Kudos for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Penonnor Baseball Babaco (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for uncovering the secret to get rid of eye floaters minus the headache. Ive heard some great things about it and my friend after a lifetime of fighting got great results with it.
I have been seeing floaters since when I was 14 years old. Only it located on the right eye, a dark spider shaped floater. Now I am 27 I see lot of them now around 5 to 6 floater. Only one of floater is darker and rest are transparent. But the good thing is it doesn't affect my vision or quality of Life, although it is still there. I have understood it and got used to it as many of eye specialist doctors said to ignore the same. Still I made an habit of visiting eye specialist doctor every year for a regular eye check up just to assure myself that every thing is fine (to listen the doctors comment) which boost up my confidence some how in work and personal life. My current eye site is -4.5 & -6. I had barage laser treatment in my left eye as doctor recommended (due to small retinal hole). It feels good to know that floaters are quite common and I am not the only one to face. I love your videos as it is explained in great detail. What you recommend should I continue to visit doctor every year or visit only If I faces any new problems ?
This is just superb, I've been looking for "eye drops for floaters in india" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Siyndrew Dumbfounded System - (do a search on google ) ? It is a great exclusive guide for discovering how to get rid of eye floaters minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my partner got great success with it.
This is glorious, I have been researching "what is the best vitamin for your eyes?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Siyndrew Dumbfounded System - (just google it ) ? It is a great one off product for discovering how to get rid of eye floaters minus the headache. Ive heard some great things about it and my friend got great success with it.
although on a nice day or quick shift from dark to light I have always seen what appears to be air molecules. thousands of tiny dots bouncing all over and very quickly. also when I close my eyes, it isnt pure black. there are millions of tiny points of light like gazing at a far off star field, and the tighter I close my eyes, the brighter they get. weird I know. still havent found out why these 2 other things occur. Each time I've asked an eye professional, I just get vague responses and annoyed attitudes. maybe they just dont know but don't want to feel dumb.
I recently had an onset of severe floaters which appeared like a flock of starlings. Fortunately I saw my local eye physician who diagnosed a detached retina in my lazy eye. I was referred to a retina specialist who repaired the damage and saved my eyesight. The inhouse procedure was scary, but totally effective. God bless Dr Adderman of Eye Health Northwest in Portland Oregon. Everyone should view this video so please share with all your friends.
They wern t floaters when we were children. Not everyone but some of us while in vitro, somehow capture some of our mothers cells ( I think, blood ireeercorrety,) these cells will be with us forever. At my age ( old) I m happy to have my mother s cells. You can ignore them or embrace them but they are there to stay.
Hi Knott, I talked to my doctor about that. He said that there was a little stem that held the iris in place before we were born. The stem mostly dissolves, and leaves those little floaters behind. Then they settle and disappear. It is good to know other people have such memories.
Here’s your laugh for the day!! My brother had to have surgery on a detached retina and my Mother who was 94 at the time, was telling all her friends that he had to have surgery on a “detached rectum”!!!! Wrong word Mom!!😂😂😂
Thanks for making me laugh, that's hilarious! My Mom tends to say the same types of things. One day a friend of hers asked why she always referred to me as "meatloaf" whenever she would call for me. (Thinking of course, that it was a nickname.) I happened to overhear their conversation and realized after a few seconds that what the neighbor lady was hearing as "meatloaf" was the Spanish word "mijo." (pronounced "mee ho") Which means son.
Hello doctor! I'm an ophthalmologist myself, from Brazil, and have just found your channel here on RUclips. Congratulations! You are such a great communicator and show deep knowledge of your field! 👏👏👏
I have 3 small floaters in each eye and i saw a bright light flash in my eye. I when to the eye Dr, They didn't see no tears in my eye , I have cataracts & floaters in both eyes. I enjoy learning and watching your shows. You are helping me. And thank you for it and i appreciate very much. Keep doing the good work you are doing. Thank you.
I had cataracts in my 2 eyes at the age of 40 years old. It affected my visions. Doc said it was due to my immunosuppression drugs. After the op, I had floaters and on some days they swirled so fast I had to rest or take a seat because it was like hairs bugging my eyes. Now I am 60 years old. Living with these floaters for 20 years. I had 2 lasers done to my lens and floaters increased in numbers. Most importantly is I can see clearly with or without floaters. Praise God for that.
I used to have problems with eye floaters myself. I did find treatment though. If you want access to some great treatment options then go here now: MootEye.xyz
I had "shooting stars" in my left eye for months. I saw white pin-point dots shooting from left to right in my left eye. Very long story short, I had a clot in my left carotid artery. The "stars" were particles being shed from the clot. I was in surgery 4 hours after it was discovered. Don't ignore "shooting stars"!!
Check with your DR Itscared the crap out of me when it happened to me Im 64 keep up with your eye appointments I had a vitreous detatchment and it came on all the sudden Scary
My husband had the lasix procedure done during the summer with wonderful outcomes. His floaters clumped together and they were taken care of. Some small floaters were too close to the retina so were not done. His was very happy with the outcome. Your presentation was wonderful. Thanks for sharing the info.
Ive had floaters since I was small child. My vision is totally fine regardless. I used to think they were small creatures inside my eyes. I also for a while I used to call them "heat waves" and my mom was seriously concerned that I was constantly talking about seeing heat waves.
sir i m depressed and uncomfortable because of increased floaters 😢😢floaters are covering all my vision field there are too many floaters.. should i go for vitrectomy surgery? can you help me. i m from india?
Sorry to hear your depressed and uncomfortable. Floaters can be frustrating. I have them too. You will need to consult a local ophthalmologist. Be sure to express your concerns with them and after a thorough examination your doctor should discuss your treatment options with you. If you are having new floaters and have not seen a doctor yet, you need to get in.
@@DoctorEyeHealth hello doctor i have had floaters fr years now n nva understood wat thy really are. Can thy b treated cz i have had people say it got worse after they had been operated on. Mine are annoying m now
Oops. Sorry. I misread your comment. You said "organism". I thought you said something else. That would be kinda kinky to have one of "those" in your eye.
I've been having the camera flash in the corners of my eyes for about a month now. Didn't think much of it until it started happening more frequently. Going in this Friday to see my eye doc about it. 😕 Thank you for your passion surrounding eye health. I think you really do help push others to care more about their eyes too.
I've been through the full spectrum of floaters. Born in 1948, severely near sighted with a correction of -13.5, corrected with Lasik in 1999. I've got mono vision now, right eye for distance left eye for reading, and it works well. I use Brimonidine Tartrate in both eyes for pressure control. Have had floaters since as far back as I can remember and never payed to much attention to them, thought they were normal. When I was in my mid 50's, looked at the side of a white building after seeing flashes in my left eye and saw lots of new small round floaters. I call my eye care Dr. and was told to go to the nearest emergency hospital. When I arrived and told them of my symptoms, the Dr.s looked confused, looked at my eyes, could not find anything to be concerned about and told me to make an appointment with my eye Dr. the next day. Went to the eye Dr. at the HMO I belong to and talked to three different Dr.s before a specialist ask me about the flashes which all the rest had no idea what I was talking about. The round floaters were red blood cells. The vitreous had started to curl on the edges and torn thru a blood vessel, cause the flashes and released the blood. I was told that the blood cells would be absorbed and go away, but there is part of the vitreous that still floats around in there and can be like looking thru a shower curtain when it gets in front of focal point. I have that condition monitored twice a year. About six months after the left eye curled, the right eye did the same thing. Both have remained stable since first happening. When I ask about remedies and was told about the fluid change, I decided my eyes would have to get a whole lot worse before that could happen.
They arn t floaters as a child and forever you will have cells of your mother s blood. Not everyone has them. Floaters are very different. Yours are round, translucent and have a nucleus. Floaters are black, weirdly shaped and creepy.
This is the best video for me Less stress Went yesterday to my retinal Dr but he was good but after this video not so scared I have a vitreous D and he said Im PRN for now I ll share to my kids Thank You
Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it’s alright, you are forgiven.
I had sudden floaters and flashes of light. I was afraid that I had a Retinal Detachment, it was not a detached retina it was a Posterior Vitreous Detachment. That was a month ago, I am still having floaters but they are not bothering me as much as they were. This is great information.
