I love how the strongest and deepest voice does the Davy Jones theme: as if there is so much rage at Calypsos betrayal. Yet the kinder, gentler voice is singing Hoist the Colors, the story of Calypso herself being betrayed. It paints the picture that, despite Jones being angry and vengeful, his kinder and softer side still harbors guilt of his own. Its quite interesting and im probabling looking way too it.
I think you're spot on! Will even catches on this too by basically realizing that Jones tore out his heart after betraying Calypso, meaning that it was done for both his own heartbreak and because he couldn't handle the guilt.

my character is a Theatre performer from beyond the material plane. she performs in a troop which recreate History as a form of art, be it the most beautiful love story, the most misbegotten chimaera brought unto the world, or the most dreadful collapse of a civilisation. for them/ her, neither madness nor sanity exist, just a wave of pure and perfect existence, brought by a savage wave of raw emotions and moment-to-moment impulses.
and this song juices my brain like a V8, such beautiful emotions, such intense shifts from innocence to unbridled rage to maddening despair. my question is the following:
Would you mind if i borrowed this song cover to create a scene for my character? non profit use, of course, only amongst friends, in a closed circle (albeit less closed now that i have talked openly about it, granted), with only me as user of said cover, and none else.

couldnt hear much from hoist the colors tho. but thats good even both these songs are extremely good but if they were mixed both loud and clear to hear that would have been just tragic in a bad way lol. in the end i see no point of mixing VOCALS of both songs. instrumentals - yes. vocals - no.
@@roxydzey Its meant to be part of the background, only called to attention if you're listening for it. You arent able to mix vocals at equal volume at the same time, it would just be a mess. The point is that Davy Jones' perception of Calypso is in the forefront, while Calypso's own feelings are taking a back seat.

This is why i love davy jones, he's equal parts villainous and equal parts broken
He loved calypso and gave up his heart for her but she never return the love back, she was never there for jones.... she only cursed him to forever roam the seas for all eternity aboard his cursed ship the Dutchman, never to make shore and forever seeking freedom
And you two perfectly gave davy jones a spotlight that made him shine...not as a hurtful, vengeful cursed pirate but a man just seeking love
It was originally Jones that assembled the Pirate Brethren and imprisoned Calypso in the form of a Human woman, in an act of vengeance against her betrayal. But Jones still loved her entirely, and was so full of guilt and remorse that that is when he removed his own heart and locked it away in the dead man's chest.
Through imprisoning Calypso, Jones just imprisoned himself too, he became so full of bitterness and self pity over what he did to her, he could just never let her go. It wasn't until the very end that Calypso found out it was Jones that had her imprisoned, and in turn she released her fury as goddess of the sea.

The artwork is stunning, and the song was a very pleasant surprise. I love the original song by Fialeja and this is a perfect cover. The underlying lyrics from "Hoist the Colors" were a great touch. Instant LIKE, and I'm so happy to see you fabulous ladies back together again!
Omg this is so haunting and captivating. I couldn't help but picture Davy Jones alone at their organ, softly singing the start and slowly slipping into the past where they had experienced a passionate romance as tumultuous as the sea. And after the crescendo, they crashed back to the present and like waves receding into the shoreline (very symbolic background btw) and it all felt like a faraway dream. Yet, that love and pain and fragile hope lingered in their heart...

I opened another tab and put on quiet ocean waves at 0:37, and thunder at 1:13.
I picture a movie each time I listen to this cover; bits of complex animations showing a story.
I see a heartbroken, ocean-dwelling woman, sought out on a vengeful path of claiming the souls of pirates and sailors to calm her thirst for blood after the murder of her soulmate.
Her soulmate's appearances in her dreams give a promise of reunion, but ultimately, never happens; only forever hearing her sing. Her spirit lays unrest, and her attempts to guide her bleeding heart into healing leave the both of them helpless, never again to reunite.
At 2:35, I can picture the human form of the ocean woman, sitting in front of an antique vanity, slowly brushing her hair as she sings the song haunting her dreams, holding back tears. She closes her eyes, and once again, can hear the spirit's voice like a distant memory, all the while the music box slowly comes to an end.
You and Lacey are my favorite duo, every time I see that you made a video together I know it’s going to be amazing! Your voices just fit so nicely together, it’s like taking two things that are amazing on their own and adding them together to make something even more spectacular!
