I think I'm losing my hair on temples or it could be a mature hairline (I'm 28 years old), but I'm sure my hairline it's slowly going back. Could this be because of stress at work, shampooing hair everyday (something i do because of pandemic), poor diet? My hair is not thinning anywhere else just my hairline is not the same. I’m currently having thinning mostly on my scalp. I just recently had some huge life events happen mainly graduating engineering school, searching for a job and interviewing with a very large company. These events I believe stacked on top of my very poor mental health, I have been suffering with severe anxiety and depression for roughly 11 or 12 years now, I think this caused me to have TE. My family doesn’t have a history of balding on both mom and dad’s sides. So I’m ruling out pattern baldness but I will watch for it. I also noticed that the hairs that are falling have the white bulb on the end. I’m taking a few vitamins and my stress has been getting better especially since I got the job.
I have the white bulb thing and my hair is thinning from everywhere. What do you think the bulb at the hair end means ? Is it an indicator of TE or it's just dandruff/dry scalp
Notice my hair got a lot thinner I’m not surprised as for weeks/months when wash loads hair fall out lately ain’t been nowhere near as bad, was I in shedding stage? Can my hair become thick again as it was really thick, note always have my hair in bun for very long time could that be an issue from falling out
Hi everyone i just want to ask is it normal to get 1 or 3 hair every time you run ur hands through it and when i wash my hair my hair easily falls out and get 20 to 15 hair😭 and short hairs falls too
First, thanks for the informative video. A week ago I began shedding hair heavily. I can run my hand through my hair at any spot, pull slightly and come out with 10-12 hairs in my hand. I see no bulb on the end of the hairs when viewed under a magnifying glass. 7 years ago I lost all my hair and was diagnosed with alopecia totalis. 98% grew back within a year. Two years ago I had a sudden shedding episode similar to the current one. It didn’t last long. Since last week I have had steroid scalp injections and begun taking Nutrifol. What do I have, and what more can I do?
single hair strands keep falling off on my face like once every 1-2 hours and single strands also sometimes fall out when i run my hand through it, is that normal? im 16
I'm currently having TE, but of all the hairs that shed, there are hairs that 3cm and shorter. I'm also on dutasteride, so it should not be AGA, right. And the sudden hair loss is very rapid, within 3 months.
All the men in my family have a very pronounced widow's peak, that made me think that I was going bald but no hahah, I don't like it but I have to accept it in my genes. I only see that my hair falls out when I take hormonal pills to control my thyroid, that's all for now.
Thank you for explaining TE I'm going through it now and now I definitely know it's TE I have it's stressful stress is what caused it I was freaking out because I thought it was female pattern or alopecia
Keto gave me TE. I’m 18, I’d just gotten out of highschool. I used to diet for aesthetics over school breaks when I had nothing to do. I did it healthy and Had a great exercise routine. Fast forward after highschool, I had a job I hated, and I was buying my own food for the first time in my life. My keto turned into a messed up way to save money. This bit me in the butt 3 months later. I also had a high fever around that time, stress, nutrient deficiency, bad sleep. I’d always been healthy but I learned I needed to be aware when so much change is happening in my life.
My wife gave birth to our son and when my son got into 2 months old, I noticed massive shredding in my hair. And I was stressed by it knowing I am trying to grow a long hair after a year.
Im about 12 months into growing my hair and im losing heaps of hair. Looks like it may be how im drying it tho. Im not looking after it too well. These videos are incredibly helpful. Thank you
I lose lot of hair while shampooing(100 maybe) but on other days when i comb, i lose only like 15-20 strands. Is it normal to lose that much while shampooing?
