This was quite helpful. I can't get the rgb going yet, as I only have 1 sata slot available and will need a splitter. But this breakdown is great. Thank you
Well great. I just went to my local Best Buy and purchased a single LL120 fan thinking that I do not need anything else like the node pro. Is there any place that I can just buy the node pro and not the 3 pack? I am too broke.
You can't buy the Lighting Node Pro separately, as that comes with their 2-packs and 3-packs of their fans, as well as their LED strips. The alternative is to buy the Commander Pro, which is only a little cheaper than buying a 3-pack. The Commander Pro has inputs for; Two RGB LED channels (like the Lighting Node Pro), two USB 2.0 headers, 4 thermistors for temperature sensors, and 6 PWM fans. I can only imagine how much it must suck to find that out, and although this comment is a bit late, I hope it helps.
I know im late, but maybe someone can help me. How can i connect 9 Corsair fans. Because the Commander only got 6 Fan slots. Hope someone can explain it :)
I guess you could try connecting 2 or more fans in 1 fan slot on the hub. For this you will need a fan splitter that connects 2 or more fans to 1 port (not 100% sure this works with rgb). Fan spliiter cable: www.amazon.com/DZS-Elec-Splitter-Sleeved-Extension/dp/B07FNL8YCZ/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=fan+splitter&qid=1575997472&sr=8-6 Furthermore, if you dont care about losing rgb on 3 of your fans u can just plug them into your motherboard with or without the splitter. I hope this helped
Great video, I was wondering for people with the original 570x, if we get the commander pro could we still get the original case buttons for lighting effects to work properly with that new and bigger controller?
Wait so these fans come with 2 types of wire? One for the power and one for the rgb, but I have to connect the rgb ones into some rgb hub thing (the splitter he was talking about) that then connects to something else to control the lights, and the other wires into an actual fan hub for them to work? Why the hell didnt corsair just make the fan port just not already have the lighting control, that's so many extra cables and ports then neccessary!?!?!?!
I could be wrong about this since I have never installed RGB fans. I believe the Corsair splitter is specially made for Corsair fans only. The other fan connectors are for connecting to a non Corsair fan hub.
I bought 2 (separately) ML120 Pro fans. They came with nothing extra, only the fan itself. If I want to turn on their RGB lights, do I only need to buy the Lighting Node PRO? I am not bothered with fan speed. Any answer is much appreciated!
What motherboard are you running. I’m using an MSI B450 pro carbon and it has a special CORSAIR RGB header on it. Allows you to plug the “splitter” directly into the board bypassing the other box completely.
I have to say i have been at it for about 2 hours and i have found that if i plug if you do not plug the sata power in to the lighting node pro. and just plug the sata power into the lighting link. It will work

Is it possible to directly connect that splitter to motherboard and config the color via iCue without having to connect the splitter to Lighting Node Pro?
I was thinking about getting a new case and adding these rbg fans. My wife brought me back to my senses when she said, "Hun rbg fans won't increase your framerates. You have a great silent case with noctua fans." Great video though.
@5:39 Will I be able to adjust RGB and speed separately for each fan connected to the Fan hub? Or does every fan in the hub use the same color and speed (since they are all connected to the same channel on the Node Pro)
Im that kinda guy that wants to know how everything works before using something, so i thank you for this video:) One small thing i dont know tho is where do you plug in your power connectors to your fan, is it in the motherboard?
Glad I came across this video. I was debating buying the commander pro thingy to make things easier, but this video informed me the 3 pack fans come with that splitter and RGB thing which is basically what the commander is anyway. Only thing I miss out on is temp sensors and the USB plugs. Pretty much saved me £60.
Too many comments to dig thru, but I have this already, and wanted to add 3 more fans but a different brand. Can I simply connect them to the remaining 3 open spots on the lighting node pro?
I’m not struggling with getting the fans working, I’m struggling hard with getting them screwed in since they love to decide to suddenly jank up the screw, so they go from straight to suddenly angled and *really* hard to screw in
I wonder if people weren't sequentially plugging in the fans to the splitter and that's why so many had issues? Doesn't the data flow up/down the fans so if there is a gap with plugging into the splitter the fans after the gap won't light?
