unpopular opinion: my favourite track of the record. And I love (almost) all of them. The vocal melodies are absolute perfection. And the fat and heavy riffs complete this amazing song!
I discovered your channel because of Hardwired, never subscribed but I saw your videos nevertheless and got excited with you. Now that my feed is drowning with 72 Seasons, your channel comes back to me, and it's just like it was in 2016: a wonderful musical experience.
This one has grown on me a lot! I feel a lot of these songs grew on me with my 2nd listen. God I hope when I see em live next year they play the entire album on both nights. :) Also hey buddy! 😄
I learned my lesson. Will never watch another reaction video from anyone else. All they do is hate on metallica. Chainsaw gets into it and appreciates every song. Fuck yea chainsaw!!!

another heavy and groove track from 72 seasons, love it! This album is growing on me, riffs are amazing on that one.... love your reactions! Greetings from Poland ;)
When I first heard this song at 4:49 gave me King Nothing vibes, even down to the solo. Its almost that this is a sequal to King Nothing hence the name "Crown of Barbed Wire".
I didn't like this song at first, then when I woke up this morning I found myself humming the "this rusted empire I own" part without even realizing it.
late to watching these but this was my favorite one outside the singles, was waiting to watch this video! been with ya since hardwired man, keep it up! (cant wait for the live reactions to these songs!)
The explanation James gives on SiriusXM is that the song is about him being really full of himself or really down, so I think the decision to sing "Wire" that way was following the music and the theme of how we all lie to ourselves about certain things. Honestly, the songs I didn't care for initially have grown on me instantly. It's so satisfying because very few if any performers can do this so expertly and the modern tech era has proven that so many times in recent years.
@@ChainsawReacts and man, I fucking loves your reactions, since “hardwired to self destruct” album, and also “what the dead man say”. You are the coolest. Respect from Ukraine
The main riff where like the strings are getting slightly bent and twisted, adding a cool dissonance reminded me of something like Soundgarden's "Fell on Black Days". It doesnt sound like the song at all, but that riff sounds great when played back to back with the main riff to Cornell's Classic itself. I like Hetfield's take on the pronouncation of "Wire". It sounds theatrical, in character, it adds to the snidely swagger of the song. And the song doesnt overdo its time limit, which is a general constructive critique given to the album at present.
Watching you react to this song made me notice that there's some 'wasted'? riffs in this song. The fast little one they play in the middle of the main riff, and the one in the ending both could have been a bigger part of the song to make it a little more varied. That being said, there's not a single bad song in this album. Just some stuff that could've been different but i'm definitely grateful they're still making great new music
Metallica was heavily influenced by spaghetti western arrangements IE Ecstasy of Gold. So anytime I hear a western sound in his vocals it makes me smile. Also, anyone else notice that Kirk added a “Last Dance with Maryjane” Easter egg in the solo?
Chainsaw… my band is called BATTERY, the one that opened for METALLICA in 98 for the Garage Inc tour.. I wasn’t there then… find us! I am TAKING THIS MUSIC TO OUR STAGE to celebrate this amazing band! We play central and eastern US year round

4:01 the way James says "real" just always makes me think of Van Halen's Running With the Devil "no love you call re-yal" 😂 Also love this track, and the way he says "wiiire" I think is great, first time I heard it it caught my attention and I was like "okay that's interesting I dig it" haha
Definitely heavy riffage, lots of grooving in the pocket. Not my favorite song from the album but it still hits like a truck. Love the heavy riff at the end with a quick key change up and then back down to the low crunch to finish it off... that's how you properly end a song.
It's my best on the album. When I first listened to the album, I was disappointed. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. There are several good riffs.
The amount of times he mentions the wire part and mimics it EVERYTIME kinda ruined the reaction. Point it out once, we get it, but to harp on it is annoying
Probably one of the weakest out of the tracklist, love the riffs but the vocal melodies are what get me, especially the lyrics, just describing a rusty crown of barbed wire lol
The journey continues! Super Thanks are appreciated! Check out my reaction playlist for this album! ruclips.net/p/PLhKj_eSYs0ttEAQdumg3cYYxboSEbQZB7

The way he says "wire" is my favorite part of the whole piece, it's got so much stank on it. Loving these videos man.

8:25 : Only Metallica can chug a riff that hard. Makes you feel like a hammer hit you in the face.
this final riff is insanely awesome
very very short part, i'm sad.
@@anotherlife6334 Too much, maybe in the shows they will increase it, because it would be amazing!
Extremely heavy
My favourite thing about this song is James' vocal performance. He wasn't afraid to show his age and vulnerability. You can feel his emotion.

I liked the sabbatish riff right after James singing “barbed wiiire..”. Nice and heavy song, really digging it too.
