't love the fiber content, and I saw complaints about the single size being too small for some customers. This is exactly what I needed.
This is so pretty! I cannot wait to get started on it. Perfect for those fall days that are just chilly enough for arm coverings but not a full jacket. Thank you for sharing.
So, i recently spent money i frankly shouldn't have for yarn I /technically/ didn't need and was stuck on what to make. Did a search for crochet tutorials and found your video. Not disappointed. I appreciate how....soothing(?) And lovely your voice(and accent) is. Also, you don't waffle about with silly shit and cut out the unnecessary to not pad out your video. That probably should like a shitty, unnecessary critique. It's really not meant to be. I deeply appreciate creators like you being so generous it walk lowly chuckle fuck hookers like me through a creation when you frankly don't have to. Thank you for this. (In case you were curious, the yarn i grabbed was Loops and Threads Rose Garden multi, Boysenberry and Blush Heather. It's a size 5(bulky) and I'm using a 7mm hook, so the size of mine will probably be a touch bigger than yours, what with yous being 4 yarn and 5.5 hook) I'll probably have enough to make a hat or arm warmers, maybe a hood to attach to this- who knows but the bulk of my deeply unnecessary purchase is going to making a thing i want for me. I haven't made a thing for me in a minute. Again, thank you.
I'm so glad I found your comment of all the comments in all the patterns for this kind of scarf! I used to live in Miami but am back home up North. However, my nephew is in Jacksonville, hundreds of miles north of where I was in FL, and he's engaged! I wanted to surprise his fiance with one of these, but I am hoping she finds it useful. I am pretty sure I'd have found this useful in Miami, but indoors, not outdoors - too much a/c down there! So thanks for a sort of confirmation that it may be welcome in the Florida "Winter."
Just finished mine - I used a slight bulky weight Icelandic wool. It works but the 72 inches was a bit on the long side for me. So it doesn’t sit totally right but it is very warm. I did have to watch a styling video on how to wear one of these 😂 good pattern besides my modifications. I supposed it would have been smart to measure how much a scarf wraps around me first before committing fully to the 72 inches.
Hello! I’m hoping you see this- for a 5’3” woman, would you suggest decreasing the 72” ?? And then my question is is the 72” from the first wrist ? Or just the sc x part
I bought some Heartland yarn (Lion Brand) last year especially to crochet this scarf but, never got around to it!….. Well, I’ve started it today. Thank you Carrie for all your designs. I love them all! :)
Thank You Carrie....this is perfect and of course you make it so simple. This is exactly what I was talking about when I texted you a little while back..Bless You, Dear Carrie...
Oh my goodness, this is PERFECT!!! I've been wanting to ACTUALLY learn how to crochet, and this project seriously PERFECT... I'm in Canada, so if I start making this one in the summer, it would be ready for our beautiful and colorful sweater weather! No need to feel reluctant to bring out any fall content, we're here for it, especially us beginners who would need a little extra time lol LOVE the look of that SWEATER WRAP!!! Looks so stylish and expensive!!! Heck, I would even be tempted to try a cotton version of it for spring or summer as well when it gets cool, or for when I want to cover up a bit Excellent excellent video Carrie, absolutely LOVE your channel!!! 😊❤👍
I’m asking myself the same question but no answers yet; I’m guessing I’ll be making it through the second sleeve , put it together and then see if I made it way too long or not, undo if I must and go from there.
I got the email about this pattern and couldn't wait until I had time to watch the video too! I love this, it is definitely going to be my next project, that yarn is so shiny and beautiful!
HI Carrie I am in the process of making this but not sure at the beginning where it states to chain 51 this is the length of the sleeves is this suppose to go up your whole arm? HELP
I love this, but mine seems gigantic in the sleeve and I've done everything according to the pattern. AND I'll end up using 5 skeins rather than the 3 indicated. I might frog and do over, using smaller hooks.
Love the pattern. I only have one question. When you say to crochet until it is 72 inches, does that mean measure from the start of the first sleeve? Or do you count 72 inches from the body of the scarf (excluding the sleeve in the 72 inches)?
How is it put together? Do you have to make two cuz you didn't say that? And if you do make two how do you join that? It said beginner friendly and I'm an intermediate crochet and I am completely confused as to how it becomes a sweater with sleeves?
Yeah, I'm making this (but with a different yarn) and it's about 60 inches so far, but I'm a bit confused too. Does it wrap around the body twice? Did you try it?
I haven’t tried yet, but I will. I just find it crazy when they go to all the trouble to make a beautiful tutorial then don’t show us the end product. I don’t understand how it wraps around.
Hi, love your pattern so far. I have completed the rib and started on the next bit, but mine seems to be a lot tighter. I'm using the same yarn and crochet hooks. Any advice?
I made this. I didn’t begin the 2nd sleeve until til I was at 76” from the beginning of the first sleeve & it is slightly too loose on me which is kind of what I wanted 😂. If I had to do it again, I would start my 2nd sleeve at 73” and I would use a more stretchy yarn ( not 100% cotton). Also my sleeves are a bit too wide and does not stay on my forearms & wrist.
@@keelymeehan1078 I watched this and it is very helpful. Their tip for styles 4 and 5 are hilarious to me though. Hahaha. Wrap it around your neck. Leave the sleeves dangling. Hahaha! 😂
I’m currently just over half way through and it’s been 4 days, (I could not tell you the exact hours but probably around 6-8) I’m also not the fastest crocheter and I went down a hook size since my yarn is slightly thinner so it’s probably taking me longer than someone following the tutorial exactly! Hope this made sense and helped a bit :)

