    I still don't understand how they think they can mess with my plan mid-renewal that I prepaid a year in advance. The yearly prepayment renewal was made from a prior yearly about 2 months before HBO MAX became MAX. MAX isn't bad but it's not insanely great either.

    My biggest issue with most streaming services is their UI. Netflix and Max are the only ones that seem to get the UI and UX down nice. Prime makes me feel like I'm at a flea market in China where everyone is trying sell me shit or trick me in to buying something. Hulu, though that made some changes that are nice recently, never tracks my shows properly and is constantly having service issues.
    When I pop on a streaming service its because my brain is off, or I want it to be off. I don't like UX that makes that difficult to accomplish.

    Great video, Michael! FYI, if you highlight a show in Continue Watching and hold down the button for a couple seconds, it will ask you if you want to delete it. That said, I love Max. I've had the ad-supported version for the past year, like you said it's not bad. But next week I'm switching to the ad-free annual plan for $149, as you pointed out, a 20% savings. I canceled my Hulu, I'm losing Peacock, so Max and Paramount are the only 2 paying streams I need. 🙂👌

    I did not subscribe, but I did get a free trial. I found a few shows I really liked. I don't mind ads, I figure it's just commercials like regular TV networks. My problem and why I would not pay for this app is because on all the different shows I watched, once the commercial was over, the app would freeze there, but you could hear the show sound. At first I just would restart the app. But I finally figured out I could do a tiny fast forward to get it to go again. I'm using an Amazon fire TV by insignia. I don't know what caused the freeze, but it happened almost every single time at the end of the commercial breaks. Very irritating! Needless to say, I canceled my subscription.

    Don't get this! I paid for a full year only to find after about a month they canceled my subscription. So I had to go back to Apple and say it appears that Max has canceled my subscription because it said I had to make a new one! Even after I already paid them for a year! So Apple had to refund my year's subscription back to me! Why this happened I have no idea but thank goodness Apple refunded my money.

I didn’t find much more on MAX that I haven’t seen, or was interested in watching, so I canceled my MAX subscription. I might subscribe again someday, and if I do, I will choose the cheaper With Ads subscription.

    Personally I am probably going to get rid of it. I have had HBO for a while now, NONE of the the new content interests me. Reality TV is trash in my opinion, I remember when Discovery was a science chanel with actually educational content. I read that the subscription price is going up for us existing HBO customers. I refuse to pay more for content I would not watch for free, let alone have to watch comercials.

    The price structure is the same as Netflix, so I can't call it out of line in that way.

    It's somewhat disappointing that they only include a small bit of the Discovery Plus content.

    • @phillylady
      @phillylady 11 месяцев назад +2

      I’m not sure why they decided to go with the Netflix price structure. For those of us who had HBO or HOB MAX before, it feels as though we’re getting less for the money when the made the decision to only have 4K for its highest tier. I usually do annual subscription, but now I’m undecided as to whether I’ll just subscribe for a limited time to watch the programs I do like. I quit Netflix for the same reason, but I do believe HBO has a superior content to Netflix.

    Thanks for this video Michael. I'm considering replacing one of my Prime Channels, MGM+ with MAX. Apparently I'd get the mid tier, $15.99 with no 4K. MAX is nearly three times the cost of MGM+. And I've already watched Game of Thrones twice LOL. My biggest beef with original series is that too many of them are apparently produced for women, as the majority of their audience is women :(. I've found exceptions. Among them are Vikings on Prime and Billy the Kid on MGM+. Still. I'll be watching Thursday night football tonight.
