Thank you so very much for explaining the options for powering multiple fans with their pwm connectors. Being a 41-year old noob and not knowing how to do this, I've watched a dozen Corsair icue 220t build videos (the case that I'm using), where they all quickly gloss over the detail as to how they wired in the power to their fans. Super frustrating! You're the only one that actually clearly demonstrates the connections. I owe you!
FYI for anyone reading and wanting to know, if you currently have the commander pro, you can also hook the USB cable of the core straight into one of the two USB ports on the CoPro to not waste a motherboard USB header. The command pro also has two lighting channels , should you only have a need for two of these fans, without needing to use the core at all.
@@lor7780 the commander pro has two lighting inputs on it. On top of 5 fan channels, and two USB ports. When you buy LED Corsair fans, you could definitely plug two of them into the copro. But the fans will also come with the lighting box, which you could plug that lighting box USB port into the copro usb pass through. Hope this makes sense
After buying, then installing these fans, I feel that Corsair will be my go-to brand of case fans. I installed them in about a half hour, and on the first try they lit up brilliantly! Now to download the software so I can complete my lighting effect.
I ordered a set of QL120 and a couple sets QL140 fans for my Cooler Master C700M case this past weekend. The 140s were going to replace the original LL120 fans to improve air intake. The 120s are replacing the LL120s on my Corsair H150i Capellix. After 4 years, the LEDs on my LL120 fans are due for replacement because of faulty LEDs. Some of the LEDs are dead and others will not light up the right color anymore. It's a shame that Corsair LEDs don't last through the lifetime of the product as my LL120 fans are still working. With all that said, I'm looking forward to installing these new fans and seeing how well they improve the look of my setup. I'm also glad to know that the newer QL series fans are compatible with the iCUE Commander Core XT.
I have watched so many videos about this matter and man that was the best !! ,instead of all others mambo jumpo goofing around not sawing anything, nice job👍😀
I am planning a setup with 5 QLs, 3x120mm and 2x140mm. Can I get away with just one lighting node core or do I need two? I heard that plugging fans to the RGB hub is model-specific (meaning that you can't plug for example QLs and HDs to the same RGB hub), so I am not sure if same model but different sizes can be handled. Cheers
KamiKaZe MMO mine does just fine. 9900k and h115 plat. 2 140mm ql’s. OC to 5GHz. Temp on the liquid running through the aio never gets above 38C. In a Phanteks evolv matx case to boot! I have some custom panels on the way to get some better flow through the front and top.
so i have 2 QL 140 fans and 4 rgb strips connected to each other, the commander pro and the lightning node core. ive connected the fans to the commander and thier rgb's to the node core. i also connected the node core usb to the commander and the commander's usb to my MB and for some reason. the led strip who's connected to the commander works fine but only 1 fan leds are working. i configured 2 fans at icue and nothing working. when i switch their cables the other fan works fine so it mean that the fans are faulty or anything. any ideas?
Another excellent install guide. So simple and straightforward my 4 yo could install these. If i didn't already have LL fans i'd be all over these like a fat kid with cake. Gonna have to have a chat with Santa i think.
This was actually really helpful. I have an NZXT brand of fan with lighting controller, and I've been having problems getting the rgb to turn on with the fans. And I see why they're not working properly now. Thanks for that. You just helped me solved my problem completely.
I'm quite confused about the hubs and fans, little help please? Looking to get myself the Corsair Hydro 115i RGB Platinum (Which come with 2 ML PRO fans on the radiator) and 3 QL Fans just for the rest of my computer. What hub(s) do I need to buy for all this to sync up, how and where do I plug each thing in, and if the ML PRO Fans (from the Hydro) go into the motherboard while the QL Fans go into the Lighting Node CORE, then into the motherboard - do the lights / temperatures still sync up, or will they be fighting / confusing each other?
Does the splitter come with the fans or you have to buy it seperatly? And can you change the rpm once you connected the fans to the lightning node pro? Really need an answer :)
Is it the same for the SP120 RGB PRO fans? Do they need to be connected to a fan splitter for power or is it just enough to connect them to the Lighting Node Core?
A bit conflicted. Recently bought a lighting node core and it did not come with the USB cord and idk where to buy this, as it seems to only come in the other packaging ....
Wait so do u need this or not? I have the spec omega rgb case and it came with a lighting node pro, will I be able to plugin the rgb light bar from the case to the core? Do I even need the core and if I don’t get it will there be any consequences like limited customizability of the lighting?
I just tried to add a QL fan to my set up, I used the rgb header on MOBO but the lights don’t really work too well. I can’t change the colours or anything. Do I need the rgb Hub?
If i buy the corsair crystal 680x case which comes with 3 LL RGB fans and a lighting node pro, and i also purchase a commander pro, would i be able to run a 8 fan set up with 3 LL fans and 5 QL fans ? i understand you cant mix the fan types correct ?
They shoukd make the frame on the back of the fan that connects the outside frame to the center hub a frosted clear color to blend in a bit better. Not sure why they make them solid colors.
Please tell me which usb cable attached in lightning node core inner side. 9pin or micro usb or 5pin... it's Soooooooooo Helpful for me... Cuz I purchased lightning node core without usb cable, it has just sata cable.....
Ok I need help I bought 6 of these fans aka I bought 2 of the three bundle Corsair ql120mm fans do I do this whole thing 2 times? Or something I need help please
Are all sata power cables from psu the same and can be plugged into the lighting node core? Asking because had a previous experience where i plugged in a sata powered led controller from coolermaster and it smoked and fried.
great video! Can you send me a link to the splitter which you used to plug the 3 fans into where you only need to plug into one fan on your motherboard? thanks

Hey there, one question? Can I install the fan hub cables to the motherboard?
Hey man, I freaking love your channel music. You make some really really good shit.
Thanks so much!
Finally a good excuse to get some 140mm RGB fans for my AIO - knew I held off for a reason!
Good stuff GS :)
I appreciate the video info. I will be adding these fans.
Any video on connecting more than 6 LL / QL fans to command pro?
You need another commander pro
Nope i have 9 fans you need one commander pro and two lightning pro
ship another ship yea one commander pro and two node core
+ maybe some fan splitters depending on how many fans you need to install

sick as always ❤ i feel LL fans look better
No way! The QLs are way cooler!
Main problem with the LL's is the LED's only face one way, the intakes on my Lian Li PC-011 look silly with the back side showing
Your smoking crack.
I don't like the fact that in this QL there's some hot spots where you actually can see the LED'S. the LL is more defused IMO
@@codestere1 hmmm crack
Nice build bro that looks clean as heck👍🏻
I have 7 Fans to connected, what i need to buy? Do i need 2 Corsair Commander PRO or can i do it with Y adaptor ?
Just finished my first build with LL120's. I will probably swith to QL's when I'll take my loop apart for maintenance.
TIK did the same. Totally worth it.
why you want to replace your LLs for a worst performer? for looks? the LL fans are the middle ground, performance and looks

Found some complaints that the LED’s fail in a couple months of use. Get the LL instead..
The made a newer version it doesn't happen anymore
Great Installation guide fams. These fams look pretty epic and I am glad they changed it to the one controller now

Can I still use the commander pro and rob hub with the ql fan? Because it is easier for me to just plug the 4 pin fan connector into the commander pro
You are very concise and precise you are very good