I remember my first floater when I was in middle school looking at the projector screen one day and seeing this blob floating around randomly. Drove me crazy for the rest of my school days. Now I have a bunch more. One thing I have found helpful is getting a pair of rose colored sun glasses that I wear around even when I'm not in the sun. They help blend them out.
My floaters : I call them "small fruits flies" and they begun after clear cataracts and eyes surgery because I had flaps post surgery. Sometimes, I forget completely that I have some. But since last Friday! I have 2 new "friends" in my eye. So, I will take an appointment to check again!! As a old nurse, I find that your explanations are clear for people who are not nurse or doctor!! Bravo!
When I was 20 I had bi-lateral cataracts and bi-lateral retinal detachments/tears. I’ve been plagued everyday since with floaters ever since, but had no prior symptoms of a detachment/tear. My detachment was repaired with a scleral buckle, and the tear by vitrectomy. It was a particularly scary time as I had lost my sight completely due to the cataracts in a matter of weeks, and the detachment/tear wasn’t found until the cataracts had been fixed. I actually remember waking up after having my first cataract removed and being able to see, but it 2 like I was looking through as fisheye lens. All good now, and with regular checkups, hopefully I’ll keep my eyesight. Great and informative video 😄
@Doctor Eye Health Due to my age (and the NHS in the UK), my Doctor decided that a multifocal lens would give me the best quality. While it usually reduces the need for glasses, I currently need varifocals with the prescriptions between 1.00 and 0.75, though over time that will increase. I am now always alert for new floaters, just incase the retina may have torn/detached again. Out of the multiple procedure, the scleral buckle definitely caused the most trauma. All caused from trauma as a result of my severe atopic eczema
I had retinal detachment susurgery. 6 months later my vision is not good. I suffer the effects of a damaged macula ( blurry central vision). Doctors say that my retina and macula look great but dont know why vision is so bad. They say my eye is still healing after 6 months and it could take years. Question to you is did you have to wait years?
Hi here HELP BUY EYE DROPS in close eyes push it around side to side lightly floaters look BIG but not a pin head ? do a lot i had them , they will go away in time when eyes clean in your sleep , hope this helps Kim
Thank you for this video it has allayed my fears . However I will double check with my eye doctor as it has been a while since my last appointment and this has made me realise the value of great eyesight.
After spending two days trying to brush the things away, I realized they must be IN the eye. This was great information. Now I know what's happening and will keep careful track of them.
TAKE NOTE - Pause this video is good advice. Trust me. In 2012 I had flashes of light and slight blurring of vision and increase in floaters. I rang doc for appointment and was immediately referred to local eye hospital. Turned out to be early stages of detached retina. I had surgery within 12 hours of on set of symptoms and after a pretty miserable 3 weeks laid on my right side today I have near perfect vision. Another patient I met in hospital had waited 2 weeks before seeking advice and had lost all sight in that eye permanently.
That scares me! That's why I went to the top Doc at the Hershey Hospital Ophthalmology department but he said I was fine but never dilated my eyes like the optometrist did. What to do what to do. Thank you for replying.
I have had floaters for about 3 years . I had strobe lights going off in my eye at one time . An eye exam did not show any damage to the retina but i have regular follow ups. Here's the thing , I have been taking oral collagen for about 1 year and I have noticed a significant reduction in the darkness and visibility of the floaters . This may be the natural history of floaters but I have not had any new floaters and no flashing lights . I think the potential benefit of oral collagen outways the lack of evidence that it could be treatment that is beneficial in other ways as well.
One week before giving birth to my son, I got a migraine aura that made me blind in both eyes for about 20 minutes. I had always had a few minor floaters but a week or so after the birth, some really quite big floaters "downloaded". I was horrified, and my family doctor didn't even know what they were. This was early 1980s. I did find an optician who explained them to me. I'm 70 now and get regular eye checks and they are OK for now. But it always interested me if the migraine was linked in some way to the floaters. Great videos. Thank goodness for the internet.
Interesting, I had aura migraine two times in 2021 for the first time in my life, then two times In 2022 when I've developed a floater in my left eye, I'm only in my 30s.
It was a relief for me to stumble into this video.Iam 62 years old ,i am starting to see mosquietos floating in my eye ball.I didnt know what it was i thought it was the result of high blood pressure .I was worried ,but now iam releived by learning it is a normal symptom of my age ,and it is called floaters.Thank you your the best thanks.
Thank you so much for this information. I had that problem and some times come back. Since i am 60 ,now I can understand what is my problem. Well done Dr.
Well u deserve a lot of credit for letting us know about floaters more accurately and removing doubts from our mind...please keep on doing such videos👏👏
Dr Joseph, you explain eye problems very clearly. Thank you for helping those of us who are older and developing dry eye, cataracts etc.. By the way, you look very young to be a ophthalmologist, you look like a teenager!
I contracted floaters at age 65, rather suddenly...saw my doctor proto. No serious problems...she, like, you explained how and why. Keep an eye [no pun intended] on this condition by regular checkups. Now aged 76. Thank you for your down-to-earth diagnostic explanations!
I’ve had them since childhood. They are real bad ( many many more ) now at 50. They don’t “ go downward” as you described. The shapes I saw at 10, I still see now.
Thank you for this informative video. I've had floaters since my 30's, and my eye doctor told me it was normal, and not a problem as long as it didn't get worse, not to worry. But you gave me more information that really helped me understand what is happening inside my eyes. Thanks! btw, They never were a problem, and as years went by, I've noticed them less and less. You explained how that happens, and I'm glad to know that.
I have always been short sighted. When I was about 60 I had cataracts removed which caused a retinal detachment in my one eye which instantly blinded me in that eye. Thanks to a Dr. at St. Michaels hospital in Toronto, he was able to reattach the retina, drain the natural fluids and replace it with an artificial fluid. This gave me back my sight in the eye but temporarily caused double vision for a number of months. My body has now adjusted to the eye repair and I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes and NO floaters in the repaired eye. I am so pleased with the final results of these two procedures.
@@darrahlane5975 my suspicion is that it was Dr Alan Berger. He is one of the best in Toronto area. But if it was not him I recommend him, i heard only good things.
I've had floaters in my eyes for as long as I can remember, certainly during my childhood. But then again, my eyes are not the best, -6 in one, about -5 in the other, massive astigmatism, in both and required corrective surgery for a squint when I was about 8.
Use the Bates Method to cure your eyesight. Full book (not the shorter version) by Dr Bates (1900's) and Dr Mercola has a training course to improve eyesight also (he used the Bates Method to fix his eye sight).
I can't remember not having them & am extremely short-sighted. I'm mid 50s now & definately had them from infant school at least. Just a minor distraction.
I've had this since I was a teenager! I always will follow it but it runs off. I'll bring it back looking up real quick. It does look like Microorganisms.
Me too. One is shaped like a question mark on it's side. I have more now and they can be annoying but having the fluid changed in a car is okay with me... But not in me eye!!
I'm 19 at the moment and had recently experienced a little spec of a floater. I am near sighted. However, I don't think experiencing it at a young age is normal. I'm getting myself checked out tomorrow. Thank you for informing me it made me feel better.
i started to get spots around 30 years old. I told the dr about them and they said floaters. If i look at one point they don't float they stay in one place and if i look at the spot it becomes more clear and takes time to focus onto it. . now the only way it floats is if i look side to side. Then it goes with the field of site. I'm now 41 almost 42 and they are still there and in the same places they always been.
I do have intermittent floaters and will be having an ophthalmology exam January 2019. I' be sure to review your video ahead of time. Glad my appointment isn't too far off. Thanks Dr. Eye Health. 11/2018
I had macular degeneration at 47 yrs old , I had 12 injections of invastin . Now it is healed , no activity but scarring . Also my Opthamalogist called it a different form because of my age when it started . He asked what measures am I doing to take care of myself , my church members we’re praying for me and I took eye vitamins , and the injections .
I have read so many articles, papers and consulted various doctors. And you have just explained everything in such a simpler way and in such a short amount of time. Good research and presentation skill.
This may sound odd... while I don't like my floaters, I have embraced them. I use them to 'virtually' smack people when they tick me off :) Thanks for the info, I learned more about them today!
That is one of the best comments EVER! Thank you :-) I will be trying the same thing with my floaters next time...I imagine people will wonder why my eyes are moving all over lol
This is so true. I had retinal detachment months ago and this is the what I see. Have your eyes checked immediately! Very informative ❤️ from the Philippines
@UCUU6_Al_KtCo_ONelXyKJdw if I were you I will seek for 2nd opinion. After I saw those floaters and flashes of lights I had an emergency surgery to prevent me from going blind. Luckily my eyes were saved.

