I agree, his version sounds a bit more sad to me because it sounds like two people have a forbidden love and was separated from each other. Wanting to be together again.
This song is so tragic because it really show why Jones was so cruel in the movies. He was just a man who fell in love with the goddess of the ocean, and because of his love of her he became the ferryman of the dead because a mortal couldn't be with a goddess. By performing his duty he was allowed to be with her but only for 1 day every 10 years. To any normal human this would be unbearable but Calypso was immortal and now Jones was too, to her 10 years was nothing but a blip. Jones on the other hand was still thinking like a man and not an immortal so when she wasn't there he couldn't take it and cut out his heart. By removing his heart he could no longer feel any emotion, no love, happiness, joy, sorrow, or anger, he got rid of what made him human and embraced becoming part of the ocean, becoming the monster that the sailors tales said he was. He became as cold and unforgiving as the sea itself. Calypso hurt him and he tore out his heart, but he never gave up hope completely so the only way to kill him was to truly and permanently "break" his heart.
I'm sad for Davy Jones. I think he is not hates from Jack. But he is sad because of his love and he can't be good after these situations. I love Jones✌♥🙏
Jones never hated Jack, in fact the only people he was ever truly angry at were himself and Calypso, he hated himself for trusting her and devoting everything he had to be in a relationship with her, and he's pissed with Calypso because she didn't even have the decency to uphold her end of the deal, to meet him once every 10 years. Understandably this caused him to fly into a rage not unlike that of Darth Vader, hating his own circumstances due to his own poor judgement and feeling betrayed by the one he trusted the most. Jones has every right to be as angry and outright villainous as he is in the films as he has been around for 4 Bretheren Courts life times, that's roughly 300 to 400 years of pent up hate. When he finally confronts Calypso about why she didn't meet him, and she acted as if it wasn't a big deal, that was his breaking point, he no longer cared for anyone or anything and was ready to wipe out the rest of the pirates if need be. However once Calypso found out Jones was the one who showed the first court how to bind her to human form, when Jones died and fell into the maelstrom, as punishment by Calypso, he was sent to the locker. But we all know you can escape the locker if you're crafty enough, and I do recall shipwrecks from Barbosa's crew still remaining there. My theory is Jones found a dingy in-tact enough to ride to the seas, and when the time was right, he'd return to the world of the living, as we saw in the post-credits scene of Pirates 5, Jones clearly holds a grudge against Will for some odd reason when Jack was the one who killed him. But with the whole Johnny Depp situation I doubt we'll ever see a proper conclusion to this. The only real way I see this movie happening is if Depp wins both the Virgina trial and his UK appeal but well to quote Barbosa "Aye, but that's a gamble of long odds."

