- In this Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection gameplay news update video we breakdown the new gameplay features which sees Hero Assault come to all 22 ground maps in Star Wars Battlefront 2 (originally this game mode was only available on Tatooine). Last video, we discussed the apparent lack of cross play for Star Wars Battlefront and what it might mean for the longevity of the game. earlier this week we got a surprise announcement of the new Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, which features both Battlefront 2004 and the original Battlefront 2. Recently, we discussed all of the confirmed gameplay features such as online multiplayer, bonus maps, new heroes, new game modes, and the return of classic Battlefront game modes such as Galactic Conquest, Conquest, Assault, Hero Assault, Capture the Flag, and Space Assault.
Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is incredibly important for the future of Star Wars games. One of the most requested games is Star Wars Battlefront 3 and if this new Battlefront game performs well it could end up being one of the catalysts for Lucasfilm Games to make a Battlefront 3 or at least some sort of new Star Wars Battlefront game. This Star Wars Battlefront release will also be one of the few Star Wars multiplayer game options available in the current generation as the recent LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Star Wars Jedi Survivor (as well as the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws) are all single player experiences and do not feature online multiplayer.
Needless to say, we are incredibly excited for the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection and can't wait to get our hands on the game and relive the golden era of Star Wars games when it releases in a few weeks!

Seeing a lot of misinformation in the comments about Hero Assault and which maps it was available on, so here is some clarification:
Originally, Hero Assault was only available on the Mos Eisley map. Then, on December 19, 2005, LucasArts released the first of two downloadable packages for the Xbox version of Battlefront II. The free content added the Hero Assault mode to Kashyyyk. Another Xbox Live download was made available on January 31, 2006, which (for $4.99) expanded Hero Assault to Coruscant, Mygeeto, and Naboo. The downloadable content was no longer officially available after the original Xbox Live servers were shut down on April 15, 2010, until it was added back to the backwards compatible version of Star Wars Battlefront II for the Xbox One for free. PC players have also been able to play Hero Assault on other maps using mods.
PS2 players (like us) were always locked to playing Hero Assault on Mos Eisley and will FINALLY be able to play Hero Assault on ALL ground maps with Battlefront Classic Collection- we couldn’t be more excited about that.
I really can’t wait to drop like 500 more hours into this game again!!

Next generation?! Hell, I was seven when Star Wars first released. I didn't have time to play this game when it came out as I was just getting my career going and had just started to be a Dad. I've played the heck out of EA's Battlefront versions and now I am sliding into early retirement. Now I have the time to dig into this game.. I am stoked.

Yes, they added that mode to a handful of other maps. But this new version of the game will have that mode on EVERY ground map which is nice

One of the things I will enjoy the most is seeing “Legends Lore” become the standard again for the general public.
On Battlefront 2 campaign there is a super iconic dialogue about a 501st trooper talking about the trip to the Jedi Temple.
It was everywhere when Star Wars had Episode 7 hype, and now it will be everywhere again with this re-release!