My husband had a very sudden episode of floaters in one eye. He shortly after the floaters appeared he told his eye doctor and she didn’t change her treatment plan or re-examine him. That Saturday he developed a loss in his visual Field and we had to rush him to an eye doctor on call. His retina had started to detach. He has a permanent defect now in his visual field.
Thank you for this! I have about the same prescription as you (-7.5) and developed floaters really early as well-like late 20s! I had surgery to fix my vision years ago in my 20s, so maybe that affected it as well? My corneas were too thin for LASIK so they implanted permanent contact lenses. I had astigmatism as well. Now I see fantastic (even 10+ years later) and only suffer sensitivity to light, decreased quality of night vision and the floaters sometimes. And migraines with auras but that’s not related to the surgery. It changed my life being liberated from glasses and contacts! I love not being legally blind anymore. Thank you for your videos!!!!!!
Thank you for the information . What is the best eye drops. Why do we have to wear. Eye glasses after cataract surgery, it doesn't make sense. I'll look for your answers. Thank you.
I’ve never had problems with my eye all my life but now I’m hitting 41, the last couple of months I’ve had floaters. They started as a few small worm like structures in my vision when I looked at the sky......now I’m even seeing them indoors too. I saw a video of someone saying they went blind after having floaters. I panicked. Now I’m seeing videos of people saying they’re common and normal. 🤷♂️

