Follow the Beaver crew on the first leg of our Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean. This leg we blast dead downwind 800NM over 6 days to Mindelo, Cape Verde for a brief stopover before the big crossing. We test out out our twin headsails and twin poles and give the Hydrovane a good workout. Join us as we embark on our biggest crossing yet, the Atlantic Ocean.
A couple from Australia and Norway who set sails from Norway on a Beneteau Oceanis 40 in late 2018 to explore the world by sailboat. (Yup, another sailing couple doing the standard route and documenting it on film.)

What's not to like about this video? Relaxed, fun, chilled. Everyone had a great passage on this one. Looks like you were very well prepared and the boat was rigged just right. Thanks for inspiring me to install a Hydrovane (along with a few other folks in similar boats). Fun crew with some musical talent to boot... Looking forward to the next video.
Some very kind words there Randy, much appreciated 🙌. We hope the Hydrovane is as good to you as it is to us and you get some fun downwind passages just like this one. We had a great passage and of course never a dull moment with the boys onboard!
thats not a high end video, its not
but it is verry true, simpel as live on board is,
no false charmings, no beauty contest,
one of the honest videos to find
Thanks and appreciate your words 🙏
I really like the animated pins dropping into the map. It really helps show where you are on the route. Thanks for that
No worries, glad it helps out. Take care 🤙
Mate!!
I’m not sure why I haven’t been watching your RUclips episodes until now.. But I’ve just binge watched all of them in the last few days. Pretty bloody good!
Would have been a pretty fun trip with rob and cez on board I bet..
Cheers man that’s epic glad you enjoyed it. It was all time having the boys onboard, best crew you could have! Hope your well 🤙

Quite mesmerizing to watch isn’t it. Cheers.

Yew, same to you! Cheers 🍻
Looks like a great sailing environment for the trip, an alternative expression would be that boat is full of nuts ;) I am catchin up with these a bit quickly time for a cuppa before the next one.
Ah great to hear, enjoy. Yeah couple of characters onboard that’s for sure 🤙
EPIC!!!!!!!! Can’t believe I’m sitting in hospital now about to have surgery 😳 That cheered me up though brother
Haha yew. Might have to take some sick leave and come helm the Beaver again! Heal up soon bra 🤞
Pretty cool!!!!
Cheers 🤙
@@SailingBeaver For sure. Merry Christmas and a better 2021.
You too! 🙏
Fire Ass channel , happy I subscribed 👌🏽 What’s one takeaway sailing has taught you that one can apply to everyday life?
Thank you and welcome aboard. When the weather sucks to just relax and nothing is as bad as it seems in that moment. 🤙
Really like your channel and the excellent quality. Regarding your experiences so far - would you consider a more blue oriented yacht?
Thankyou Fredrick.
When on the longer offshore passages yes sometimes for sure, but on the other hand for the same value something “Blue” we would have got much older, smaller, slower and more maintenance. When we return to Norway we would most like make that change for cruising colder climates again.
Hi Sam & Nicole. What year did you cross from Las Palmas to the Caribbean? Great video btw.
Hey Bryan, thanks and glad you enjoyed it. We arrived early this year to the Antilles so yes our crossing was last season.
Bilar från Ahlgrens i Gävle. The worlds most sold car.
Even more popular then the mighty Volvo ?
Would you stop at cape verde if you were to do it again? Or go straing from the Canaries?
We would definitely stop there again but instead allow a couple of weeks to check out the other islands. Was a very unique place and a shame we had to depart after 24 hours.
God jul!
God jul!🎄🥰
I see no vikings on that sailingboat
Vikingtiden endte i år 1066 Herr Norway Bergen.. Så det er kanskje ikke så rart at du ikke så noen
