  • So your radiators aren't working. If the boiler won't come on when you fire up the heating system for the first time this year but the hot water does work then most likely you have a stuck 3 port valve. In this video I go through replacing it with a new one.

Thank you for showing from the beginning to the end. I saw a video without draining the system but I am too scared to attempt that. Your method is more reassuring

Good guide. Have a look at a product called clever coupler, it turns the compression fittings on your zone valve to pump style union fittings. Makes future maintenance a lot easier especially if there's not much give on the pipes. 👍

Is it possible to have a central heating system that doesn’t have a central heating valve or pump in the system? It is a condensing boiler with a water cylinder. We can’t find the valve or pump anywhere, about to start to pull up the floor boards!!!

Combi boilers have the pump built in (and you don't need a valve).
Otherwise the pump and valve are usually together with the hot water tank (in my limited experience).
My advice would be to get a corgi registered person to come and tell you what's going on with it.

Thanks. We had a very experienced CORGI engineer come around… we looked and loked, but couldn’t the valve or pump. Thanks anyway. As mentioned it isn’t a combo.

I had one like that once. While it's drained you might consider adding a valve so you can turn it off in future (needs to be a full bore valve) Good luck.

@howtodostuffchannel I've got a red tap for central heating and there is one lower down towards the hot water tank plus one above the boiler should be able to do it with out draining hot water tank