I totally agree, Liz Jo. I LOVE Carrie's style and she always choses the most amazing - and AFFORDABLE yarn.

I enjoyed your video and I just finished this project for my daughter will see how she likes it. I’ll let you know you’re very good instructor.
I just finished making this and it turned out absolutely beautifully! Thank you!
Stunning colour of yarn and a beautiful pattern. Think I'll make one for my mum. It'll help keep her warm 🥰

Beautiful stitch and must be so warm.
I love Heartland yarn from Lion brand. It's the softest, squishy yarn that feels amazing next to your skin, Plus they have gorgeous colors to boot.
Fabulous thank you for sharing , looking forward to making this for my daughter in law
I can’t wait to make this and wear it for all of 3 days in my Florida “winter”

I love it! I'm making it! Thanks, Carrie!
Hi- When you said to stitch until you reach 72", does that include the sleeve portion? Thank you😊
I had the same question but she's not replying. I am currently working on mine but came here to see if I could get some answers.
I’m asking myself the same question but no answers yet; I’m guessing I’ll be making it through the second sleeve , put it together and then see if I made it way too long or not, undo if I must and go from there.
I ended up including the 1st sleeve and scarf portion to 72" then made 2nd sleeve.

Is it 72 inches counting the first part done? Or just the second part?

Hello dear friend nice to meet you ,,,
So I'm trying to recreate this, is it the body part alone that measures 72 inches or the 72" includes the first part of the sleeve?
I think it includes the first sleeve
Hi that's beautiful scarf looks easy and straight forward pattern to do I'm going to make mine from Bernadette from Hertfordshire
If you don't already have them on your channel, I would recommend/request a video on leg warmers! 😊
OMG I love this.
Hey! I really want to make this but your blog isn't working for me, idk what the stitches would be for an XL

Love the pattern. I only have one question. When you say to crochet until it is 72 inches, does that mean measure from the start of the first sleeve? Or do you count 72 inches from the body of the scarf (excluding the sleeve in the 72 inches)?

same. Did you ever figure it out?
Slowly working on it and coming out lovely. But the 72 in is that just the middle piece without the arm or with the arm we've completed?
Omg, I just love this. Brilliant! Would you recommend s/m for a size 12 height 5'9"? Or what size?
I love this and want to make it. I feel silly asking but how do you wear it to look like the picture?
Love it ! But I was waiting so see how its put on 🥺

@@annajoyhdz Agreed 😅
Quick question.. want to make a few for gifts. But I'm not sure how long to make them so it's not real sloppy.
Can i use the same hook size you have used but with a dk yarn instead for a "lighter" feel to the wrap for summer?
Hi, love your pattern so far. I have completed the rib and started on the next bit, but mine seems to be a lot tighter. I'm using the same yarn and crochet hooks. Any advice?
Great tutorial! Many thanks.
Hi!!
Did anyone find out out if the 72 inches should include the sleeve?
Still wondering...🤔 OK-I went back to the website. It says 72" FROM sleeve😊
I love this design, do you know how i could make it a bit longer ? I really like to make a skirt with it 😊
I absolutely love this sweater wrap. I am making one in a beautiful Irish jade green. Thank you for the pattern
Hi! I’m working in the large, should that be 78 inches unstretched or stretched?
Thankyou l love how your shawl looks so pretty God bless

could you use 8ply? and it so would anything happen ? or would it stay the same. making my mum one for Christmas and myself one later. thanx

I have already started the pattern, I'm following the size your doing. I'm just wondering will it fit me and the sleeves be long enough!
Hi from Italy. I would appreciate knowing how long the wrap is without and with the arm part.
I’m struggling to see the final shape for this. Is one arm inserted, scarf wrapped completely around the body then the other arm is inserted? Ty