I've had floaters since I was in my 20s and yes, I am near sighted. I recently went in to my Ophthalmologist due to the flashes of light in my peripheral vision. He told me pretty much what you have said in this video and in my case, a treatment for these pesky little floaters is not recommended. It would be great if someone discovered a way to get rid of them. I see mine continually unless they float over my blind spot ... and that only happens for a few seconds.
Well I'm glad you got seen and everything is O.K.! Hopefully they dissolve or your brain tunes them out, but for sure if something new comes out I will make a new video right away. Otherwise thanks for sharing.
Hello, you also got floaters and flashing light? Did the doctor tell you about your retina? if it's weak or torn or something like that? Cause that's what Im scared of. I got severe myopia, -16. I could have an eye check up on April, it's taking so long because of insurance renewal. So Im just googling and watching videos for now
whatever he's saying take it very very seriously because he cannot be any more clearer and right. I am nearsighted and I got retinal detachment on my left eye after seeing a lot of floaters and after you get a retinal detachment there are very very high chances of not getting your vision fully restored. It's been over one year and after 6 surgeries they still cannot keep my retina attached. Make sure you see a few GOOD opthamologists because if you don't you will regret not seeing one for the rest of your life. P.S - I am 31 years old. You don't have to be old to get a retinal detachment.
Great Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Franaar Spectacular Look Formula (probably on Google)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for curing eye floaters without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend finally got amazing success with it.
I have been to many eye specialists. You have explained floaters better than any of those doctors. I am very nearsighted. I am around a -11. I guess without correction I am almost legally blind. About 8 years ago I started with the vitreous lining detaching, I had flashes and lightening bolts. I saw a specialist, he said we needed to monitor it every 6 months. I had floaters before they incident; but, they become much worse. Then, the same thing occurred in my other eye. In that eye, the ophthalmologist actually used a laser to tack down the vitreous to prevent a retinal tear. I wish I wouldn't have had it done. After the procedure, I had a bad situation. For two days after the procedure, I saw a purplish color in my vision in that eye. And, it seemed like my eyes did not focus right in working together. My depth perception was off in that eye. I also started to experience some double vision, especially in the morning. I had to concentrate to focus my vision. That improves after about an hour every morning. Doctors seem to not understand what is going on with this situation. I had cataracts in both eyes. I had cataract surgery with the laser assist in both eyes. I understand that is basically what is done in Lasik surgery to correct vision. Warnings are now being put out about Lasik surgery (you also put a warning out). Again, the warnings are too late for me, I have more vision issues after this cataract surgery. Have you done a video on this laser cataract surgery vs. traditional cataract surgery? If not, you should. Again, I wish I had more information before I did this cataract surgery. I have read about these ophthalmologists that does these laser procedures. I live in Florida, can you recommend a good ophthalmologist that does this laser procedure to zap these floaters. I know there is one in California that is considered the best at this; but, that is too far for me to travel.
I'm very near sighted (-15 and -9) and had floaters as an early teen without realizing it. I thought everyone had them because I only noticed them when sitting in the sun. I hadn't been to an eye doctor for 3 years or so because we went to live in abroad in a small town and lived a bit far from the nearest optician. Anyway, we came back to Canada for the summer when I was 14 and thankfully my optometrist noticed and sent me to an ophthalmologist. They found a few tears in my retina and so I had laser surgery in both eyes and 16 years later I'm floater free but I do get flashes sometimes. I'm so grateful that I'm still sighted! Despite all of that, it wasn't until more recently that I learned more about what happened to me and came to the realization that those floaters went away after the surgery. It's super important to be informed, and especially important to inform younger kids and teens who are more at risk of what they should look out for, because if it weren't for the optometrist, I probably would not have realized they were getting worse or that anything was wrong with my vision until it was too late!
When I lived in Singapore I started to see these floaters when I was looking outside from a darker area into the light of bright sunlight. I went to a specialist and the Doctor told me that a retina detachment might be possible and to be careful and any flashes should be taken very seriously. I was treated and now 10 years later I am good without floaters or flashes. I get checked regularly. A great video and very well presented.
I had lost the sight in my right eye do to what I call an eye stroke, something stopped the blood to to optic nerve of that eye. Then a couple of years later I started seeing the floaters. Near blind panic ensued. Then my ophthalmologist explained what was happening. So panic went down a notch or two. The floaters really can be a nuisance while driving and I have to clear them often. I really like the way you explained it.
I have them. Started earlier this year after dealing with some ocular migraines. I saw my eye doctor a few times this year, and he verified there was no retinal tears, etc. Still, it was (is) disconcerting. I'm not totally used to them, but I don't notice them quite as much as I did earlier this year. Actually, your video gave me some reassurance.
I mentioned flashing tecnicolor floaters to my opthamalogist at yearly checkup after catarct surgery. She called it ocular migraine. 1st. time I've heard that term. no PAIN involved. I've since been refered to P.C.P. who ordered Ecohocardiogram of heart, MRI of brain, CT scan of carotid arteries. All have been accomplished with mostly benign results. I'm 80. Think I'll outlast this too.Keep on truckin!
Yes I had vitriol detachments and in one eye a retinal tear that appeared like seaweed swirling around. It was actually blood in my eye. My eye surgeon used a laser to cauterize the tear.
Zhao Sinan : vitriol detachment is fairly common and complications such as retinal tears and Retinal detachments are treatable if caught early on during the process. In my case the only residual effect is floaters. However I did eventually need cataract surgery which is amazing. Implantable interocular lenses completely eliminated my need for glasses. I now have 2020 vision.
oh so that's what those are, I thought it was crud particles on the surface of my eye and it meant i needed to use an eye solution to clean them. So their inside my eyeball. dang!
I've had them since my teens as I was very nearsighted from 4th grade on. They became very distressing and caused tremendous anxiety every time I went out in the sun. In my 30s, my othmo counseled me on it and said they were just part of life and just relax, they come and they go. I'd love to get it fixed but I've let go of the angst over them.
Everyone, I know, has floaters. I had a retinal tear and I did experience that camera flash. I really believed someone was taking my picture. But, then, I realized I had a retinal tear. I called my PCP immediately; and, within 12 hours I was getting laser surgery. I went to the ophthalmologist for what seemed to be a year or better getting more and more laser treatments. I reclaimed my 20/20 vision in both eyes. But, I had many floaters for years. Now, I have only one floater in my unaffected eye. None in my effected eye. Go figure. So, I feel very fortunate. It is so important that if you do, indeed, see flashes in the outer corners of your eyes that you act immediately! Your vision is at stake. Thanx Dr. Allen for this very well done educational video.
I see thousands of tiny dots. Like a fuzzy old television. Every ophthalmologist I've told about it, brush it off. But I'm 30 and have had it since I could remember.

