Torsten yeah, I ended up wasting $30 in an extra LED Fan Hub because I didn’t know it was already included with the fans. Once everything is installed is all worth it tho, my pc never looked better.

Awesome video! 2 years later and you're still the only one to have made a clear and concise video on what is needed and what isn't when setting up the Corsair RGB system. Thank you!
I've gone through half a dozen videos trying to figure out what nodes are fully necessary for these fans and this guide is by far the clearest and most in depth video I've found, great informative video
Haven't even watched half of the video but pretty much has answered already more of my questions than several other videos on the same subject. Thank you for a very informational video so far :)
Thank you, thank you, and thank you. I have been searching and searching trying to find the answer to what I need and the different parts without any luck until I came across your video. Very confusing about what is needed...Lighting Node Core, Hub, Lighting Node Pro, Commander Pro, etc...I didn't know about getting the buddle of three fans so I purchased 4 individually so I didn't end up with the lighting node. Thanks to you, now I know exactly what I need.
Hi iaimtocake3536, I've happy you found this video helpful! Thanks for the kind feedback, that totally makes it worth doing!!! Have fun with it!!! and thanks for watching, and your support!!!
Have seen lots of videos regarding corsair rgb case fans, node pro rgb led strip and commander pro but never understood how these works together. But in this video, you not only showed how to operate but explained perfectly.😃😃
I was just connecting them in the most clean way possible which of the four fans I connected, the order fell on 6,5,4 and 3. Leaving 1 and 2 empty. I kept thining I was missing an ARGB 3-pin, 5V cable that connects to the motherboard. You video explained that "NOT" connecting these in order, "Will" break the RGB function. I never would have guessed as I got the case second-hand and without any manuals! (of course) Thanks, FB Marketplace.

Fully agree: The best video out there describing in detail the difference between the Commander Pro and the Lighting Pro. Video is very clear and than God that you speak slowly and clearly. Very instructive. Only question I have is whether Corsair Liquid Pump RGB and USB connectivity should go through Commander Pro. Thanks!
I was looking for that exact info. Here is a link I found that explained it. You won't need to plug in a corsair AIO fan into the commander pro. You plug the PWM and RGB input directly into the pump head and is controlled through the icue software that is associated with the AIO. Hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/OrSAuvv-7Tc/видео.html
Excellent Video - finally showing a 'how to' rather than a 'look at me and tastfully decorated bedroom/study' video. More of this please, it's helpful to so many.
Signed in just to say thanks for showing me how to connect all the corsair products together, I feel like corsair made this more confusing than it had to be lol..
This was the first channel that explained it the right way I was about to make a video. I was tired of everyone making videos about this commander pro saying it controls the fans and rgb... They never mention you need the rgb hub. But not the rgb hub that comes with the sp120.. A special rgb hub lol. It's so sickening how these companies each have propiertary components they should be universal 3 pin rgb but I digress.. Nice video man.
At last, the best explanation of lighting that I have found. I'm new to all this and your explanation was very helpful especially after searching countless other sites for a clear explanation.
i biggest annoyance with corsair is the lack of instruction this is very clear i really like it, i didnt know you didnt have to use the node. but since getting into custom watercooling with the hydro x series there is so many more connections. if you could possibly do a walk through setup of that. that would help. the hydro series had near to no instructions
Thanks Daniel, I'm just getting ready to do some water cooling with hydro x products myself, I'll do a video, it will take some time to get it done though. Good Luck and thanks for watching!
There are not a lot good videos on how this all integrates, the Corsair documentation is pretty much worthless, thanks for this video. I thought I had it figured out, thanks for confirming what I thought. Your case looks real nice, your cable management skillz are superior! I went with a lot of Corsair RGB in the water cooled build I'm putting together. 3 fans, 4 LED strips, CPU, GPU water blocks and RAM, all Corsair. I think I'll be able to connect the water blocks to the Commander Pro via the Lighting Node Core.
Great explanation, answered all questions I was struggling to find the answers to. I have a micro MB so lack headers on my motherboard. Seems to me the commander pro with some new swanky RGB fans are the way to go. Thanks again!