Help! My fans are spinning at 5600-5700 RPM and I have no idea why and how to control the speed. I did set up a fan curve in the bios, but that didn't do anything. And I have figured out that you need a Commander Pro to be able to control the fan speed from Corsair's iCue. It litterally sounds like a jet engine taking off next to me, which is pretty unnecessary since I don't play any demanding game right now, I'm watching RUclips. So if anyone knows how to fix this, I would really appreciate some help :)
Im such a idiot.. I only installed the kit for the fans itself but not the lighting node since i thought that would only be necesary when u have led strips.. Thank you so much for showing how stupid i am
That video helps a lot since wiring up all the RGB ist skipped in most build videos out there. But TBH using two additional boxes in your case, two SATA power connectors and a USB 2.0 motherboard connector just to control the color and effects of the fans seems a little bit overengineered by Corsair.
If I planned only one Corsair fan with RGB (probably LL120 or SP120) I need all this stuff? I just want one back fan with RGB using iCue in my Nano S without spending so much moneys... :/
dude the last 2 minutes saved me from looking thru my pc and touching wires i have no business touching lmaoooo that icue tutorial was key for my rear fan not working..and the intro was hilarious btw lmaoooooo thanks for the help!!!
Oh god, those colored cables in the USB connector will be visable. Is there somehow to make that look better? Say with a sleeve extension or something? Cause that looks awful.
I bought the corsair Obsidian 500 d with the RGB commander thing. This little gem of a port 2:22 is not visible the way it was installed because it faces the back of the case. With the crap instructions that came with it, I couldn't figure out how this would work, because the only thing I could see to connect it was a SATA power connector, which wouldn't send any signals to the controller. The splitter is securely connected to the front of the power supply cover. The commander, was not. The glue on the tape failed and it was bouncing around inside the case when it was delivered.
This must be the most confusing and the longest fan installation that I have ever seen. is just way too much to do to install fans with pretty lights. I have seen the video like 3 or 4 times in preparation of my fans getting here by next week and i'm still confuse.
It's actually not confusing once you sit down with all the parts and skim the manuals. It was really fun and memorable getting to know the Corsair ecosystem.

Very cool stuff. I have a box full of these waiting for install. I just wish they had combined the 2 boxes into one slightly larger unit. That voice though, sounds like some military service in there?
I don't personally care about it lighting up ive already got enough lights inside my case, the question Is do I have to have the commander and hub to make it run or is that just for it to light up?
Did you ever find out? I'm at a loss if what to do with these "to rgb hub" wires. They are 4 pin, but the rgb led connectors are all 3 pin. I don't see anywhere these should go on the commander pro.
All the people who complained about the intro still watched and this video helped them. It's called Aussie sarcasm.

For me, this was perfect because i had the h150i corsair cpu cooler, and it came with the commander pro! (Which had 6 slots for fans, and rgb) leaving me an additional 3 after I plugged in my 3 fans that came with my cooler, I decided to get the ll120 fans to fully utilize my commander pro!
My favorite tech youtuber with my favorite case fan
They are great fans!
@@GearSeekers ikr lol😂
Is it possible to directly connect that splitter to motherboard and config the color via iCue without having to connect the splitter to Lighting Node Pro?
"more about this later"
Bro believe me or not. This kind of "how to" vedio help me a lot. I know many thing from your vedio. Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩

I was thinking about getting a new case and adding these rbg fans. My wife brought me back to my senses when she said, "Hun rbg fans won't increase your framerates. You have a great silent case with noctua fans." Great video though.
See this is why women are dumb. It is SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN that RGB gives a minimum 15% fps increase
Dude you are a FUCKING GODSEND you saint 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I needed you today. I just came back from black Friday shopping 😅. Time to get building
@5:39 Will I be able to adjust RGB and speed separately for each fan connected to the Fan hub? Or does every fan in the hub use the same color and speed (since they are all connected to the same channel on the Node Pro)
Yes
By far the best explanation so far.
No, I believe you have to stick with the same Corsair fan model or it breaks the chain and confuses the software.
Thank you for the videop you were VERY clear and easy to understand so as i said thank you! :)
Wonderful video. Just curious though, do you need to download iCue to use the LL series fans with Asus Aura?
