    Opie never realized that the radio genius that was Anthony; carried him, babied him and shielded him for 20 years. He was a paperweight. Erock would have been a better on-mic board op than Opie.

    One of the most infuriating “fights” I ever heard from these two was the aftermath of the D.L. Hughley incident. When they got into a discussion about which guests get to come in, Jimmy tells Opie that even though they are both essentially hosts, Opie is the boss and has final say on which guests get on the show. Opie tries to tell him that’s not true but as he’s trying to explain how it’s not true, it becomes very clear that it IS true. When Opie talks about Jimmy wanting guests in he says “you are always welcome to plead your case” and when talking about a specific guest that Jimmy did have come in he says “I kinda let you have that one.” Opie trying to prove it’s not “Opie’s rules” by listing all the things he ALLOWS Jimmy to have is one of the funniest, and most frustrating things I’ve ever heard.

      Opie always saw it as his show. Even in the beginning of Opie and Anthony he saw it as his show with Anthony. Over time, Opie had accept that Anthony was a 50/50 partner, but he would never accept Jim as a partner.

    No, Anthony is NOT racist....even Patrice said "Anthony isn't a racist - he's racial" The Best parts of the show were the discussions and conversations between Ant and Patrice. Nobody respected Patrice more than Anthony did and DumbLoser Hughley to call Ant racist, typical of a mediocre "talent" playing the race card. Patrice was WAY more intelligent, witty, and talented than just about every other comic out there and his relationship with Ant was far better than Opie's with just about everybody - he's the luckiest NO talent hack in radio history, with NO talents, or positive personal qualities - and owes MILLIONS to Anthony, Jimmy and their guests. Opie in one of his very, very few moments of wisdom got the radio station to hire Ant (Opie could recommend the hiring but did NOT hire Ant - the radio station paid Anthony not the Opester) and then both Anthony and opie recommending Jimmy, who again was paid by the radio station NOT Anthony and opie. Anthony is a radio LEGEND and opie, just look at him today, what he always was but in worse shape (good thing Ant and Jimmy PAID for the multi million dollar dwellings that Dopester occupies - a Low Life in a high rise.....fawkkkk yeahhhh, Home Run Destroyer (thanks to the Legendary Ed Asner, for giving Dopie that well earned and totally deserved name)

    Opie didn’t listen to a single thing Jim said in any one of their fights. Opie is so mentally ill and mentally deficient that he will always fixate on his own insecurity or his own concern, whatever is going on in his head, regardless of what’s actually being said. I’m not there yet so I don’t know if you guys touch upon it but in their last on air fight, they’re talking about their issues working together and Opie sidetracks the entire conversation to be about people online criticizing him and expecting Jim to have an answer for it.

    Opie burned every single bridge that was made for him in the industry and he really has no one to blame but himself. Looking back its really a surprise it even lasted as long as it did considering the daily tension that was there for Ant and Jimmy on most days.
    I remember hearing that Opie was ready to quit in 2000 which really shows just the lack of awareness for others around him. He obviously resented Anthony from the beginning considering he was a student of radio whose show never took off until Ant got there. He probably thought how could this guy that was doing AC work be better at this than me?. He never realized that radio is entertainment and when doing a comedy show, rule 1 is to be funny.

    • @TDNomad
      @TDNomad 5 месяцев назад +5

      To add to this.
      In the beginning Opie was comfortable in his role. He had/has resentment towards Ant & Jim based on how well they gelled. And also with guess.
      The guys kept Opie in. They didn’t try to steer away from him. They’d include him. It was Opie who felt pushed so he became a jackass. He felt he needed to take control so he’d insert himself & “Steer” the ship.
      Opie has no self awareness so he’ll never blame himself even know he’s to blame for things as well

    • @NothingToPointOut24
      @NothingToPointOut24 5 месяцев назад +8

      @@TDNomad I think before Jimmy he was comfortable in his role because it was the type of shock-jock type radio show that he wanted to do and he had sort of a cool role in it. Once Jimmy got there it changed to more comedy based which obviously he lacks in.
      I think if Opie had his way he would still be throwing poker chips at people, breaking guitars and stomping cakes because that is what he thinks is funny entertainment. The cringe style humor. What he fails to realize is there's a difference between cringe humor and just cringe.