I have the Steam version, but I always had hard time installing the mods, so I'm grateful for the collection.
From what I've noticed playing the backwards compatable version on my xbox, when the DLC added heroes are in the game there's only a handful of heros per map. For instance on one map Boba will be playable but Jango won't. I also noticed on certain maps Grevious is not avaiable when Ventress is.
I can't wait to throw hundreds of hours into this! My whole childhood. Just so great and just after my birthday too! But I have a question. Will they keep prone like the og Swbf 2004?
Prone will still be in the first game. Probably not in the 2nd to keep it faithful.
Imagine the longevity if they do crossplay.
I can see there being some technical issues. But if they do, than these games would never die lol
Hopefully they do have optional crossplay though, also player hosted servers and maybe even first party mod support on console!
Even without it, it will last a long time. Multiplayer isn't the only thing this game has, unlike EA battlefront
@@TherealPlayfourlife true. I sunk so many hours into Battlefront 2 on Steam during Covid just playing Galactic Conquest and space battles. I'm more than likely going to spend even more time on this game, but now with friends and co-workers.
I swear, if Battlefront 2 (DICE, 2017) had Galactic Conquest, it'd have been THE best Star Wars game to date. But it had like no singleplayer modes or ways to upgrade your characters and heroes offline and a very short campaign. The little arcade modes where you tried to get a high score were neat. But man, as good as the EA / DICE games looked, they lacked in quality content and were genuine proof that graphics don't mean anything if you can't keep player's attention.
(Also just the fact that multiplayer / live service Star Wars Battlefront is hands down the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. These games breathed offline and couch co-op life)
@wxl2562 very true. I was given og battlefront 2 on my birthday for the ps2 when I was a kid, and I was hooked on it. I didn't even care about any other game. The single-player modes l mostly played for hundreds of hrs instant action, campaign, galactic conquest all I ever played. I didn't even care about multiplayer, I couldn't play it at the time because I couldn't connect my ps2 to the internet, but just those single-player modes got me hooked. This says a lot because even if multiplayer doesn't last long or never existed for this game, those single-player modes will carry this game forever
Maybe Console Crossplay. I would be concerned that long term, they may maintain things less and less and there will be more and more PC cheaters.

Idk it was a lot of fun playing this mode as a kid, but when I play Battlefront II now I tend to just ignore it. And that's with mods that adds the Hero Assault on every map, and expands the roster of heroes. The biggest problem with this mode is that it doesn't feel rewarding like the other modes in the game. You can't capture command posts, you can't progress your medals, and the smaller maps tend to just devolve into brutal melees where whoever enters the fray last is the only one left standing at the end. It's a fun novelty, but that's it really
Finally a take not cemented heavily in nostalgia.
Actually, you might be surprised at how much skill expression this mode allows. It’s kind of like super smash bros in that respect. Sure it can be a brutal melee, but there is enough nuance to allow strategy and team play at a competitive level. Don’t write it off just yet!
I know it’s never gonna happen but it’ll be cool to add 2 more saber villains just so it can be even with the heroes
I just subscribed to y’all! I DEFINITELY want to see Obi-Wan vs. Anakin on Mustafar, Luke vs. Darth Vader on the Death Star, and DEFINITELY Obi-Wan vs. General Grievous!
I think this is the most unpredictable thing that could happen in 2024… or ever. This is amazing, they know we LOVE the old Battlefronts and they rlly giving it back to us with the newer consoles with better frame rates

I mean it be great to get into match quicker but this also causes a lot of bugs.
I mean I can still boot up battlefront 1 (EA) and battle front 2 (EA) and get a match rather quickly.
For now I think we should be happy we are getting a completed started experience and not a hollow game

Anakin vs. 100’s of women and children mode
64 player matches are confined to a gamemode called XL, which was a mode from the PC version of the game. The rest will be 32 player matches
Where did you get info from? They just say that 64 player is for all standard multiplayer modes. XL mode is for single player with massive amount of bots (100 or more) in one map to fight against.
Xl mode is just with bots and its 64 vs 64 but just on 4 maps
I wish they brought first person mode for all vehicles back in BFII.

@@ChimpRiotI agree but imagine how cool space battles would be. I get it may not be as advantageous in pvp but at least in single player it would be great. Maybe add the option for someone starting a session to make first person mandatory for vehicles to encourage players to fill up vehicles.

@bennettnez4711 if you get the PC version, I actually guarentee you someone will either port over or redo the current online mod for galactic conquest

@rdowg I'm glad it's out there for people willing to put in the effort, but modding and keeping pc hardware up to date is too hefty of a price for me personally. I don't mind fast food gaming where I only buy complete products and don't have to do anything on my own to make a game playable. Besides, galactic conquest was never online before so I can have the same nostalgia couch coop

