I love Robert, I honestly credit him for helping save Metallica after their lowest point in their career during the St. Anger era (I loved St. Anger btw). I think Rob helping encourage them to return to their roots from Death Magnetic forward, I remember hearing that he's responsible for Metallica playing songs live that they haven't played in years like "Call Of Cthulu". Rob is just a down to earth dude, such a loveable personality and he's a freaking beast on the bass! My love for Metallica will never die!
Experience has shown that it's useful to listen to every song 5 times then walk away for a day or two. After that, the songs will either have a chance to sink in, or they don't. I haven't been through every song 5 times yet, but I'm starting to like ones that didn't grab me at first. At least that's what works for me. YMMV. Pop songs usually work the first time, and then they are hateable after 5 listens.
Very good point. I was underwhelmed with the albums first listen earlier today. I couldn't tell differences between the songs because I thought everything was too samey. I thought the songs lacked the character, different pacings and dynamics that say, side 1 of Hardwired.. had. I thought they outstayed welcome with repetitious riffs that did'nt differ enough from song to song. This was hammered home by Kirk ReLoading the same wah wah solo everywhere, which after the great odyssey he took with his solo EP last year was a big let down. But thats gonna change. I want and think its going to grow on me, as watching vids like this zero in on things I missed initially. But I dont see my opinion on the track length changing. The songs for the most part are too long for their own good, and could do with some tempo changes, perhaps some more clean tone stuff involved to characterize them up a bit.
Same! when I first listened to Hardwired, my mind could not make any sense of the songs. you need to construct a model in your mind before you can fully enjoy it, like learning a language.
Your last line is very fitting. Pop songs are catchy, but then easily easily forgotten or you just despise them. I find that a lot of metal songs, on the other hand, aren't fully appreciated until you've listened to them a few times so the intricacies and complexities really settle in.

its awesome that you are doing this reaction, im always looking forward to them, i was doing a search earlier but saw you hadnt uploaded it yet haha i was eager to see, here you are !! rock on
This boils down to fans who want pre 1991 Metallica back and fans who love all/most of their entire discography. The latter group loves the whole album. The former group is feeling meh. There’s something on this album for everybody though. Me personally I love most of the album. Some songs Kirk isn’t utilizing melody enough for my liking and Lars uses similar patterns like usual, but the riffing and singing from James is amazing
I love this one, I feel like its just super different for Metallica in a way, more Rock which is a great thing at times. I think itll grow on ya more over time.
Agreed and hearing Corrosion Of Conformity in Inamorata, which is my absolute fave on "72" one of Metallica's best songs in the past 25 years or so..in my opinion of course..Sleepwalk is a "sleeper" hit..had to do it 😂
In the theater this song kind of bored me but I'll tell ya, when I was blasting this album while driving today, I was headbanging to this one a lot, grew on me for sure.
I know people shit on Kirk's solos but I love when he uses blues style licks in his solos. I am a sucker for that shit. Sure he gets repetitive but I still appreciate him.
Phenomenal song, Rob kicks ass 🤟, especially beginning and instrumental part. I see they put a video today for this song so it isn't like they did with hardwired videos, we have just lyric videos except singles and this song. You ll check You must burn later it is similar to sad but true, dream no more style.
So I first listened to the album on my tv, big mistake to start out. Then I decided to play it on the radio in my truck on the way to work to give it a proper listen and when this song came on all I could say was this was a jam, especially with the volume cranked all the way up.
If someone was to ask me right now what was my favourite Metallica song it would be the last one I had listened to that's why it's so hard to pick a favourite. :-) :-) I feel like a kid in the candy store no matter what I pick I'm going to like it...
I thought this was one of the weaker songs on the album first listen same with crown of barbwire but after 3 full album listens I just love the whole damn thing inamorata too far gone room of mirrors and screaming suicide are my favs
This is a very similar album to the previous one, of course. A lot of Heavy stuff and loud bass, especially the bass intro in this song is awesome. Love it so much. But this album is a bit better. But I don't even know why. 😉🤘
I started following you when Hardwired was released. Reactor hopping until the metal heads come home is really fun stuff! Thus far, as a whole, I'm liking this album more than ...Hardwired To Self Destruct. Thanks! Good to see you again! 👊🤘 I'm predicting you're gonna like "Chasing Light."
Rob and James fucking owned this album. Kirks work was tenacious and serviceable (better than hardwired but his era of timeless solos is long gone) and Lars was Lars and was definitely the albums biggest flaw
Yeah it's a shame because Lars has so many interesting drum parts in their past songs but seems he phones it in a lot these days, maybe a bit of laziness. Lots of the songs still crush though
@@Froggeth81 Right! I want Lars from AJFA back. I actually love the Black Album but do believe it was the beginning of the end of Lars’ drumming creativity
@@brandonpoland177 Yeah AJFA was probably peak Lars, Black Album is awesome really don't get the hate, aside from the couple of 'radio' singles I guess. I really like Load too and think Lars has some good stuff on that album, especially Outlaw Torn which is just an incredible track anyway.
Metallica has gotten really good with the changeups in their songs, the transitions are very smooth much like Judas Priest Iron Maiden the songs don't get too repetitive it's like songs within songs. :-) :-) metal rules