      He did change once Jimmy came on. But still the guys didn’t leave him out of things. It was just hard to keep him in the loop when Opie would turn full cringe. Had Opie just stuck to being the straight man & just lead the show it would’ve been fine. He always wanted to have acknowledgment that he was in charge. His way of contributing was taking callers, reading other comments on Instant feedback, or stopping the current discussion to return to the “bit” Opie has in place. He himself hardly had good takes on things. When Opie would contribute on his own he’d give a very vague opinion or act like he was too cool for the room to care about it. Listen to when they talked about their families & Ant would say how his dad did this or that & others would be interested & ask follow questions. But when Opie would say something about his mom/dad he kept it vague & it was awkward to hear cause he made it that way. Follow up questions were like the elephant room. They knew Opies mom was whatever but Opie would play it off as if it wasn’t a big deal. He made it hard to care & hard to follow up with anything. You could feel the vibe just be off cause Opie made it that way.
      He didn’t have anything that was as interesting to follow up on or care to deliver.
      And Everything was bit to him. He talks about hack radio he was hack. And not being a company man. He was a big company man

    Opie wanted to be stern and Howard would leave guys waiting like that, but for him it made most sense because they had a schedule to follow. Opie would do it as an ego trip when they could’ve brought the comedian in quicker. He made them sit there for no reason most of the time

Although I disagree, Norton doesn’t argue like an alpha, he just argues with conviction. He’s another narcissist.

    There really needs to be an episode about O&A interns, if only because the shows use of interns was mirrored to an extent by early Barstool. O&A had Blind Intern Stevie, Dave had Blind Mike. Mild similarities with the likes of Sam going from intern whipping boy to major part of the show vs Hank going from getting duct taped to walls to where he is now. Feels like theres some fun shit to dive into there.

    As far as Sean Rouse, I listened to the entire on-air show, and honestly, you wouldn't necessarily know there was any tension. Sean doesn't speak up very much, Opie doesn't antagonize him, and audiences would simply perceive it as one of those appearances where a guest fades into the background, if they even noticed. The mistreatment was there, but all kept behind the curtain.
    [Edit]
    By the way, Craig's voice sounds *SO MUCH* like a young Bob Kelly, I keep getting confused whether there's an old O&A clip playing.

    Anthony always expressed racism, he was pretty transparent about so at least he was honest. He also seemed to be cordial and deft with the people he dealt with in person. He also had some troubles with being indiscreet with online activities. Conflicted person. Jim wild person with a heart of gold. Opie insecure and suddenly developed a moral compass after he was off the show but seems to be trying in life.

    When Opie went on MLC a week or two ago he left a little breadcrumb. Opie claimed that just after Anthony was fired, Sam Roberts visited him at his beach house to try to convince him to get rid of Jimmy. I wonder if the "lots of new info" he got came from Sam, whether this is completely made up, and/or why Opie would throw Sam under the bus at this point (as to my knowledge he's not been too harsh on Sam since).
    It's interesting, because if Sam had done what Opie claims, and told him that Jim and Ant do this and that behind your back it could half explain the "we're not that close" argument and the way Opie pussy-foots around saying anything real.
    I know Opie could potentially be that much of a bitch off his own back, but if thats brand new info (as it was to me) there's some investigating to be done

    • @BlindMikeProject

      I could see Sam going to Opie as a friend and asking if he thought keeping Jim was a good idea since it was obvious on the days that Ant wasnt there, they never had good chemistry. Many times it sounded like they flat out didnt like each other even in the days before Ant was fired.
      But then Opie probably took that as Sam wanting him to get rid of Jimmy