2:37 wow. I was going to say it sounds nothing much different than the duet of fialeja and man on the internet but damn. This last sequence is everything. No words. Wow.
I just found this video yesterday and I have lost count of how many times I've re-listened to it. Great job and great bass voice. If they ever make a Pirates of the Caribbean the Musical, y'all should be cast for Tia Dalma and Davy Jones.
My god I just randomly stumbled across this and I AM IN LOVE! IT IS SO GOOD! Their love story was so tragic especially after Calypso discovered that Davy Jones was the one who showed the Brethren Court how to bind her to human form.
Ok but... both your voices are beautiful and I need MORE! I’ve listened to this at least ten times in a row the first time I heard it. Your voice is so unique and angelic and Biggs voice is so baritone and hypnotic. A lovely duet! 🥺💕💕💕
Is it bad i imagined this out on tortuga bay on a moonlit night, tia dalma stood alone on the pier with a single 3 masted ship stood off. She's singing out into the night and he is stood on the prow singing back to her? 3:15 As he and the crew sings that last bit the ship goes full sail and sinks into the darkness his voice still resounding as it disappears beneath the waves.
Titanic: *sinks* Davey Jones: I'm gonna need a bigger boat... But seriously, if the Captain of the Flying Dutchman is immortal and tends to the souls lost at sea who then serve for a century, what happens when there is no more room for more souls? What happened when ships got larger in the age of Iron ships? You could probably crew a sailing ship twice over with Titanic dead alone! Not to mention all the sailors lost in navel conflicts. I NEED ANWSERS!!!
When Davy Jones picks up lost souls that died at sea, they get to decide whether or not to serve on the Dutchman. He asks them "Do you fear death?" If they fear what happens after life, then they can postpone their "judgement" and instead serve as part of the crew for 100 years. After that 100 years, I believe they then proceed to wherever souls go normally (the movies weren't particularly clear on that). So as long as you don't fear dying, then you don't have to worry about ending up as part of Davy Jones' crew. With the number of people that died in the titanic sinking there would probably be quite a few that would theoretically be willing to serve on the Flying Dutchman for 100 years instead of passing on immediately. But, not everyone would choose to do so I'd imagine XD
I imagine that it would be similar to the mythology that Rick Riordan built into his Percy Jackson series. In that as the ages passed the gods changed because peoples perception of them changed. So to would the Dutchman. And her captain. In my personal opinion as the centuries turned upon the wheel of time, and peoples impressions of ships changed the Dutchman would grow and gradually change shape until it resembled a great steam liner from the golden age of steam. Even if only in size. Still aged to the point of looking like it has set on the bottom of the sea for ages but instead of seaweed and moss, it would be rust and rot.
@@TheJokerX94 It would be rather impressive wouldn't it. Of course another route it could take is that as the centuries pass, and the Dutchman grows it adds parts from sunken vessels to its own mass. So imagine it, the 1st world war happens and suddenly the Dutchman has to rapidly expand so it grafts itself to the wreckage of say, The Olympic, or even one of the first generation aircraft carriers. Then A few years later during World War 2 it adds on more mass. By the time the modern era rolls around it is practically a aquatic traction city, like in Mortal Engines.

2:37 wow. I was going to say it sounds nothing much different than the duet of fialeja and man on the internet but damn. This last sequence is everything. No words. Wow.
I am glad we could make a difference
@@Myriani you really have. It's so stunningly beautiful. And I'm so glad I discovered your channel because of this song! 💜
This definitely sounds like the song of Davy Jones.
Mission Complete!
@@Myriani The animation also fits the music and the song.
I just found this video yesterday and I have lost count of how many times I've re-listened to it. Great job and great bass voice. If they ever make a Pirates of the Caribbean the Musical, y'all should be cast for Tia Dalma and Davy Jones.
Such high regards! I am so happy that you enjoy our cover so much, thank you!
Actually a POTC musical just might work
My god I just randomly stumbled across this and I AM IN LOVE! IT IS SO GOOD! Their love story was so tragic especially after Calypso discovered that Davy Jones was the one who showed the Brethren Court how to bind her to human form.
I'm glad you like our cover! welcome welcome, a nice treat to have stumbled upon indeed. their story is certainly a well written dynamic.
its bc she wasn't there.. 🙁
I can feel the pain and heartache Davy must’ve felt . You guys should’ve been on the official soundtrack 🥺❤️
Дрожь по коже. Напишу по русски, грамматику английскую подзабыл. Спасибо вам ребята, супер, слёзы на глазах ..
😎😍😘
Who knew my co-tank and raid healer had such amazing voices.
oop cat is out of the bag!!!
Oops I pulled a sneaky on ya lol
O.O ?
YOU RAID?!?!?!?!?!?!
This is phenomenal! Your voices are angelic and the harmonies are lovely
Thank you! The harmonies are definitely my favorite part of the creative process.
Ok but... both your voices are beautiful and I need MORE! I’ve listened to this at least ten times in a row the first time I heard it. Your voice is so unique and angelic and Biggs voice is so baritone and hypnotic. A lovely duet! 🥺💕💕💕
Aaw Thank you so so much! We are definitely working on new covers together so watch out!
@@Myriani YEAY!! 😆👏👏👏✨
Okay this may sound fake but i was picturing something similar too!
Man, just reading that gave ma that scene in my head, damn.
Titanic: *sinks*
Davey Jones: I'm gonna need a bigger boat...
He sends the ones not willing to the depths
@@HadrianRavencroft that would be such an amazing concept to see, different variants of the flying dutchman through time to suit it's era
Cruel and cold like winds on the seas
Will you ever return to me
Hear my voice sing with the tide
My love will never die
Over waves and deep in the blue
I will give up my heart for you
Ten long years i'll wait to go by
My love will never die
Come my love be one with the sea
Rule with me for eternity
Drown all dreams so mercilessly
And leave their souls to me
Play the song you sang long ago
And wherever the storm may blow
You will find the key to my heart
We'll never be apart
Wild and strong you can't be contained
Never bound nor ever chained
Wounds you caused will never mend
And you will never end
.
Cruel and cold like winds on the seas
Will you ever return to me
Hear my voice sing with the tide
Our love will never die
.