"As you get older" dog I've had those since I was a child. I thought they were germs at first, then I assumed they were just dust on the surface of my eye until just now.
So crazy reading all these comments ... I don’t feel so strange and alone any more bahahah. So glad we all thought we had some special microscopic vision powers - in college during my evo/devo (evolutionary development classes) my professor actually went over this phenomena briefly and discussed that these floating entities are actually remnants of arterial biological materials that typically disintegrate as the embryo develops and as the fetus develops fully functional eyes - the floaters sometimes remain in the vitreous fluid where arterial bodies once fed the area- sometimes they don’t always entirely dissolve on their own and you’re left with these floating bodies and are typically harmless. if you’ve had them your entire life it’s most likely it’s due to the natural changes during embryonic development that gave you your fully functioning adult eyes. - at least that’s what my professor had told us. I looked up a couple other articles which also discussed this process and the entities presence. These little dudes are benign for the most part unless you develop larger ones as you age that weren’t present previously. pretty interesting- I didn’t really divulge the specifics in scientific detail but that’s the gist of it
Thanks for the videos. I find it reassuring to hear your descriptions of these conditions, particularly as a doctor in the field who has experienced them personally. Over the last several years I've developed floaters and aura without headache. The scary stuff has been ruled out so just learning to live with it. Thanks again for the videos.
It’s important to explicitly say that retina tears can lead to permanent vision loss almost instantly, so it’s nothing to take lightly. As soon as you see a large amount of floaters, or start seeing lights flashing inside your eye, head to see a retina specialist ASAP. No joke. A matter of hours could make all the difference in terms of keeping or losing your eyesight permanently.
Three years ago I noticed flashing lights while driving home one night. No emergency vehicle following me and the street lights weren't malfunctioning. Then when I got home, I started to see brown-colored rodents (rabbits?!) moving along the baseboards, except my dog wasn't paying them any mind. Long story short, I had some MEGA floaters due to a vitreal detachment. All this time later, the floaters haven't gone away completely, but they're better (and my dog has promised to let me know if there are for real any rats or rabbits loose in the house).
Those floaters can really make you think something is moving in the house. For me it's slightly higher than level. Like a bird is flying past me. It's actually caused me to jump a few times. Or duck out of the way. Very annoying. the eye doctor foun nothing wrong with the retina. Thank god. Getting old (60) is no fun.
I would love to hear about ocular migraine from a professional. I have only ever had them three times, but they are both fascinating and scary at the same time.
me: "Can you fix the floaters?" Every doctor I've ever spoken to about this: "Tough luck son, deal with it." me: "Well, the fella that comes up with a fix for this bullshit problem is gunna be a trillionaire."
@@DoctorEyeHealth I am 67 and have had floaters for 20 years. Mine look as if someone took a net bag and and stretched it over my eye. They wave and undulate to distraction especially looking at lights when I can actually play games with them. I have enough ocd to want to reach inside my eyes and pull the strands out. I can see, but they encompass my entire eye with other long corkscrew things. Would I possibly be a candidate for laser. I am extremely far sighted if that matters and have amblyopia in my right one.
I've also had floaters for as long as I can remember. Additionally, I had great vision when I was younger, 20/12 or probably better, it was never officially checked. The floaters are still there and my vision has only gotten worse as I've gotten older. It's down to around 20/30, which most people laugh at. But for me it's been a pretty significant change versus the supernatural vision I once had. I have different types of floaters, mostly just dots with circles inside of them. But some look like worms with circles inside of them or long strings of circles (I'm "looking" at them now). I did finally have my eyes checked a few years ago and the dr. didn't seem concerned about my degrading vision or my floaters. It's been a while now, so I should probably have my vision checked again to see if it has continued to worsen. I'm older than 50, so I guess this is part of aging. But I've always wondered about all of the floaters that I have.
Thank you for this video. I been swiping away those bugs. 🤦🏻♀️ My daughter thought i was loosing my mind. Lol. My stepdad said it was floaters and my eye doctor said they were ok. Lol
Very informative video, having recently recovered from retinal detachment surgery it is always interesting to see and hear more information on it. I’m 21 and had a retinal detachment, so you don’t have to be old to have it. Actually it was just a couple months before that I even heard about retinol the Touchman for the first time so as soon as I started having symptoms I went immediately to the ophthalmologist. I had a vitrecto and then had silicone oil in Mayeye for five months and then the oil was removed. He says in the video that they replace the Trias humor with another fluid but really it’s just the fluid from your eye called aqueous humor that fills the cavity. I kind of had an interesting case because I am amblyopic in my left die and my right eye suffered the detachment. I’m just here to tell you that you do not have to be old to have a retinal detachment and to make sure that you get your eyes checked regularly, it’s really no joke.
Wow, I just had a tear and I am 4 weeks after surgery. I hope they don’t have to change my oil in my eye. Surgery at Duke Hospital. I got a gas bubble, clamp, and fluid replacement. How are you doing now?
@@225rip I'm working and living a pretty normal life now, not without some level of difficulty though. I have little central vision, as the detachment disturbed the macula and caused CMO to form. Don't worry, you will be back to normal, just be patient.
@@BaconBandage Thanks for getting back. When I went in I just had a curtain about 15% of right eye. After 3 day I had no vision at all. Not sure if anything with the macula occurred. I go back in 2 weeks for check up. I know I have 85% gas, not sure if anything else was added. I do have very blurred vision but is getting a bit better each day. I am 69 and very athletic but his put me in a humble state. LOL

