I love how Opie always says he doesn’t know anything about Anthony or his life. But then he says “I know Anthony’s broke.”
It's ridiculous for Opie to say Jim Norton was not good on the show. I've heard O&A shows from the 90's and they are not that great. Jim Norton joining the show is what made it legendary.
Not to mention the world of comedians he opened them up to.
Jim and Ant had good chemistry. Ope might've felt a little left out or jelly
Besides searching O&A and either a guest or a specific thing, like the mayor is dead or sex for Sam; there are two O&A things I will see pop up in my RUclips all the time.
1) laugh compilations, usually Jim Norton.
2) NOpie shows
That annoys me every time he says it it’s insane
Jim was funny sometimes but it got real cringe when he'd go entire episodes in uncle Paul character or some other pedo tier jokes.
I have this ongoing daydream where Patrice pulled out of his stroke coma, ends up losing some LBS Where he became less pessimistic like he was already doing, and then takes over as the 3rd on the Anthony and Jim with Patrice show.
Anthony has discussed the contracts many times. They had a clause. They got paid the same, or within a few dollars. Opie didn't hold out for anything other then to pretend to be HooHoo.
Opie is insane. Really, just like his Mom.

Opie got to a point where he would just fade into the back and let the comedians keep the show going. When Opie was actually interested in the show, and actually having fun, the show was much better. Jim would also do the same thing, but I don't know if there was some dynamic going on in the room.
I always think of the ray Liotta interview where ray's like "is he sick?" Cuz opie was just there. He seems more delusional than Howard was when they used to shit on him for having lost the plot
@@TheJrl420He thought people were listening for him and his amazing insight. I actually appreciate Opie on the show. He was great at starting shit and making things uncomfortable. He did try to keep things moving if he wasn’t the one slowing it down. I like that he took calls because that’s also part of the show sometimes.
But he was just such a phony douche that wasn’t genuine.

Opie was a communications major at Geneseo - and as a fellow Geneseo grad we all made fun of the communications majors.
I thought O&A shared the same agent , so the company would deal with him & O&A would haggle & then agree . The signing of the deal was always a problem because Ant said lots of times " i've signed but we`re waiting on opie " .
Opie gets into that in the full video and blames the agent for stabbing him in the back.

I do think O & A was bigger than Howard right when they got on CBS Radio and they would do the walk over to XM. Mainly cause of Patrice, those shows were the best
That's a good point. Between terrestrial and satellite they may have had more listeners during that run.
They also had Canadians. I swear at one point they had some what an idea of the numbers. They said on air that Howard's CBS crowd did not follow in the satellite.
They had hit 30 markets, and Howard had around 200,000 satellite hits while they were nearly a million.
They were never bigger than Howard. Better maybe but not more popular.

@Slippindisc Patrice at the beginning was a racist ass, but towards the end he was getting into Alex Jones and conspiracies and the Obama Deception made him start thinking about shit that even Anthony didn't agree with at the time
The “if he gets more than me, you have to bump my pay up equal to his” thing in contract signing is called a _Favored Nations Clause_

The moment Opie was fired he should have sold up and moved to the suburbs.
Everyone who retires, unless you have about $50 million in the bank, needs to downsize their lifestyle somewhat. ESPECIALLY if you live in Manhattan and have no support structure or employment prospects.
Anthony always said Opie was obsessed with status. Maybe his wife is too and that's why they couldn't bare the optics of moving to a cheaper (and safer) part of the country.
The instances where he chooses to hang on to. His pride are always misguided.
Opie probably paid off both his homes and has more in the bank then Anthony. Ant lost a lot of money to his ex wife, he also lost money the house he sold. I'd say Opie is probably better off overall if you add up assets and compare their net worths.

Im no Howard fan, but O&A never had the audience Howard had on terrestrial radio. Even at their height on WNEW, they didn't have the numbers they claimed.
Don and Mike read O and A's actual ratings on their show a few months before O and A were fired. They were number 1 men 18 to 34, and thats about it. Overall, their ratings were pretty poor in afternoons. However, they were good at getting publicity, and CBS wanted to keep them to prevent them from going to mornings on a different network and going against Howard.
The seconds he cuts costs, his wife leaves.
Opie wanted to do afternoons while no one wanted that shift, then years later he goes: "I was only kidding about afternoons"

Mike's opie inpression is uncanny.
Opie has a tell. When he lies or exaggerates, his voice goes high pitch. He has done that for decades. I’m an old school O&A fan. Never liked creepy Jimmy, but he was very funny. Opie should do a last run with Ant. It would be huge. Opie reminds me of people who blames others for their failures. Kind of turned into his mother.
I would prefer Anthony and Jim. Opie is dead weight.
The contract term that would’ve bumped up Anthony’s money is called the “Favored nations clause”.

Opie says Jim was not good for the show, but Jim is the reason I started listening to the show. I loved O&A over Stern because it seemed like a gathering place for comedians, and Jim Norton was a big part of that.
That being said, Jim and Sam is mostly unlistenable unless Colin, Vos, Bobby or some other comedian is on their with them.
Jim was critical to the show's peak years but Opie will never admit that. He resented the fact that the show moved on from a shock jock format to a forum that attracted stand up comics.
I don't get everyone constantly saying if they got back together it would be a big hit. No it wouldn't. They would be just another podcast that would run 1 or 2 hours 3 days a week. No matter the agreement they both came too the dynamic and structure of the old show wouldn't be there. It would be constant talking over each other and people taking shots at Opie since he wouldn't be the gatekeeper of who gets on the show. They wouldn't have bosses to bitch about and blame for things not getting done it would be all on them. It's garbage thinking.
I dont even know what Opie could add to a show. His whole persona is 2005 douchebag bro.

I have to disagree about Op being same level as Stern. U mentioned the FM Radio numbers. When Stern signed 2Sirrius they went frm 500,000 to 6MILLION SUBS. I no I wasnt alone as some1 who got a sub a year n advance just incase they fired him frm Krock&he was able to go to Sirrius early. I dont know whats actual sub numbers&listener numbers but at Sterns peak on SXM he had between 8-12Million. The numbers are so low now its amazing they still pay him so much. I became a big OnA fan Id say a year after it was clear Artie wasnt returning. I was such a Stern fan I paid & had tapes mailed weekly frm 90-93. N late 93 I got online&was able 2listen. Stern became such a Hollywood Sellout I went from buying weekly tapes to having a SXM Sub to refusing to listen to Hollywood Howie for free

I know this sounds like a long shot, but I think Opie catches RUclips clips of Anthony and since Anthony's show is timeless on account of never once upgrading his equipment or being able to get new guests, Opie legitimately can't tell that these are very old clips from clip channels. So, essentially, Opie is kind of an out of it guy and it constantly responding to like 5 year old videos because they were clipped and uploaded recently. That's just my theory though. Opie and Anthony are both far too low for me to keep track of these days. Didn't even know the ghoul had a heart attack.

Jimmy, and that murderers row of comics, that were regularly on, were the best part of O+A. Personally I think Anthony is overrated as hell. He was decent when he was in the mix with funnier people, but on his own hes worthless. Opie is awful in all respects.