I got a jar of dirt!
@@scratomatic And guess what's inside it!
@@Myriani would be Davy Jones' heart until James Norrington took it from the jar
Davy x Calypso's love is so tragic honestly. Which speaks volumes in this song.
I read all the comments speaking about how deep the male singer's voice is, and I was wondering what was so special about him... And then I heard his part. Oh god. 😳💖
Absolutely Beautiful.
I’m so glad you enjoyed ^_^
In all my days scouring RUclips for songs to listen to, I have never come across a version of this song such as this, it is amazing.
Thank you very much. I am glad that you enjoyed our cover!
@@Myriani 🙂
Dang, Bigg's base voice is like the Corpsehusband voice but for singing
Exactly
I can definitely see that comparison being a thing!
Mesmerizing! Like a Victorian gothic ghostly tale... Best rendition of this song I've ever heard.
So glad that you enjoyed our cover, thank you!
This was beyond beautiful. I recently rewatched Dead Man's Chest and At World's End and this song has completely overtaken my mind. Such magnificent voices, the both of you, indefatigable!
A man who has loved, and been loved by the sea herself can not love anything but her, nor would he ever want to.
This song, along with the character's backstory, is why Davy Jones is my favourite Pirates of the Caribbean character.
He is certainly well rounded!
@@Myriani and a great performance by Bill Nighy really captured the personality of the character aswell.

It's a crime this doesn't have more views. I've heard a few versions of this song all with different lyrics and this is by far the best version.
It will get more as time moves along. I am glad you like it!
The guy's voice gives the impression that you are in the middle of nowhere in a deserted island surrounded by gigantic waves, whereas the girls voice sounds as if she is in so much pain. I just love it it's amazing👍👍
I am so glad that you enjoyed our cover as in depth as you did. Thank you for listening~

“Do you fear death? Do you fear that dark abyss?... All your deeds lay bare.. All your sins punished.. I can offer you an escape...” - Davy Jones, The Man cursed you live without his heart. Because of one foul person, dooming him into an eternal life of murder and guiding those who died. All because of love..
"My heart always belong to You"
I want a male solo his voice is sooooooo hypnotizing reminds me of better days with my grandpa
Maybe we can convince him to do a solo for this song!
This duet is perfect, also for those who don't know, this song is based on a true story. This story did happened ages ago in the past between a Salor and the Goddess of the Sea.
Why wasn't this recommend to me sooner, I was shocked when I heard the second singer. Both sound amazing
I am glad that you enjoyed our cover, thank you!
I love this, thanks to everyone who put effort into making this possible, including the original writer and singer (and the original duet ofc)
I wonder what would happens if you’d mix both duets with each other. Might sound huge...

That voice may be deeper than the ocean but it sure could melt butter.
i only saw the first seconds of this video and its simply epic. awesome job both of you,i was searching for so much time a vocal cover that displays the feeling of dread and sadness that davy jones story carries and how it weights on him to love so much and have to wait for many many years to see his love again before the process repeating and it slowly turned him into a monster.
I was not expecting that male voice. It caught me completely off guard and I almost fell over from astonishment. Well done. This is a piece beyond beauty!

Also, this makes me want to rekindle with an old novel idea I thought of when I first heard this song. Don't really know how it would go, but maybe I'll explore it again.
Inspiration was struck! Thank you so much for listening to our cover and I am glad that you enjoyed it. How is the novel idea going? Did you decide to pick it up again or no? It's been awhile and I am certainly curious on the matter.
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I actually am working on my novel series. The idea your song cover made me rekindle with will play a major historical event in my series. If my series ever gets off the ground hopefully I can write a stand alone novel explaining what happened.