I was literally a hair away from pulling the trigger on a wack-ton of RGB stuff when I decided I should see how it all connects. I wasn't even close to being ready for it, but you've helped me see what I will need for my 3950x build. Saved my bacon for sure. I thought the Commander Pro would be all I need, but now I have access to the lighting hub. Can the Commander Pro accomodate fans of different sizes? My build was supposed to have a 280mm AIO(2x ML 140mm fans), 3 ML 140mm fans on the front, and 1 ML 120mm exhaust. Or should I try to keep my fan sizes all the same?
Can you have multiple Lighting Node Pro's plugging into a MOBO rather than using the commander? I ask because I need a third LED port for my Corsair front Case Lights which are also ARGB. Want the front of the case to match my fans and lighting strip. Would rather not use the Commander unless I have to. The fan kit and the strip kit both comes Node's, so assuming my MOBO will recognize two Node's that's 4 LED lanes.
Yes, you can add multiple Lighting Node Pros without the Commander Pro. As long as you have free USB headers it will work fine and sync up in iCUE. You can also connect a Lighting Node Pro to an external USB port with the proper cable. Great Question!
This was amazing! So well laid out and I understood everything. Thanks! Quick question I was thinking of getting the SPEC-RGB 06 by corsair. It comes with a front LED strip that's connected to a back controller. Do you know if there's a way to do without that controller and hook it up to the CommanderPro under the LED Input?
Hi, - Can you connect the two AIO fans directly on Commander Pro? - Also, can you connect USB 2.0 (for Corsair H100i AIO) to USB 2.0 header of Commander Pro? I'll plan to use six Corsair ML120 RGB Pro fans (3 for front, 1 for rear, 2 for AIO), but it's really a can of worms! TIA.
Andrew, Am I correct in assuming that the PWM splitter of the Commander Pro is not dedicated to Corsair fans? For instance, if I have 4 LL120's, can I plug the 2 fans which came with the case into the remaining ports just to get power to 'em?
Hi markfalina9160, yes, you are correct, the PWM ports on the Commander Pro are just standard 4 pin PWM connectors and work with any PWM fan, not just corsair. (RGB is a different story though) In addition to that, the Commander PRO will control 3 pin DC fans and control the speed. The CORE XT, in comparison, will run 3 pin DC Fans, but only at their full rated RPM, you can't control them. The commander pro will work great for 4 ll120's and your other 2 fans regardless if they are 4 pin PWM or 3 PIN DC, the connector takes both. Great question, thanks for watching and your support!!! Have Fun!
The USB 2.0 Cable goes from the Corsair device to the Morherboard for data communication. The RGB hub connects to the lighting node pro or commander pro. Good luck.
@@homsey Awesome man I just built my son and I two new gaming rigs with Corsair’s IQUE and it was fairly simple for me because of my profession in engineering. I can see how it can be a complicated mess for others though. I wish Corsair had one box that connected everything together, their way is really messy for some reason with to many devices to connect to. I’m glad that you got it all connected take it easy.
Excellent help, thank you. I wish Corsair would make their website more informative on what does what. It's taken me lots of digging to find out the Commander Pro is what you need if you want to control the PWM on the fans. I wonder if I can use the node that comes with my case for the lighting and buy a separate cheaper fan hub to control the speed?
Hello ArcanePath360, thank you for watching. I will agree that it's confusing to sort out which products you need from Corsair, or anybody for that matter. To answer your question, yes, the commander Pro is optional and not required. You can seperate the RGB lighting control and the fan power/control. I am assuming the 'node' you are referring to is a lighting node pro in your case or another Corsair node, which will accept the rgb fan hub from corsair (or individual fans, but there are only 2 connections on this node", other RGB hubs from other manufacturers will not work with modification usually. You can use the headers on your motherboard for fan control, or use another cheaper hub, the power/control connection of the ll120 fan is standard and the LL120 fans are 4 pin PWM connectors, they will work with 3 pin connections and hubs, but will just run at full speed depending on your motherboard and if it will use voltage controls on those connections. Using a fan hub can often eliminate your ability to control the fans seperately, but check with the hub manufacturer. The commander pro simplifies all this of course and gives a single device to connect to and also gives you the ability to use thermal probes to manage fan curves (I didn't not go into this in the video very much, maybe a good video idea) I recently saw it for 50 from newegg, I'll agree it's a bit pricey, it would be a better value if it were cheaper. Good luck, let me know if I can help!