Yes
did anyone elses 3 pack of fans with rbg hub and lighting node not come with a 3 pin connector
yes unfortunatly. no lighting
I’m not struggling with getting the fans working, I’m struggling hard with getting them screwed in since they love to decide to suddenly jank up the screw, so they go from straight to suddenly angled and *really* hard to screw in
exactly what i was looking for thanks for the very informative video!
I wonder if people weren't sequentially plugging in the fans to the splitter and that's why so many had issues? Doesn't the data flow up/down the fans so if there is a gap with plugging into the splitter the fans after the gap won't light?
Great video, keep up the good work and your channel will grow quickly as your content and editing is up there with the big dogs.
Thanks so much.
Glad you got there in the end
That video helps a lot since wiring up all the RGB ist skipped in most build videos out there. But TBH using two additional boxes in your case, two SATA power connectors and a USB 2.0 motherboard connector just to control the color and effects of the fans seems a little bit overengineered by Corsair.
This helped me alot. Thanks man :D
If I planned only one Corsair fan with RGB (probably LL120 or SP120) I need all this stuff? I just want one back fan with RGB using iCue in my Nano S without spending so much moneys... :/
bro love your channel!!! is about time you get more subs
dude the last 2 minutes saved me from looking thru my pc and touching wires i have no business touching lmaoooo that icue tutorial was key for my rear fan not working..and the intro was hilarious btw lmaoooooo thanks for the help!!!
really helped, thanks again
Oh god, those colored cables in the USB connector will be visable. Is there somehow to make that look better? Say with a sleeve extension or something?
Cause that looks awful.
I’m your biggest *fan.*
Thanks Nick and gang :D
Can you please tell me how I can get a fun hab to connect all 3 fans to the mainboard , like in 6:09 ?
If you buy the 3 pack it should come with the hub and lightning node pro
Den bekommst du im 3er Pack dazu. Ansonsten brauchst du einen Corsair RGB Fan Hub UND eine Lighting Node Pro/Commander Pro.
This must be the most confusing and the longest fan installation that I have ever seen. is just way too much to do to install fans with pretty lights. I have seen the video like 3 or 4 times in preparation of my fans getting here by next week and i'm still confuse.
It's not hard to follow it's just unnecessary steps on Corsair's part
It's actually not confusing once you sit down with all the parts and skim the manuals. It was really fun and memorable getting to know the Corsair ecosystem.
Hi i bought a Corsair ml 140 m pro it uses the same connectors that are on the LL fans but i dont have a hub for i bought only one the question is can i turn on rgb or it will be just a case fan with no lighting
My friend, tell me you are not using ARRI ALEXA?
This is a good video, helped with builds concerning the fans.
One tip to improve on is the upward inflection when you're explaining things at the end of your sentences, gives me a headache. Apart from that, good job mate!
Very cool stuff. I have a box full of these waiting for install. I just wish they had combined the 2 boxes into one slightly larger unit. That voice though, sounds like some military service in there?
Nope no Military server
I seriously hate corsair, im new to building and everything here confuses me...
RTB Gains are their fans the only reason why you hate them?
@@EndorsZone yeahh everything i have is corsair, ive figured most of it out fans were by far the hardest
I stopped buying corsair after my third AX 1200 i failed in 12 months
I don't personally care about it lighting up ive already got enough lights inside my case, the question Is do I have to have the commander and hub to make it run or is that just for it to light up?
Now the only thing that left is to buy 'em lol
does the splitter and some of the wires like the usb come with the fans or would I need to buy that seperately?
So now i need to buy a "Fan Hub" so i can plug in my fans... nice
Yeah Im in the same boat. Kinda silly if you ask me. Should come with everything you need.
So the only cable need to be plugged into the motherboard is the USB cable, and not the actual power connectors for the fan apart from the RGB cable?
Amazing vid!
Thanks so much!!
wgat do i do with second cable coming out of those fans?
Did you ever find out? I'm at a loss if what to do with these "to rgb hub" wires. They are 4 pin, but the rgb led connectors are all 3 pin. I don't see anywhere these should go on the commander pro.
