About Young Sheldon:

but think about it, an army of protesters cleaning the city to get the change they want
ofcourse it wil not immediatly entice government to grant them the change they want but in truth it isn't the protesters treaths or violence that enact change, it isn't fear of what they might do, it is their public support
so if a protest is done in such a way that it makes things better in itsself eventually more and more people wil sympathise with their cause,
the opposite is true for violent riots, eventually people wil hate those behind it

A kid who cleans when he's angry? Every parent's dream and nightmare. Dream that they're actually doing something productive. Nightmare in that if that wasn't Sheldon, they'd think it was some kind of alien.

@@behindmyblueeyes99 It didn't matter what Sheldon wanted to do, Mary "smothered" him too much. George was a much better parent with Sheldon. George gave equal treatment to his children. I'm sure Sheldon may have turned out differently if George hadn't passed away.

This is one of those rare instances where Mary was actually justified in being overprotective. No sane parent would ever let their 9 year old child go to a big city with a bunch of teenagers. Especially ones they've never met before. She even offered a reasonable compromise in offering to go with him just to keep an eye on things. Her only flaw here is giving in because Sheldon really needed to learn that he's not always going to get his way.
That and the fact that Sheldon wasn't finished cleaning the house.
I was watching this with my stepmom. I paused it once, looked over at her and said “Just so you know this won’t ever be me.” She sighed, shook her head sadly and replied “I know.” lol

I know it's only a tv show, and it'all for fodder, but Sheldon's parents should've given him one good backhand to the face (cheeks). God knows that if we talked tour parents like that, which we occasionally did, that is what we got, and believe me when I say, the shock factor does work.
My mom worked at a senior living center for a time, and she made some good friendships with some old ladies. One of them was just known for cleaning and tidying and organizing. Her room, the dining area, the activities areas, you name it. My mom would often talk to her cowordkers or me or other friends that she wanted to bring her home and let her lose on everything 😂
I wish I could've met her. She sounded just lovely through other peoples descriptions
I Clean when I get angry/upset/moody too. It really helps me cope and it also bothers my Family LOL 😂.

It might be weird I have done that in the past... once my mom got on my nerves because dad left for work for too long and my mom wouldn't let me go to my nanas house to get away from my sister, and so when left and uncle watched me and my sister, I got up and cleaned the whole house out of anger until I passed out... I woke up with my mom hella happy but I was still mad that I was stuck in the house I hated and I haven't seen my dad for weeks. It's been a long time and this episode always makes me laugh
The way he said, "I don't care!" let me know that he really was angry!

My daughter would clean the house when she was grounded to try to get out of trouble. It usually worked cause she did a really good job.
This makes it very clear and obvious that Sheldon was babied and favored by his mom. Missy was right and I know Sheldon's dad wanted too say something but backed off. From when he was a little boy until an adult he always got his way and acted like a brat. But yes it's his mother's fault. She absolutely ignored missy and treated Sheldon like a little titty baby. The younger Sheldon in my opinion wasn't adorable he was very very annoying and a snitch. Great show though!!

She was being very reasonable. No sane mother is going to let her 9 year old son go to a city like Houston unsupervised with a bunch of teenagers. Especially ones she has never met before. She even offered a compromise to go with him if he wanted to see the movie really bad.
Whether Mary is right/fair or not is NOT the point. The point is that she is still responsible for what happens to her children. It is her call whether Sheldon goes on the trip, not Sheldon's call. It is also totally irrelevant whether he likes it or not. Parents have been telling their kids things they don't like to hear for thousands of years. Besides, he may be book smart, but he is not life smart.

Heck, when I wasn't old enough to drive, my parents would take me and drop me off wherever it was my friends were, if they couldn't pick me up. Sheldon was just being bratty by not letting Mary take him to meet up with his friends. None of my friends ever gave me grief for having a parent drop me off: it was what we did in the 1980's.