@@HardwareArtisan Thanks for your help. I have been wondering if it's possible (or even a good idea) to have some kind of hub or splitter to run 4 case fans off the same PWM signal that the CPU cooling fans run off. This is because I will be having the radiator and liquid cooling fans blowing air directly out of the top of the case, and with an additional rear fan that blows out the back and 3 on the front blowing in, I hope to have equalized the pressure in the case. To achieve this however, they all need to run at the same speed as each other. Can I (or should I) link them all to the CPU fan with any old cheap 4 pin hub?
Hello ArcanePath360. Yes, you can run mutliple fans on a single 4 pin fan header, including the CPU fan header. Some Radiator kits may include a splitter. But you can use a hub as well. I would recommend taking a look at your motherboard manual to see if it identifies how much amperage is delivered on the fan header. On average, I would expect 1 amp, so I wouldn't install more than 4 fans total on a single header. Some hubs are externally SATA/MOLEX powered which would eliminate this concern and only get the pwm signal from the motherboard. Of course, the commander node pro is a powered hub, but there are much cheaper alternatives. You will lose the ability to control the fans with iCue if you use anything other than the commander node pro. You also will not be able to control them individually with most hubs and splitters. You will have to use your motherboard control to control them all together, but this sounds like what you're going fo. Good Luck and Happy Building! Awesome Stuff!
@@HardwareArtisan Thank you, exactly what I needed to know. I was worried about amperage, but yes, the hubs I have been looking at are SATA powered, and are about £6. I don't want them individually controlled, as this would cause the air to be un-equalized inside the case. If everything runs from the CPU header pin I think that would be enough, although the noise of all 6 fans going up and down in speed at the same time may be distracting, rather than a more uniform approach. I have seen a second hand Commander Pro on ebay for £20 so I may just get that and give myself better fine tuning of fan curves etc. Thanks for the help
I'm quite confused about the hubs and fans, little help please? Looking to get myself the Corsair Hydro 115i RGB Platinum (Which come with 2 ML PRO fans on the radiator) and 3 QL Fans just for the rest of my computer. What hub(s) do I need to buy for all this to sync up, how and where do I plug each thing in, and if the ML PRO Fans (from the Hydro) go into the motherboard while the QL Fans go into the Lighting Node CORE, then into the motherboard - do the lights / temperatures still sync up, or will they be fighting / confusing each other?
Hi bryanleturia, each controller will need it's own sata power connector. I wouldn't use a splitter. The cable from your power supply has multiple connectors, those are ok to use. Thanks for watching!
Hi Mark, great question! It is not necessary to connect the PWM connections in any particular order as it relates to the lighting, they are seperate functions that you control differently. I went back and rechecked mine, I do have them in the same order it seems, meaning the fan on LED PORT 1 I do have connected and labeled in the first PWM connection, but looking at iCUE, it wouldn't matter, you can rename the fans to anything you want. Only the order or the RGB connections would be important. Let me know if you find something different and I can certainly test it if needed. Thanks for watching!
Hi BushySmalls, great question! Yes, you can mix and match fans on the commander core that comes with the AIO's, it will auto detect each RGB port individually as to what type of fan is there. I have one and it works great! Good Luck and Have fun!! Thanks for watching!
With the new icue update, i see the commander pro says it has rgb and fan speed control built in, so i dont need the rgb controller or lighting node pro at all? I need to hook up 6 LL120 fans, two on a h100i and 4 case fans. According to what i see here i would only need the commander pro?
Wait so I got a cooler master aio and it has two fans and then I bought the 3 fan kit with the commander pro, I also got a corsair case and a fan was included with a total of 6 fans and from my understanding the fan hub will not work?
Yes, you can use a splitter on the pwm ports, I would do so sparingly though. If memory serves, the spec was 1.5A per port with 4.5A total on the controller. So a couple of them will be ok, I just wouldn't go overboard.
@@HardwareArtisan Thanks very much, Andrew! Yes, I think I will only need just one MB fan header splitter (1 to MB splitting to two devices [Corsair Fan Hubs] ). 👍🏻
Best video on this subject I've seen. You explained and demonstrated everything well instead of a useless time lapse video where you jump to the end just to see the lighting effects.
The lighting node core's that I received with my fans has a wired USB 2.0 connector and not the one you show.. my motherboard (rog strix z390-E) only has 2 usb 2.0 ports and one is taken by the AIO .. if I plug the commander pro into the second I am left without one to plug in the lighting node core ...any ideas ?