DUDE HELP ME IM 10 AND IM SEEING EYE FLOATERS AND LIGHTS IM CRYING :(((
I have been seeing floaters since when I was 14 years old.

When I was a kid, I thought that I have a super power of seeing microorganisms by my naked eye...
Me too! But I was looking at the entoptic phenomenon.
SAME!
although on a nice day or quick shift from dark to light I have always seen what appears to be air molecules. thousands of tiny dots bouncing all over and very quickly. also when I close my eyes, it isnt pure black. there are millions of tiny points of light like gazing at a far off star field, and the tighter I close my eyes, the brighter they get. weird I know. still havent found out why these 2 other things occur. Each time I've asked an eye professional, I just get vague responses and annoyed attitudes. maybe they just dont know but don't want to feel dumb.
Ha! Me too! Mine were always golden and would move around and then disappear.
I thought the same thing. Glad that I got rid of them.
Some of my earliest childhood memories are watching floaters whenever I looked at the blue sky.
Me too! I used to stare at spots while walking home from school.
Same
Likely NOT floaters. More likely entoptic phenomenon. Look it up!
Hi Knott,
I talked to my doctor about that. He said that there was a little stem
that held the iris in place before we were born. The stem mostly
dissolves, and leaves those little floaters behind.
(Thinking of course, that it was a nickname.) I happened to overhear their conversation and realized after a few seconds that what the neighbor lady was hearing as "meatloaf" was the Spanish word "mijo." (pronounced "mee ho") Which means son.
rvalens2 too funny!!!
Thanks. When I realized the neighbor's mistake I laughed so hard my sides hurt.
Sounds exactly like my mum 😂
"Destroyed him?"..... "Yeah, darn well rectum."

