Good deal! I had to do this on my 86 F- 150 4 wheel drive a time or and that is about all it wrote and now it's time for a new one. And the last time looked one up it was about 300.00 and that was a few years ago!
Yeah adjusting them works well but once you adjust them and they get sloppy again there’s really nothing else to do but replace it or rebuild it and you can’t buy rebuild kits anymore, and you’re right they are expensive, I was thinking about just buying a new one but didn’t really wanna spend the money on it right now, but I’ll probably buy one eventually. Thanks for watching.
@@Mach1bud is it an actual rebuild kit with everything or just a reseal kit because I can never find a true rebuild kit now days. If they sale the whole kit I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip. Thanks for watching.
So I have a new power steering control box from LMC it took a year and a half to get it a rebuild however I still have the same problem LMC said it should not have to be adjusted what are your thoughts
@@dominiccase6846 I’d say start looking at other possible worn out parts such as tie rod ends, pitman arm, ball joints or if it’s a two wheel drive it’d have king pins. If yours is a 78 or 79 with tilt wheel then the Ujoints in the steering column could be worn and give slop. If it really is the gearbox then it may be possible they sent you a bad one by mistake, it could happen. Hope this helps you out, good luck. Thanks for watching.
@@FastFords289 thanks I replaced all those parts The only one that causes the same issue is the rebuilt from LMC. I can actually rotate the joint above the power steering but it does not move down below the gear box which I think indicates a problem with the rebuild unit. Do you know if that is correct.
@@dominiccase6846 ok yeah, if you can move the upper joint and the pitman arm doesn’t move at the same time the upper joint then the gearbox is the problem. I’d contact them and tell them what you’ve found and have them send you another one.
@@FastFords289 thanks I'll see if I can get my money back but it took them a year and a half to get a rebuild to me last time I may have to get another steering box as soon as I put the new front springs I will attempt to adjust this power steering box but more than likely I'll just get a new one I've seen them on the internet before.
@@dominiccase6846 you’re welcome, if you can’t get your money back then you could always send it off to Bluetop they rebuild gearboxes. Good luck and I hope you get everything straightened out and works for you.
Excellent video! Very thorough so even a novice can do it. L I’ll be trying this on my 1972 convertible Mustang this week.

@@FastFords289You can most certainly buy rebuild kits. Just rebuilt mine. Jeffs Bronco Graveyard has kits for just about every classic ford truck.

When you adjust the gearbox should the front wheels be off the ground?
@@rocky2000316 no they don’t have to be, just make sure they are straight.