Very helpful. I’ve had a little bit of slight receding this past year but I’m 44 so expected. Nothing really noticeable. Then all of the sudden I experienced rapid shedding. Hundreds of hairs a day and noticeable thinning all over the top of my scalp. All longer hair. Then realized it started about six weeks after Covid. Was sick for over a month. No real loss on crown, from right behind hairline and all over thinning. Shedding has finally slowed down and now it’s just a waiting game to see growth come back.
@@packeredSmith Bro idk it can take a month or three i guess. Even now I am getting it again. I guess it's easier to notice since I have longer hair, but it might be Telogen Effluvium and or just seasonality in general
Just found your channel, been growing my hair out since January 2020. Felt like I wasn’t taking good care of my hair and everything I researched I would get different answers/recommendations. My biggest thing was wanting to find someone to answer the questions I had. I’ve had a buzz cut my whole life, and when I grew it out I starting shedding a lot more than I was expecting. Your videos really helped. Thank you!
I don’t know if I’m losing hair or not… I’ve always had a cowlick at my crown but it’s more noticeable now with my long hair. Too scared to cut it. I was severely vitamin d deficient so that could’ve been the culprit but I’m not sure. Keeping positive though, and if needed I will go for a transplant. Thank God for doctors.
i'm going through sudden extreme hair shedding so much so that i pull out several strands just by running through it and my bed is always surrounded by hair. Wash days are the worst where i panic so much. I also have longish curly hair so i don't brush much so it's worse. I counted and its about 110 hair a day, sometimes even more. I also have dandruff issues.the hair shedding is on all sides, especially on my sides and back. Hell my sides are almost bald :((
in this febuary i've started using creatin. and since april i have hair loss. i've stopped using creatin since june. last week my doctor said u have TE. so my question is what am i supposed to do from now on? in the meantime ferritin , b12 etc. they all in the range
I'm 98% sure I'm dealing with TE after being sick with the rona running a fever for two weeks. I've noticed almost all my hairs that I shed have the little white bulb at the end. With TE are all the hairs that will be lost already lost? For instance I'm scared to wash or touch my hair for fear of losing more hair, but if the hair is already lost then I should be focusing on the regrowth to hopefully come in a few months
Yeah you right it's TE I have it too after a very hard crossfit trainings for a 2 months it was so stressful for my body.....and after a 2 months my hair start fallling out with a withe bulb....I did a blood test and my Ferritin is low 25 Endurance training deplite my ferritin store so fast....If you have ferritin deficiency you will have TE ferritin level should be 70 for a healthy hair !
Hey Trav, regarding your beard serum for growing out a beard, you used 2 ingredients castor oil and peppermint oil. But you didnt explain how much the ratio should be. Is it correct that for the serum for every 100ML castor we should mix 5ML peppermint oil? I would reallly appreciate it if u could clarify this. Thanks Trav!
5 year relationship ended, 3 months later noticed full length hairs coming out in the shower and thinning in front (behind the hairline). I'm not supposed to go bald genetically speaking so...Hopefully it's TE.
@@LoDef647 The excess shedding stopped and it seems thicker. I started supplementing high strength biotin and putting Mielle rosemary mint oil mixed with coconut oil in my hair 2-3 times a week and leaving it in for at least three hours before washing it out. Who knows if either of those things contributed to halting the shedding or the thickening of my hair, but whatever I guess.
I've been struggling with Telogen effluvium ever since I was 13-14 years old. I would always avoid a middle part on my head because you can see my scalp. Currently, at 22 years old, I'm taking finasteride, minoxidil, and 1.5mm derma stamp to fight back and regrow. I had the thinning at the top of my head, the sides and back are all thick. It may be baldness because my dad is bald, but he did not start balding until his early 30s.