You sounds like a little crybaby bitch. Stop the complaining, its a bad look
How old you have been then?
60 or older? I had them since I was 20 - yet my eyesight is still top. This video is making me worried...

I also for a while I used to call them "heat waves"
and my mom was seriously concerned that I was constantly talking about seeing heat waves.
Question of the Day: Do you have floaters in your vision? Do you have an interesting story about floaters? Share here in the comment section.
sir i m depressed and uncomfortable because of increased floaters 😢😢floaters are covering all my vision field there are too many floaters.. should i go for vitrectomy surgery? can you help me. i m from india?
Sorry to hear your depressed and uncomfortable. Floaters can be frustrating. I have them too. You will need to consult a local ophthalmologist. Be sure to express your concerns with them and after a thorough examination your doctor should discuss your treatment options with you. If you are having new floaters and have not seen a doctor yet, you need to get in.

Going in this Friday to see my eye doc about it. 😕 Thank you for your passion surrounding eye health. I think you really do help push others to care more about their eyes too.
I also had floaters and flashes of light at the corner of eyes...
@@gopikadas3558 how are the flashes now
؟؟؟
Hello I know its been 3 years but was the -13.5 for both eyes combined or one. I was told they only went up to -10 for lasik.
My floaters weren't bothering me until i watched this!

Happy to hear your doing better Steve! Did you have a really high prescription or trauma? Your story is pretty atypical for 20 years.
Good luck, Steve..that must have been bloomin' scary...our eyes are so precious..
Oh, dear, if it weren't for my floaters, I'd be all alone.

I'm gonna try that because I have similar symptoms but perfect retina and cornea.
I hate those strobe lights but it goes away anyway after an hour or 2 so i just tolerate them. I'll try the oral collagen.

Thank you for this informative video. I've had floaters since my 30's, and my eye doctor told me it was normal, and not a problem as long as it didn't get worse, not to worry. But you gave me more information that really helped me understand what is happening inside my eyes. Thanks!