I really love the Chorus man.. the chord changes in there are so catchy. overall this is probably one of the best albums they've ever written :D
Its awesome how music can hit people so much different. Cause in the Theater that Verse had me smiling ear to ear... I love this damn song lol
its killer rhythm section its very nice

Sleepwalk my wife 😂😂 trust me, I got up in the early hours of the morning too, just because of this album! Totally worth the 5 month wait my man! 🤘🏻
Yes sir!! Another great song!!

This album takes two listens to really enjoy all the music, trust me this will grow on you 1000X
Yup. It's a grower.

I was happy my prediction was right on it.
Yes one of my favorite of the album...but at first I said what is this after the second lisen wow what a great great song awesome..speechless 🤘🤘
@@ChainsawReacts That, Chasing light, Room of Mirrors and Too Far Gone are damn catchy too!
Yes, it is an epic song, I'd venture to say one of the best they've ever written.
@@ChainsawReacts my fav is Chasing Lights
Riff sounds like Man UNkind
It bugs me that the album is 77 minutes long and not 72! 😂
This is the kind of song I've always wanted to write. metal with grunge elements - I like it.
everyone in that band has grown musically and vocally james sounds really clear good sounded similar to iron maiden kinda vocals
I love this one, I feel like its just super different for Metallica in a way, more Rock which is a great thing at times. I think itll grow on ya more over time.
Awesome songs ..I love all the songs
Inamorata…. Wow !!!
I am still laughing with that "Sleepwalk my wife..." at the end.
Love your reactions! ❤👌🤘
I will never live it down.
Ive never been a fan of fastbstuff but this album riffs are just so damn good to not pass up
Great Intro, Great Pre-Chorus, Great Chorus
Needs a new main riff and needs to introduce that intro bass line back into the song
There's a little bit of an Alice in chains vibe with this song
Dude I said the same thing when I was watching global premiere. Exactly
I can actually hear a bit of Nirvana, more specifically Aneurysm at the beginning

Agree! "We die young" vibes.
metallica is Metallica
I had the same feeling the first time around by the 3rd or 4th time i was straight feeling this song epsecially after knowing the lyrics
I love this song. 10000000 / 100

Load/reload vibe with this one

My first reaction of this song reminded me more of "murder one" for the slow/moderate tempo
This album slappss(pun intended) nah wait ri listen inamorata through last track on the album it is awesome

Sleepwalk my wife away.....gold😂😂😂😂😂

Let's goo!!!
I love this song! One of the surprises of the album so Grunge “Alice in Chains” great intro, prechorus, chorus and outro.
thank you bro
These been such absolute bangers personally inamorata is the best from the album🤘🏻
Easily one of the grooviest songs on the album and I love James voice on this song probably the most

Naaaa, the Black álbum is super heavy
Yeah that chord is chunky man
This song is obviously built on the foundation of Enter Sandman.
Wait a sec, is now that we're dead your least fav song of HTSD!?!😮

The intro sounds like the bass riff of the song kerosene by burn the priest

But the verse kinda generic, yeah
Still can’t get into this one.