Hey there so I have 9 Corsair fans, and I have a lighting node core, and a lighting node pro, as well as a commander core, is there anyway I can hook all those o together?
Hi Arin Peralez, Yes, you are correct, if you are just using the core node pro (or lighting node pro), the PWM power connector would go into your motherboard ports or you will need a PWM hub, which is a great reason to consider using this device, it gives you individual control over the speed of the fans. Thanks for Watching!

Boom great tutorial 👌 just what I needed thankyou
Thank you sir helped me 100000%
I'm very happy this video help out! Thanks For watching!!!!
I didn’t fully understand the video, what would I need to buy if I want 12 120LL? I’ve seen they come with the little node pro
Could you use this to also connect the cpu fans ?
Question Each of those devices needs its own data port from its power supply or can we use one SATA port to connect two??
Hi bryanleturia, each controller will need it's own sata power connector. I wouldn't use a splitter. The cable from your power supply has multiple connectors, those are ok to use. Thanks for watching!
@HardwareArtisan so I can plug in a USB 2.0 hub and commander xt and it will work?
Excellent video. Thank you very much!!
THE BEST VIDEO! THNKS A LOT
so i cant mix 140 and 120mm corsair fans to the same hub? or are you referring to different brand fans
2022 - Corsair has the Commander Core XT that combines RBG and fan hubs.
Is it necessary to connect the fans' PWM connectors in the same order as on the hub, or just get power to 'em?
Hi Mark, great question! It is not necessary to connect the PWM connections in any particular order as it relates to the lighting, they are seperate functions that you control differently. I went back and rechecked mine, I do have them in the same order it seems, meaning the fan on LED PORT 1 I do have connected and labeled in the first PWM connection, but looking at iCUE, it wouldn't matter, you can rename the fans to anything you want. Only the order or the RGB connections would be important. Let me know if you find something different and I can certainly test it if needed. Thanks for watching!
Can you mix and match Corsair fans on the newer Commander Core, like comes with the h100/150i Cappelix AIOs?
Hi BushySmalls, great question! Yes, you can mix and match fans on the commander core that comes with the AIO's, it will auto detect each RGB port individually as to what type of fan is there. I have one and it works great!
Good Luck and Have fun!! Thanks for watching!
I used both of the LED ports(I only have the basic LED and RGB hub), so where should I plug in my corsair RGB strips?
Always right to the point ty
Thanks CaptainBrazuca!!!! Thank your for watching and your support!!!
What are the best cases for it
With the new icue update, i see the commander pro says it has rgb and fan speed control built in, so i dont need the rgb controller or lighting node pro at all? I need to hook up 6 LL120 fans, two on a h100i and 4 case fans. According to what i see here i would only need the commander pro?
Wait so I got a cooler master aio and it has two fans and then I bought the 3 fan kit with the commander pro, I also got a corsair case and a fan was included with a total of 6 fans and from my understanding the fan hub will not work?
Hi Andrew, Is it safe to use a Fan Header splitter (1 to 2) to connect to a Corsair Commander Pro and a Commander XT? Thanks!!
very well done and explained thanks lots..
How would I go connecting 9 fans for full rgb and fan speed control
Hey there so I have 9 Corsair fans, and I have a lighting node core, and a lighting node pro, as well as a commander core, is there anyway I can hook all those o together?
you helped me out so much, really helpfull! thanks
Does it works with other RGB fans with 2nd rng 4pin cable ? or it only works with corsair fans only ?
as far as adding 10 fans do we just get another commander pro?
your awesome man thanks for the vid
Thanks for watching!
So if I'm just doing this with the node and not the big commander pro than that means the fans would go pugged strait into the motherboard?
Hi Arin Peralez, Yes, you are correct, if you are just using the core node pro (or lighting node pro), the PWM power connector would go into your motherboard ports or you will need a PWM hub, which is a great reason to consider using this device, it gives you individual control over the speed of the fans.
Thanks for Watching!
@@HardwareArtisan thank you !
the case im using calls for 10 fans! any suggestions with the commander pro? How to daisy chain them?
im asking the same question
can you use 2 commander pros and just plug one into the usb header on the other pro if you dont have an extra header on your mobo?
HI Ricky, Yes, i've been able to connect two PRO's together. I've occasionally had it not recognize it when I plug it in, but this should work.