I’ve watched a handful of your tip videos and I’m sure they’re all true and I’ve tried some of the tips and they have shown some difference, but it’s so strange because a lot of the stuff you’re saying doesn’t add up for me😂 idk why but things like having dry skin most likely means you’ll have dry hair just don’t add up for me. I have very dry skin but very healthy hair. I have a few split ends, not a lot, but I’ve had them for a while and my longest hairs (reaching the bottom of my pectoral muscles) are split, so my hairs still growing with split ends. It’s just little things like that where I’m afraid your tips may not help me personally and I’d like to know if there are any other sources for tips for strange hair behavior like mine. Thanks dawg! Edit: Also I’d like to add, my hair is great, I’m only looking for tips just in case I need them one day because I’m just 17 currently and I may start modeling, so in the middle of my career I don’t want to start having complications. Thanks again!

I think Im getting breakage. Alot of shampoo seems to dry my hair too much. I see like 5 to 10 hairs a day. Should I get a shower filter. The water wear I moved seems to be alot harder too.
My own hair growth lenght is more or less, but very similiar what you have. I noticed this, while I let my hair just be. But after 4 years the lenght remain the same. I do use hair salon services 1-2 times a year. And they usually cut the end tails and check all the split ends. Anyway, there is a limit to hair grown but then there are some exceptions you may see in internet and that's purely because of genes so don't get upset if your hair won't be 6 meters long or your muscles hard as marble ; )

A week after surgery November 9th I did not shower for a week I obviously pulled out a bunch off my head but it even after that shower my shed hasn’t stopped since then, each strand has the white bulb at the end this is all new to me at the age of 32 vid helped a bunch
I've had long hair since I was 17 (currently 35). So far it's holding up ok (probably receded over the years but I haven't noticed a drastic difference). If I ever notice a drastic change, it's all coming off. It's been a long ride. All or nothing (at least I'll still have my beard)

If u are a men and u think u are balding, theres a 95% chance that u have androgenic alopecia, meaning u are balding not just loosing hair temporarely. Try to start it as soon as possible cause if u lose ground is extemely hard to get back that loss ground, so the earlier the better. I'm shedding under 100 hairs a day, all full length hairs, no vellus hair, but I'm not seeing the hair come back and Im losing my hairline. Any advice is appreciated on what it could be. You said, "patients that shed less than 100 hairs, but 10% or more of them were vellus hairs had AGA" and "patients who shed over 100 hairs a day, and more than 10% of them were terminal hairs, have TE". I just need more clarification because I fall into both categories as far as less than 100 hairs shed a day but all of them are terminal hairs, but I see loss in density month after month... Notice my hair got a lot thinner I’m not surprised as for weeks/months when wash loads hair fall out lately ain’t been nowhere near as bad, was I in shedding stage? Can my hair become thick again as it was really thick, note always have my hair in bun for very long time could that be an issue from falling out
How's your hair now?
Video starts at 4:36
Hi everyone i just want to ask is it normal to get 1 or 3 hair every time you run ur hands through it and when i wash my hair my hair easily falls out and get 20 to 15 hair😭 and short hairs falls too
How's your hair now?
i definitely don’t shed more than 100 hairs a day and i definitely have to work on breakage! this video was definitely needed, thanks trav!
omg you're the best so far to explain this without beating around the bush! thank you
Most of my hairfall are very tiny like 0.1 cm what does this indicate???
First, thanks for the informative video. A week ago I began shedding hair heavily. I can run my hand through my hair at any spot, pull slightly and come out with 10-12 hairs in my hand. I see no bulb on the end of the hairs when viewed under a magnifying glass. 7 years ago I lost all my hair and was diagnosed with alopecia totalis. 98% grew back within a year. Two years ago I had a sudden shedding episode similar to the current one. It didn’t last long. Since last week I have had steroid scalp injections and begun taking Nutrifol. What do I have, and what more can I do?
single hair strands keep falling off on my face like once every 1-2 hours and single strands also sometimes fall out when i run my hand through it, is that normal? im 16
Same here I'm 17
Why hair is shedding with black bulb at end? What it mean?
How are u doing now?

