- This problem usually occurs when summer comes to an end and people haven't run their heating for months and then decide to turn it on.
The ball valve inside the body gets stuck in hot water position and the motor doesn't have enough strength to move it and in some cases it can even burn out the motor.
This video shows how you can easily and quickly free it up and get it all working again without getting wet.
Just don't lose that circlip!
I've done similar with Regin fan oil on a couple of occasions. Worked well for me. 👍🏼
Great tip! I need this for tomorrow got a stuck 4 port spindle and was dreading draining system and swapping it! No movement and just 1 of of the dump houses you don't want to be in..
Good luck with it mate hope it works for you!
Many thanks for the information.
Am I correct in thinking the the valve only rotates around 35-40 deg. either direction, ie. from around 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock with mid position at 12 o.clock?
My previous unit would rotate a full 360 deg. in one direction only stopping at 3 positions as needed. When my old motor failed I could position it manually whereas this later valve returns to mid position when released.
I'm not sure yet what is at fault. The rads. are heating when there should only be hot water. I found that the actuator motor was very hot, and NOT from conducted heat, ie. the motor was hot to the touch even when the pipes were cold. I would be grateful for any suggestions.
Is there any danger of the valve poping completely out if you pulling to hard?
No it won't pop out, but if you tap it in too far you can lose it inside!
Is that a short fix thought wd40 rotted the seals.
Not sure if they do mate. This just lubricates the spindle to move more freely inside the body. I've also used a bit of machine oil which I find is a longer lasting fix
