    This happened to me. What happened was the filament swapping left a broken piece of filament. The piece was located below the 2 gears before the hotend. It was a simple fix for me. 1 month later my printer nozzle leaked from the thread. It was stuck on and even when heated was stuck. I asked ankermake for a replacement and they sent one about 10 days later. When I got the replacement I installed it. It's been 3 months and now it's doing fine. Just takes some adjustments. Keep in mind this is the ankermake m5 I am talking about. I have no clue what it's like with the M5c. Funny to think my ankermake is printing right now and it has a minor layer shift of about 0.1 millimeter.

      Same thing here on my original M5. I finally have her printing beautifully again but I just don't trust her. Took 2 months of tuning and who knows how may firmware updates. But it Is working for how long who knows.

      Update: 42 hours of prints later she is running pretty good. I am running PTEG on it now and should have my finding shortly.
      UPDATE: After 4th Failure of the stepper motor. Ankermake has sent me a packing label to return for their analysis. After first advising the same thing I did of sending just the stepper motor. Stating they may not have any "in-stock", But upon receiving my FULL PRINTER back they will send out another one to me. Smh.

      @lolyouwontfindme6070 new Unit been here few days. I went on a all out printing rampage on this thing to see if I had just a bad unit. So far so good with the new unit. It came missing the press fitted PTFE clip on the spool holder that connects the PTFE guide tube from the spool to the hotend. Other then that 50 hours of prints done so far. I am in the middle of a repeat print of the Hades Bust that failed from layer shifting from he bed wheels too tight. Hopefully it will make it this time.

    Mine had the same issue, one week in. Printing with PETG and the extruder started clicking and stopped extruding. Wouldn't retract, either. I followed AM's directions to pull filament out of the gears, then tried to do the same for the hot end, but the filament broke off flush with the tube, so that's that. Waiting to hear back from AnkerMake.

      They shipped me out a replacement hot end -- due to arrive tomorrow. I thought I had fixed the problem by using a heat gun and paper clip to clear the filament tube, but I think I fried the strain gauge in the process. Filament extrudes and retracts, but auto-level doesn't work. I'll try the new hot end, and if that doesn't work, the whole unit's going back to Amazon.@@3DandTeePrinting

      @BladeLabMiami I am EXTREMELY jealous at you right now. They REFUSED to send me Just the stepper motor or even the hotend. This was after days of back and forth with them to just tell me I can send the motor back and get a replacement. They said "......To improve the experience of our product, the defective M5C needs to be returned back to us so our product engineers can analyze it and discover why this happened. Attached is the return label for the defective merchandise; please affix this label to the return packaging and drop it off at any local USPS ParcelShop. Please inform us once you ship it out." The tale of 2 cities as the saying goes.
      Oh and the new unit is missing the PTFE connection on the spool on the replacement unit. So I can't use THE PTFE guide tube and I am running my filament old school naked in the air to the hotend. They asked if I wanted to send THIS one back too. Smdh

    • @BladeLabMiami
      @BladeLabMiami Год назад +1

      Huh, that's weird. I had a totally different experience -- and honestly a really good one! I told them I thought I needed a new hot end and they said, fine, and shipped one out priority mail. I was thinking they were just going to send me the nozzle unit, but today I received a package with the WHOLE hot end module. Installed in 5 minutes and it's as good as new. Knock on wood it stays that way for a while.@@3DandTeePrinting

    • @idea999
      @idea999 9 месяцев назад

      Printing with petg is tricky because most printers will suffer from heat creep in the hot end if it’s not designed right. If you get a clog then turn the heat up to max temp and that will soften any stuck filament.

    • @3DandTeePrinting
      @3DandTeePrinting  9 дней назад

      @davidsnyder-t5e We are happy to hear your experiences are more fruitful than ours. That's what everyone is trying to get. A printer that prints reliably.
      Sometimes, these failures happen when you buy the "Launch version" of a printer. It took them some time, but they MAY have fixed both the M5 and M5C
      BUT the question I have for you is....
      What new innovations has Ankermake come up with to keep them going as a brand since August of 2023?
      That's why I left this and the other old video up.
      Until they change their company's strategies of continuing to act like a kickstarter and not a multi-million dollar industry like their Multi-billion Dollar Parent company, that wouldn't give them at start up or any continuation funding, ANKER.
      We can't rightly endorse ANKERMAKE as a brand just like their own ownership refused to do.
      Again, If you have one and it's working, that is the goal of every maker. A working printer.
      For the other hundreds of people who bought one like myself who got a "Beta Like" version for the first year, horrible customer service and gave away or sold theirs to move on to something more reliable. I think we have to say this Channel is Not a Fan of Ankermake.
      Not trying to disrespect your personal printer. Just would like the consumers and you to get some respect from ANKERMAKE as a paying consumers. As an owner of both their models and former V6 backer of ANKERMAKE, I feel strongly on this. Just as you do on your defense of your personal printer.
      Happy Printing and sorry for the rant.