I shed around 50 hairs on an average daily. I m worried. Is it normal?
if i lose hair through stress, does it fully come back?
This video calmed me down A LOT. Thank you
Keto gave me TE.
Are you a boy or girl??
Does TE happens to males also?
My wife gave birth to our son and when my son got into 2 months old, I noticed massive shredding in my hair. And I was stressed by it knowing I am trying to grow a long hair after a year.
well now im pretty sure im balding🙂🙂😭
I was getting anxious about shedding however I just have a ton of hair . So it just happens.
Im about 12 months into growing my hair and im losing heaps of hair. Looks like it may be how im drying it tho. Im not looking after it too well. These videos are incredibly helpful. Thank you
how r u now
I lose lot of hair while shampooing(100 maybe) but on other days when i comb, i lose only like 15-20 strands. Is it normal to lose that much while shampooing?
Yep. It’s more on wash days because your shed hairs accumulate and stay stuck in your hair. When you wash you get them all out
How's your hair now?
Does telogen hairs come back ? Or its loss permanently ?
Wow! This video really helped me not freak out. I'm sheding like crazy but TE for sure.
Has it grown back??
I had this a year ago and was low key scary. Now it's good
What did you do the fix it..
I'm having sudden hair loss and I'm shitting bricks rn
@@packeredSmith nothing, fixes itself
@@ZadakLeader thanks..how long did it take ?
Thank you!
So when i see a white bulb at the end is that a problem then?
I don’t know if I’m losing hair or not… I’ve always had a cowlick at my crown but it’s more noticeable now with my long hair. Too scared to cut it. I was severely vitamin d deficient so that could’ve been the culprit but I’m not sure. Keeping positive though, and if needed I will go for a transplant. Thank God for doctors.
I have the same thing. Did you find a solution?
i'm going through sudden extreme hair shedding so much so that i pull out several strands just by running through it and my bed is always surrounded by hair. Wash days are the worst where i panic so much. I also have longish curly hair so i don't brush much so it's worse. I counted and its about 110 hair a day, sometimes even more. I also have dandruff issues.the hair shedding is on all sides, especially on my sides and back. Hell my sides are almost bald :((
Same … does it get better ?!!
How's your hair now?
in this febuary i've started using creatin. and since april i have hair loss. i've stopped using creatin since june. last week my doctor said u have TE. so my question is what am i supposed to do from now on? in the meantime ferritin , b12 etc. they all in the range
Any improvements now since stopping creatine?
How's your hair now?
I thought i had this problem but then i realised my Hair was wet
Hey Trav, regarding your beard serum for growing out a beard, you used 2 ingredients castor oil and peppermint oil. But you didnt explain how much the ratio should be. Is it correct that for the serum for every 100ML castor we should mix 5ML peppermint oil? I would reallly appreciate it if u could clarify this. Thanks Trav!
5 year relationship ended, 3 months later noticed full length hairs coming out in the shower and thinning in front (behind the hairline). I'm not supposed to go bald genetically speaking so...Hopefully it's TE.
Update? Similar situation
Man I m 16 and i have going through hair shedding per day i don't lose any hair I lose like 1,2 on my pillow
And when I wash with water I lose like 4 small hairs
But when I shampoo I lose like 40

Hello Trav,
Can you talk about why hair goes gray in the 20s and what to do to prevent it? I'd be glad to hear anything scientific regarding gray hair and how to prevent it. I also wonder if certain spots on scalp becoming gray are a signal that something is wrong with your body? If you could make a video on that that would be great. If you have one already, fetch me link. Thanks in advance

Thank you, this made me feel better about my shedding.
Im confused.com. My hair was fine and stable never really used to loose hair. But i was taking targeted treatment for cancer. And now my hair has gone thin and constantly falling out. Drs say it unusual for the kind of drug. Not chemo. Not sure if it’s natural, stress, or drugs. Been off tablets over a month now and still the same. Absolutely gutted. Really affecting me. Any help ? Thanks.

I been loosing hair for years now I have been on finasteride and minoxidil for over a year with my hair loss continuing my receding hair line is getting worse I have tried all kinds of oils and vitamins not helping I also have been smoking weed everyday for 4 years and now that I think about it that kind of when my hair problems arose so now I’m on my last option I’m quitting weed maybe it was the weed this whole time I saw a couple video say that weed can cause hair problems so this is my last chance as my hair line is getting pretty bad since the hair loss treatment arnt working hopefully this is the problem but idk this hole topic is crazy and there are so many factors 🤷♂️
Yeah I thought the same thing I smoked daily for few years too, so I quit cold turkey and man my hair only got worse. I swear I developed this TE from the stress of quitting smoking. But in saying that I have been extremely stressed last few years!

Sir is there any problem if the size of ball is very small but i can see these balls on every hair.

If u are a men and u think u are balding, theres a 95% chance that u have androgenic alopecia, meaning u are balding not just loosing hair temporarely. If u are above the age of 18 I d highly advice to start finasteride ofc u gonna need to talk to ur doc first. Try to start it as soon as possible cause if u lose ground is extemely hard to get back that loss ground, so the earlier the better. Side effects are extremely rare around 1 or 2% of people who use this drug. I ve been using it for 1.5 years now and i coudnt br happier, my only regret is, wasting my time will bullshit treatments.