I am so pleased with the final results of these two procedures.

understand. Appreciate these valuable presentations thank you!!
I'm 19 at the moment and had recently experienced a little spec of a floater. I am near sighted. However, I don't think experiencing it at a young age is normal. I'm getting myself checked out tomorrow.
Thank you for informing me it made me feel better.
Do you still have them?
give us an update
i started to get spots around 30 years old.
Excellent video! Loved the straight forward info. Nothing better than a video that cuts to the chase. 👍🏽
Very helpful video thx
I do have intermittent floaters and will be having an ophthalmology exam January 2019. I' be sure to review your video ahead of time. Glad my appointment isn't too far off. Thanks Dr. Eye Health. 11/2018
Happy to help Patrick. Glad to hear you have an exam scheduled. Are there any other eye health topics you would like to know more about?
@@DoctorEyeHealth Actually I am doing daily eye exercises; any you could suggest? Thanks.
A couple years ago I thought I had worms in my eyes, and I kept poking my eye thinking I would get the worm out.

I have read so many articles, papers and consulted various doctors. And you have just explained everything in such a simpler way and in such a short amount of time. Good research and presentation skill.
Thanks for Watching Hammad. Any other topics you would like me to cover?
@@DoctorEyeHealth In fact I would like to listen to your video on "Mayopic Eyes", and "Weak retina walls and its solution". Thanks in advance.
You are an awesome doc, may Allah reward you in this life and in the hereafter for your effort in helping humanity, ameen.

This is so true. I had retinal detachment months ago and this is the what I see. Have your eyes checked immediately! Very informative ❤️ from the Philippines

My husband had a very sudden episode of floaters in one eye. He shortly after the floaters appeared he told his eye doctor and she didn’t change her treatment plan or re-examine him. That Saturday he developed a loss in his visual
Field and we had to rush him to an eye doctor on call.
I also had Lasik 2 yrs ago and few months after that I developed floaters in both eyes ...I believe it is because of the surgery for sure

So Im just googling and watching videos for now
Ok
Ok
I’ve been seeing them for a few weeks I figured it wasn’t serious but I’ll call my doctor thanks for the great video!
whatever he's saying take it very very seriously because he cannot be any more clearer and right.
Thanks for sharing Rock. Sorry to hear about the retinal detachment. It's true, a retinal detachment can occur at any age.
Wishing you the best
-Joe
I’ve had them all my life, including childhood
Great Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Franaar Spectacular Look Formula (probably on Google)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for curing eye floaters without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend finally got amazing success with it.
These things are annoying but just keep eye drops in if you have dry eyes and keep sunglasses on in bright lighting. Protect them as much as possible.
Which surgery you have gone through?
Vitrectomy?
When I lived in Singapore I started to see these floaters when I was looking outside from a darker area into the light of bright sunlight. I went to a specialist and the Doctor told me that a retina detachment might be possible and to be careful and any flashes should be taken very seriously. I was treated and now 10 years later I am good without floaters or flashes. I get checked regularly. A great video and very well presented.
Happy to hear everything turned out well for you.
How were you treated
The same for me when I go out, I see floaters

80 and going strong. Awesome! I'm almost 40, so hopefully I can say the same in 40 odd years.
First time I found this much information from anyone, including my eye Dr
Yes I had vitriol detachments and in one eye a retinal tear that appeared like seaweed swirling around. It was actually blood in my eye. My eye surgeon used a laser to cauterize the tear.
Do you have a normal vision after the surgery?
Zhao Sinan : vitriol detachment is fairly common and complications such as retinal tears and Retinal detachments are treatable if caught early on during the process. In my case the only residual effect is floaters. However I did eventually need cataract surgery which is amazing. Implantable interocular lenses completely eliminated my need for glasses. I now have 2020 vision.
@@randsipe224 it’s amazing how good the surgeries are just get a good doctor and you’ll be a ok
Spot on! Near sighted, floaters early in life. Cataracts, and teas in retina. Six surgeries in two years, all good so far.

oh so that's what those are, I thought it was crud particles on the surface of my eye and it meant i needed to use an eye solution to clean them.
Same issue, but have worn glasses since I was in the 3rd grade.

Have you had a surgery for treatment. Please tell
I would love to hear about ocular migraine from a professional. I have only ever had them three times, but they are both fascinating and scary at the same time.

Every doctor I've ever spoken to about this: "Tough luck son, deal with it."

Yep...but then the pharma company might assassinate that person and steal the patent.
Im 12 and i have them bad and they are always like sorry we cant do anything abut it u have to deal with it like ughh
Well, you get used to them. Sometimes I forget they exist lol. But when I remember, they are annoying tbh.
Take MSM liquid. Floaters are a brake down of protein in the eye nothing else. The doctor above dont know what hes talking about
I've also had floaters for as long as I can remember.
Brian Altschul I'm kinda in the same boat!
This video is really well-made, very informative! Thank you, Doc.
Hey thanks Charles! This was my second video!