      @kennethhamilton5323 Maybe or maybe I got 3 bad units back to back. One with Bad Extruder, One with Bad Main board, and newest replacement unit....Power Supply FAN barrings and Extruder (again).
      Strange that Evryone, Elegoo, Naga, Polymaker, Kingroon, Sainsmart, Prusament, Overture, Mika3d, Bambu, and Polyterra ALL work fine in my other 27 printers but the Ankermake M5C. They even all work on the M5 I have as well. I gave it 3 chances (Gone through THREE M5C machines now). I am done with the M5C and the Ankermake as a brand itself. They have made TONs of promises and met NONE of them. If you want some prime examples:
      The V6 Color Engine (Cancelled after 18 month wait and using the GO FUND ME funds to make the M5C instead of a USEABLE color engine.
      The M5 all metal hotend (Pulled from Shelves due to clogging)
      The Ankermake 3D scan maker (Never Launched or talked about again accept on THEIR roadmap for 2023 and 2024) which NOTHING has been done on that roadmap on THEIR site.
      The M5C "touch screen" upgrade option that doesn't do anything but display temps and progress (not a real UI just a display for $50.
      The Cooling fan (Heat creep issues) ventilation (Ankermake Launched a New Printhead cover to correct the issue but told no one WHY.)
      Almost 2 years in and the AI spaghetti detection STILL doesn't work on the M5.
      I have more then 40,000 hours of printing under my belt across 8 brand. I personally will NEVER buy another Ankermake (won't have to worry about that when they finally close the division of ANKER in 2025. You heard it here first)
      If yours are working great. I would go buy a lottery ticket because your one of the lucky ones.

I put at least 80 hours into 7 Full hotend disassemblies, 4 Complete Extruder Motor Teardowns and reassembling, 12 Benchys, 22 other print attempts, and I lost count of how many NEW firmware updates after 5th one.
      BUT......The new unit they sent has a completely different extruder motor from the launch day one I got originally. I guess they figured out the issue and changed the motors for the next batch. Make sure you dry the roll really good to get rid of stringing and make smoother walls. My print temp for TPU is 235, the roll says 230 is max but you can even go 240 I like 235 tho. Waiting for the Neptune 4 MAX. I do agree about the Neptune 4 being a great printer. I only bought this to see if Ankermake redeemed themselves after all yhe issues my M5 started having after 3 months. Still working out all the bugs on this "BEGINNER FRIENDLY BUDGET PRINTER." smdh. Finally got it back printing though. Video coming soon. Sadly I could never get my hands on a Neptune 3 Max all year till now but might as well wait for the 4 max with the 4's being really great printers. Currently my Large Build printer is the Anycubic Kobra Max.

    this seems like user errors

      Would be if It was. But Ankermake deemed this one "Defective" after 28 days of back and forth troubleshooting. I have since got the replacement unit and even though it prints, it is very inconsistent compared to my other 19 printers that have NOT had this issue on them. Being closed source hard to diagnose the root cause myself along with Ankermake. Happy Printing.

    Seems to be more of a compilation of user-errors.

      On the Belts in this video sure. But it's Interesting. I wonder why Ankermake deemed the last 2 machines to have faulty extruder motors and therefore defective. The newest one has a completely different new manufacturers motor on the extruder now. The 3rd unit (2nd replacement) we have now, the power supply is going up on it. Hmmmmm. Maybe your right and Ankermake is wrong.

      My REPLACEMENT unit has been decent. I wouldn't say bulletproof but worth what I paid for it. Happy Printing.

      399 but YEAH. Reached out to Ankermake last night awaiting their response.
      UPDATE: ANKERMAKE has asked me to send the unit back for their analysis. Upon receiving it they will ship out a replacement one.

      Obnoxious? YEAH probably. Your not the first to say so. Biased? NEVER!! I own all brands and hold no favors with any of them. We also own EVERY Ankermake printer and we were early kickstarter backers of the M5 and V6 in 2022. (V6 now discontinued aling with All Metal Hotend). To this day the M5C can't be consistent and We are on our 2ND replacement unit. The M5 is hit or miss. I can't and will not recommend this brand to someone. If you want them they are up for Sale as a combo deal on facebook marketplace for $450 for the PAIR only. I spent over $1000 on the pair that's not including all the replacement parts (fans, belts, hotend, Ptfe tubing etc). I had to order it all myself when Ankermake took 28 days to finally allow for the 1st replacement unit (30 day money back guarantee). No money back for that. Just a new unit TWICE. YOU can decide for yourself how good they are. But with 1 year of chaos with the M5 firmware issues and 8 months of hardly working always broken M5C yeah I see why it's CRINGY but not in the way YOU would say it. Thanks for the comment though.