Personally, I'm gonna buy the game just to support Battlefront but I will just continue to play Battlefront 2 2017 because I just prefer the more modern experience. I like older games if they're really good but when there is a modern version of it then I see no reason to play it.
I love the graphics and gameplay of 2017 BF2 but nothing touches the OGs for me, I like the vehicle system my only gripe is lack of customisation for clone legions blasters etc. really wish this game would have a mod browser for console because there are so many well done BF2 mods that improve the graphics even more. Or the BF3 legacy mod which is like a whole new game
OG Battlefront 1 and Battlefront 2 is wayy better than Battlefront 2017 don’t get me wrong the new one is good but the classic Battlefronts is way more funnier
For hero play I prefer the 2017, but for clone battle the 2005 OG.
EA Battlefront are already dead so this collection is gonna make even more so

If the online community is toxic, I’ll just play bots like 99% of people did back in the day. If not then I’ll enjoy this game for a very long time. I’m prepared to be surprised, just need to wait for the game to come out to see how it goes.

Just a fair warning: Do not expect auto health regen. This was from before Halo and CoD brought in that, imo, horrible mechanic that drastically changed how shooters play.

@@krypto1390 As someone who enjoyed playing EA's BF2 once it became good, the original knocks the socks off it IMO. Sure, you don't get the fancier graphics etc but the gameplay and options are so much better. This remastered version seems to be adding even more and the original Battlefront 1 is even further ahead compared to EA's BF1. The orig BF2 has rarely been off my hard drive so I can play it when I feel like a quick blast. 🙂

They are going to need to lower the damage output in this game tho, you die so fast and heroes vs villains as well It would be nice to have a fighting chance like the new one instead of getting dash ravaged in one hit.

I really don't see how this changes everything. Its still a bloated 50 gb on console, and its a 50% price markup for what is essentially a rerelease of the xbox backwards compat games.

Just hoping the game doesn't feel as clunky as it was back in the day. I have the OG games on my Series S because ya know backward compatibility (for like 5 or 10 bucks each) and boy were the controls stiff. I just want those mechanical upgrades. MP would be cool to experience as well. Hard to tell if MP will last long or not. I could see it going both ways

What I would like to know is 1. if they toned down darts maul cuz he is to OP 2. Really toned down the droidikas in the first game cuz they are way to OP 3. The balanced out some of the maps in both games cuz some maps were one sided in that if was very difficult to win the certain factions and 4. Plz make playing as the empire on kashyyyk islands on hard mode actually beatable cuz rn it’s virtually impossible.

Re-releasing this golden era classic has me so excited. If it isn't broke, don't fix it! This is what EA's battle front should have been.
Regarding the amount of heroes you can have, I know in the vanilla game, there were limits to certain units like how you could only have 2-4 of a special unit type in Conquest. Maybe that limit number will either be increased or removed entirely for 32v32
Doubtful as the PC already does 32v32 and has the same limits. Honestly it's probably best anyway as it ensures the majority are the standard troop types.

It would not be 64v64 on hero assault. There is a player limit in that game mode. It would make sense to have millions of copies of all the characters running around killing each other. So I anticipate this will be capped at the number of heroes/villains available to use
This game was addicting when I was a kid. One thing im excited about is playing online for the first time.
I think you guys blow this out of proportion and thinking of this like a new game, they will not balance nothing and not give this too much thought, this will be just enhanced version of two games in one place, so keep calm or you will be really disappointed and community too that you overhypeing right now:D

i'm so happy to have hero assault. the duplicate heroes is fine. we can have silly matches where on the Jedi temple the good guys agree to use Jedi only or, even funnier, a Kamino round where the villains exclusively play as Jango for the true clone army lmao. well i guess they can use Boba too but that would be less funny.
Splitscreen for multiplayer PLEASE! So my self and kid can play multiplayer online.
There’s no crossplay though, Xbox one an series x, ps4 and ps5, and pc being 3 separate networks doesn’t count as crossplay
Let’s be vocal for cross play to keep the online player counts up years into the future
Why does everyone keep saying you could only play Hero assault on one map ? I just loaded up Battlefront 2 on my original Xbox and I can play it on more than one map Coruscant to name one off the top of my head. While it might not be all maps like the new game it was more than mos

The original Battlefront for the original XBOX had better graphics than the PC version. Will we be getting this?

there will be medal upgrades like in the original BF2, but Hero Assault won't count towards that
